Chapter 296 Sunrise

What should I make? I still have a lot of braised beef I made a while ago. It can be stored and tastes good cold. I'll give some to Yunhua later.

We also have pickles and other vegetables at home. Since the weather isn't too hot yet, we can pack some in bamboo tubes and take them with us on the road.

Since that's the case, let's make some more dry food like flatbread and steamed buns. They're easy to store and are essential foods.

Without further ado, Xu Han first took out some soybean residue left over from making tofu a couple of days ago from her spatial storage, intending to use it to make some soybean residue pancakes later.

Make a pot of dried vegetable and vermicelli buns; Yunhua really likes them, so make some extra for him to take with him.

These things need to be made and eaten immediately, and they can't be stored for very long.

After finishing the food, Xu Han temporarily stored it in her space to extend its shelf life.

That wasn't enough. Xu Han also planned to make some chili sauce and beef sauce for Yunhua to take away, as these kinds of things are more durable and can be eaten for a longer period of time.

Not only that, Xu Han also prepared a lot of dried fruit that she had made beforehand, which can be eaten as a snack or used to make fruit tea.

After four busy days, everything was finally ready on the evening of the fourth day.

"Xiaohan and I will go down the mountain early tomorrow morning to pick up the things Yunhua brought back. We'll have to trouble Grandpa Zhao to look after the children at home then," Lu Chuan said.

"Alright, you two can go without worry. I'll take care of things at home," Grandpa Zhao said, holding Ze'er in his arms.

“Grandpa Zhao, I’ll cook the rice and oil for Ze’er tomorrow before we leave. You can feed him whenever he’s hungry,” Xu Han said.

"Okay, I understand. Be careful when you go tomorrow, and check the situation down the mountain before you come back," Grandpa Zhao said.

"Yes, don't worry, we know what we're doing," Lu Chuan replied.

"I've packed everything for Yunhua and put it all together. I can just give it to him tomorrow," Xu Han said while checking the things she had packed for Yunhua.

"Check if anything is missing," Lu Chuan instructed anxiously.

“No, I’ve checked twice, everything is here,” Xu Han said.

"Then you should get some rest so you can set off earlier tomorrow," Grandpa Zhao said.

"Okay, let's rest now. You should go to sleep early too." Lu Chuan said, then took Ze'er from Grandpa Zhao's arms.

After Grandpa Zhao returned to his room, Lu Chuan closed the door and prepared to rest.

As Xu Han tidied the bedding, she said, "It's been a long time since I've come down the mountain. I wonder what the situation is like down there. I guess the people down there should be coming back soon."

"Let's set off a little earlier tomorrow and go down the mountain to check the situation first."

"Yunhua will arrive around the afternoon, which will be just in time to avoid delaying the transport of the fruit trees," Lu Chuan said, putting the already sleeping Ze'er onto the bed.

"Okay, go to sleep early. It's been a long time since I've gotten up early. Remember to wake me up early tomorrow." Xu Han said and prepared to go to sleep. Lu Chuan immediately blew out the light when he saw this.

A good night's sleep...

The next morning, after Lu Chuan woke Xu Han up, Xu Han fed Ze'er milk first, and then got dressed and got up.

After washing up, the two left the courtyard without even having breakfast.

The sky was still dark and gray, and the two could barely see the road ahead.

Lu Chuan walked ahead, and Xu Han held his hand tightly, afraid that he might accidentally slip and fall.

The two stumbled along for quite a while before the sky slowly began to brighten.

"Lu Chuan, look! The sun is about to rise!" Xu Han looked up at the sky and pointed to the sun that was about to peek out.

"Come on, I'll take you up there to watch the sunrise," Lu Chuan said, pointing to the hillside next to them, seeing how interested Xu Han was.

“Okay, we haven’t watched the sunrise together yet,” Xu Han agreed.

"Let's watch the sunrise first before heading down the mountain; it won't take long," Lu Chuan said, then took Xu Han's hand and started walking up the hillside.

Since having a child, Lu Chuan and Xu Han haven't had a long time alone together.

It's rare to have just the two of us today, and we also happened to witness a particularly romantic sunrise, so of course we had to enjoy it together.

Lu Chuan and Xu Han climbed up a small hillside with great enthusiasm, found a spot where their view was unobstructed, and embraced each other, quietly waiting for the sun to rise.

"Look, look! The sun is out!" Xu Han exclaimed excitedly, patting Lu Chuan's arm.

"It's so beautiful. Although I see the sun rise almost every day, this is the first time I've specifically waited to see the sunrise. Today's sunrise is truly different from usual," Lu Chuan said, gazing at the sunrise before him with rapt attention.

“Yes, I’ve never stopped to truly appreciate the sunrise and sunset before, let alone the beautiful scenery before my eyes,” Xu Han replied.

"Whenever we have time in the future, I'll take you to see the sunrise and sunset, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I'll go with you whenever you want," Lu Chuan said to Xu Han.

"You said it yourself, we can't always make ourselves so tired, we should enjoy life in our spare time."

"Okay, we have plenty of time, let's enjoy it slowly." Lu Chuan said, looking at Xu Han with a doting expression.

Xu Han was overjoyed to hear what Lu Chuan said. She loved traveling in her previous life, but she hadn't had a proper chance to enjoy herself since coming here.

I used to love hiking. Although I often hike after coming here, I never hike for the scenery. I always hike to gather food.

When the world is peaceful and prosperous in the future, Xu Han must go out and see the world, to see how the scenery of ancient times is different from that of modern times, to see different buildings, to see different customs and cultures, so as to broaden her horizons.

The two waited until the sun was high in the sky before coming down from the hillside and continuing on their way.

When they arrived at the riverbank, Lu Chuan took out the small boat he had hidden nearby, and Xu Han and Lu Chuan boarded the boat and leisurely headed down the mountain.

On the way, Xu Han looked at the mountains and forests after the disaster while eating the breakfast she had just taken out of her space.

“The weather is getting warmer, look, that tree has sprouted new buds,” Xu Han said, pointing to a tree nearby.

“Yes, the wild vegetables should be coming out in a couple of days, and even more trees will be sprouting,” Lu Chuan replied.

"Disaster years will definitely have a great impact on the mountains and forests. We don't know how many big trees will die. In the past two years, not only will there be fewer prey in the mountains, but also fewer flowers, grasses and trees."

"It will probably take several years to recover to its previous state," Xu Han said with a serious expression.
