Chapter 321 is the cow everyone's been eagerly anticipating!

After buying the chickens, ducks, and geese, I haven't had time to build them new houses yet. There are just too many chores around the house, and I just can't find the time.

It seems we can't delay any longer; we need to put this on the agenda once the weather clears up.

Otherwise, when summer comes, the rainfall will definitely increase, and the shack will probably collapse then.

After the group finished breakfast, it started to drizzle outside, and then gradually turned into a moderate rain.

Fortunately, the rain wasn't very heavy, but it hadn't stopped.

Light rain like this is better for the crops in the fields than heavy rain.

The light rain kept falling, and the rainwater seeped into the soil. If the rain were too heavy, it would just run off and soak the ground.

Even on rainy days, the group didn't stay idle. Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao continued making handicrafts inside the house.

Since I have some time today, I'll cut the bamboo in the backyard to build a coop for feeding chickens, ducks, and geese. I can start renovating it when the weather clears up.

Mu'er played inside the house with Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao, while Ze'er was placed next to them.

Seeing that she didn't need to do anything here, Xu Han went straight into the kitchen.

While we're at it, let's cook some more rice and steam some more buns.

I just used up all the flour today. I'll start washing the wheat and grinding it into flour again after the weather clears up.

There are many types of rice that have been hulled, but we don't need to prepare those yet.

Taking advantage of this time, Xu Han quickly washed and prepared the vegetables by herself.

After preparing all the dishes, we called Grandpa Zhao over to help.

"Grandpa Zhao, come and help me start the fire. I'll cook a few more dishes while it's raining today, so I'll have more options to choose from."

"Here it comes," Grandpa Zhao said with a smile as he went into the kitchen.

Mu'er followed closely in and asked, "Mommy, what delicious food are you making today?"

"Haha, you little glutton, Mommy made a lot of food today. Just tell me which one you want to eat later and I'll serve it to you separately."

"Okay, I'll wait here." After saying that, he pulled up a stool and sat down next to Grandpa Zhao.

Xu Han and Grandpa Zhao burst out laughing when they saw this.

Mu'er wasn't shy at all and laughed along with the adults.

By the afternoon, the rain showed no signs of stopping, and the sky was shrouded in mist. It seemed unlikely to stop tonight either.

Xu Han was busy in the kitchen all day, and after Lu Chuan finished cutting bamboo, she joined the team.

The three of them worked together and moved faster. Lu Chuan helped prepare the ingredients, Xu Han cooked, and Grandpa Zhao tended the fire.

Even Mu'er was quite adept at it, helping to wash the vegetables.

The family chatted and laughed as they cooked.

They talked about nothing more than everyday matters and their hopes for the future.

And so the day passed. By the second day, the rain had stopped, but it was foggy outside, and it might rain again soon.

The group stayed at home as they had yesterday, busy in the kitchen as usual.

In the afternoon, they suddenly heard a loud banging on the courtyard gate. The three of them were stunned for a moment, wondering if the Taoist priest had returned, when they heard the Taoist priest's voice from outside.

"Open the door quickly, I'm back."

"Coming, coming," Lu Chuan replied quickly.

Xu Han and Grandpa Zhao followed them out. As soon as they opened the courtyard gate, they saw the Taoist priest carrying a large bundle on his back. Most importantly, he was leading an ox beside him.

Upon seeing the ox, the group didn't even have time to speak to the Taoist priest before they all started circling around it.

"My goodness, this really is a bull, and a male bull at that! Judging by its teeth, it must be a fully grown man!" Lu Chuan exclaimed excitedly.

"Hahaha, that's great, we have a cow now!" Grandpa Zhao said with a smile.

"Yes, yes, this cow arrived just in time."

The three of them were very interested in and excited about the ox that the Taoist priest had brought back.

You should know that Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao have put in a lot of effort these past few days doing farm work, such as turning the soil and planting vegetables.

Although we already have a donkey at home, donkeys are not strong enough to compare with oxen.

Oxen are very strong and are best suited for plowing fields.

Compared to horses, oxen have more endurance and can pull heavier loads, making them suitable for farmers to use for planting.

Every farmer dreams of owning an ox, and don't underestimate its importance. Having an ox can save you a lot of trouble; it can not only plow the fields but also haul goods.

Just as the three were having a heated discussion about the ox that the Taoist priest had brought back, the neglected Taoist priest finally couldn't help but shout out.

"Hey, can you guys look at me? There's still a living person here."

“I saw it, I saw it. You don’t care as much as a cow. It’s not like you haven’t seen them before, why are you yelling?” Grandpa Zhao retorted.

"Hehehe." Xu Han and Lu Chuan remained silent, just chuckling to themselves.

"I went through so much trouble to bring this back, don't you have anything to say about it?" the Taoist priest asked, his eyes wide.

"Yes, yes, yes, we knew you were coming back today, so we prepared a lot of dishes and are just about to cook," Xu Han said, her mind working very quickly.

Lu Chuan, who was listening nearby, almost burst out laughing.

The Taoist priest, on the other hand, had an expression that seemed to say, "Do you think I believe you?"

"I never said I'd be back today, how did you know?"

"Isn't this still your fault? Didn't you say ten days? Why did it take so long to arrive? Xiao Han prepares a big table of dishes every day just to wait for you to come home. That way, you can have a hot meal as soon as you get home. Isn't that good for you?"

Xu Han glanced at Grandpa Zhao and secretly gave him a thumbs up.

"It's all because of this cow. If it weren't for it, I would have been back long ago. Why would I have spent so many days on the road?"

"Master, your ox arrived just in time. Thanks to the ox you brought back, we'll have to have a good drink tonight," Lu Chuan flattered.

Upon hearing that there was wine to drink, the Taoist priest said nothing more.

"It's raining again, let's go inside quickly," Xu Han said, feeling the raindrops falling.

"Yes, yes, let's go inside first. I'll go tie the cow to the donkey shed in the back. We'll make do with it for now. We'll build a proper shed for it tomorrow."

After Lu Chuan took the cow, he quickly walked to the backyard.

Seeing that the Taoist priest's clothes were soaked, Xu Han said, "Taoist priest, please go and change into some dry clothes. I'll go and boil some water for you so you don't catch a cold."

"Okay, I'll go change it right away."

"The clothes and bedding in the wardrobe are all freshly dried by me, you can wear them directly," Xu Han instructed.

"Understood," the Taoist priest said without turning his head.

When the Taoist priest came out again, the water had already been boiled.

The Taoist priest went inside to take a bath, while the three of them continued cooking.
