"It's quite urgent, it doesn't give people time to react. Isn't that how summer rain is? It comes quickly and goes quickly."
"Your clothes are both soaked. Go and change them quickly. Although it's already the end of April, it's still quite cold after the rain. Don't catch a cold," Grandpa Zhao urged.
"Okay, I'll go change now." Lu Chuan and Xu Han went back to the room together to change into dry clothes.
When they came out again, each person was holding a cloth and constantly wiping their hair.
"I'm soaked through from this short distance," Xu Han said with a resentful look.
"Mother, look outside! It's raining so hard!"
Because it was raining heavily outside, all the doors inside the house were closed to prevent rainwater from getting inside.
Upon hearing this, Xu Han went to the window and looked out. She saw that the sky outside was dark and gloomy, as if there was a big hole in the sky, with water constantly leaking down.
"This rain is so heavy, it's just like the floods last year." After reading the report, Xu Han couldn't help but worry, remembering the floods of last year.
"It's alright, don't worry. This rain looks heavy, but it won't last long. Look, the sky over there is slowly getting brighter," the Taoist priest said, pointing outside.
Xu Han looked in the direction the Taoist priest pointed, and sure enough, the sky over there was slowly getting brighter.
The group stayed inside for a while longer, as the sound of rain outside gradually subsided.
When Lu Chuan opened the door, the sky outside had already brightened up completely.
After a while, the rain gradually stopped.
"The rain came quickly and left quickly, stopping in no more than 15 minutes."
"I thought it would rain until at least the evening, but I didn't expect it to stop so quickly."
"Let's go out for a walk," Xu Han said to Lu Chuan.
"Okay, change your shoes before going out."
When we arrived at the gate, we saw that the path was covered with traces of rain.
The paddy field was full of water. Lu Chuan took the shovel he had just grabbed when he went out and dug a hole in the paddy field, and the water flowed into the stream along the ditch.
"Although it only lasted for a quarter of an hour, there was a lot of rain. The water level in the stream has risen significantly."
"Yes, the rain just now came down too hard, so there was naturally a lot of rainwater."
"Let's walk forward and see if there's any standing water. We can drain the water to prevent it from getting stuck and flooding our things."
"The ditch was just cleared a while ago, so there shouldn't be any blockages. We'll also take a walk over to the orchard later."
The two chatted as they walked, and after checking the entire neighborhood, they returned home.
"You're back. How's it outside? Is there any blockage?" The Taoist priest brought out a reclining chair, lay down on it, and leisurely drank tea as he spoke.
"It's not blocked. We just drained some water from the paddy field," Lu Chuan replied.
Xu Han sat down, poured herself a cup of tea, and said, "You're really enjoying yourself. The temperature after the rain is just right. It's neither too hot nor too cold, and it's even a little cool."
"Absolutely, there's no sun right now, lying here is so relaxing."
"The weather is so nice today, why don't we have a barbecue in the yard if it's not too hot? We haven't had a barbecue yet this year."
Xu Han got excited when she heard that they were going to have barbecue, and slapped her thigh and said, "Okay, I'll go prepare the ingredients."
"Bring your things out, and we'll prepare them together in the yard. We're preparing a lot because we'll be having lots of barbecues in the summer."
"Okay, you wait here, I'll go get the things." Xu Han said and went into the house. When she came out again, she was carrying a lot of things.
Lu Chuan also brought out the cutting board from the kitchen, and the three of them took advantage of the cool breeze to prepare the ingredients for tonight's barbecue in the yard.
"Mu'er loves roasted chicken legs, so I'll prepare some extra," Xu Han said.
"Also, marinate more lamb skewers; everyone really likes them."
"Okay, what else would you like to eat?" Xu Han asked.
“Roasted eggplant is a must. It’s indispensable,” the Taoist priest replied.
"Okay, then we'll need to prepare some minced garlic. I'll go soak the garlic so it'll be easier to peel later."
"Soak more garlic. Peeling dried garlic is the hardest part when we eat cold dishes," Lu Chuan shouted from behind.
"I see."
Garlic that has been soaked in water is easier to peel than dried garlic. You can just use tongs or your fingernail to peel it off, and it doesn't have that thin skin that's the hardest to peel.
The three of them busied themselves for two hours preparing, and finally managed to prepare everything that could be baked.
Grandpa Zhao and Mu'er finished their lessons, and as they walked out of the backyard, they saw Lu Chuan setting up the grill.
"Having barbecue today? It's been so long since I've had it."
"Yes, we're having barbecue today. We'll also have grilled chicken legs, which Mu'er likes."
"Yay, time for barbecue!" Hearing that she could have barbecue, Mu'er happily ran around in the yard.
"Be careful, don't bump into the table," Lu Chuan called out.
Ze'er was very excited to see his brother running around in the yard, waving his arms and legs so much that Xu Han couldn't hold him up.
"Put him on the mat, I'm really afraid you won't be able to hold him and you'll both fall," Lu Chuan said, bringing over a mat.
"Can't you wish me well for once?" Xu Han said, but still put Ze'er down.
Five-month-old Ze'er has gained weight and can now sit up slightly, but she can't sit steadily on her own and needs someone to help her.
Lu Chuan then brought over a few pillows and used them and a small blanket to surround Ze'er so that he could sit and play by himself.
"Tsk tsk tsk, this method is great, we don't even need to look after the children anymore," the Taoist priest said.
"We still need to keep an eye on him. Ze'er isn't as well-behaved as Mu'er; he keeps moving around and can't stop."
You see, the dogs in the house are too scared to come near him, yet he's trying to reach them. Once he can crawl, those dogs probably won't be able to hide from him anymore.
"Peanut's fur has just grown back; we can't let him run wild anymore," Lu Chuan added.
Upon hearing this, everyone burst into laughter.
Ze'er probably didn't understand that everyone was talking about him, and he chuckled along.
Mu'er played in the yard for a while, then brought out a lot of toys from the house, and the two of them sat on the mat and played together.
But Ze'er just wouldn't listen and kept trying to snatch the toys from Mu'er's hands.
At first, Mu'er gave in to him, but Ze'er went even further, eventually making Mu'er so angry that she took all the toys from his hands.
