Chapter 362 Selling Tiles

The next morning, the young couple set off early. This time when they came to the county town, they could clearly feel that there were many more people in the town than before.

There are more shops along the street than before, a large portion of which are newly opened and sell a wider variety of goods.

It seems the people are unaware that war is about to break out, otherwise they wouldn't be living in peace and prosperity like they are now.

However, wealthy and powerful people might know some things, but after all, this place is quite far from the border, and they might also be harboring some wishful thinking.

The two did not wander around the county town, but went straight to Master Yang's house.

Before even entering the courtyard, Lu Chuan excitedly called out from outside, "Is Master Yang home?"

"Hey, you're home, come in," Master Yang said as he walked out.

Seeing that it was Lu Chuan and Xu Han, he quickly put on a smile and said, "I guessed you would be arriving in the next couple of days. The boat is ready and is moored at the dock. I'll take you there to have a look."

Lu Chuan said with a smile, "It seems we've come at just the right time. We were worried we wouldn't have made the trip if we hadn't prepared properly."

"Haha, what a coincidence! It was just finished a couple of days ago, and we've already tested it in the water and there are no leaks. All the parts inside the boat are also done."

The group walked forward while talking, and after only a few steps, they arrived at the dock that Master Yang had mentioned.

Xu Han saw a brand-new medium-sized ship docked at the pier from afar, and guessed that this was the new ship her family had ordered.

"This is the boat. Go on board and see if you're satisfied. If there's anything you're not happy with, I'll make some changes."

Upon hearing this, Lu Chuan and Xu Han eagerly boarded the boat. Xu Han looked at it from left to right and touched it with her hand, clearly liking it very much.

"Excellent, excellent. This ship is very well made; there isn't a single burr."

"It's pretty good, and the space is large. Now even a few more people can sit down."

"It's great. All the accessories are included. There's also a small low table here, which can be used to put some snacks and tea." Xu Han said happily, increasingly pleased with what she saw.

Lu Chuan checked the quality of the boat again, and seeing that there were no problems, the two of them disembarked.

When Master Yang saw the two of them come out, he quickly asked, "How was it? Is there anything that needs to be changed?"

Lu Chuan praised, "It's very good. Master Yang's skills are still as good as ever. This boat is made with great care, which shows that he put his heart into it."

"Haha, as long as you're satisfied. We've already test-run this ship, and there are no problems. If you encounter any issues later, just come to me. It comes with a ten-year warranty."

"Okay, then let's make it through today."

After Lu Chuan finished speaking, he handed the remaining payment to Master Yang and then rowed the boat away.

The two rowed the boat a little further away and went to buy roof tiles together. Recently, many houses have been built in the county town, and a lot of roof tiles are needed, so there were no extra roof tiles to sell to the two of them.

These days, you have to order tiles in advance. Xu Han and Lu Chuan didn't want to make another trip, so Lu Chuan simply gave the manager some extra money and asked him to help get some tiles.

Seeing that Lu Chuan had indeed paid a considerable sum, the manager resolved the issue very quickly and even kindly helped escort the ship to its docking location.

After buying the tiles, the two didn't linger and headed straight home.

Upon arriving at their destination, Xu Han, fearing that such a large ship would attract too much attention, stored it away in her spatial storage just in case.

They were also afraid that someone would see them and carry them away, because if someone saw them in the deep mountains and carried them away, their family wouldn't be able to find out in time.

Although the place where the boat was docked wasn't far from their home, the group didn't come here every day.

It's safer to keep it at home. We can put it here later when things calm down.

But that's not an option right now; it's better to play it safe for the time being.

After all, it's better to avoid trouble. There's no need to push the boat back home; it's easy to store it in my space, saving me from worrying about it every day.

When the two arrived home, the Taoist priest, Grandpa Zhao, and the children were planting sweet potatoes in the wasteland outside.

Mu'er saw her mother and father from afar. "Mother and Father."

Lu Chuan hugged Mu'er, who ran over, and asked, "Have you been good at home today?"

Mu'er said excitedly, "She was very obedient, and she even helped plant sweet potatoes."

"Mu'er is amazing!"

"You guys are really fast. You've finished all the land in just one day, and you've even started planting sweet potatoes."

As Xu Han spoke, she walked closer and picked up Ze'er, who was babbling and lunging forward on the ground.

While digging a hole, Grandpa Zhao answered the question, "Hahaha, thanks to the ox that the Taoist priest bought. If it weren't for this ox, the two of us would probably still be tilling the land right now."

Seeing this, Lu Chuan put Mu'er down and began to pick up tools to help the Taoist priest build the ridges.

"Haha, that's true. It took much longer to plant sweet potatoes last time."

After holding Ze'er for a while, Xu Han also started planting sweet potatoes. The family worked together very well and managed to finish planting the entire plot of land before dark.

In the evening, everyone was exhausted from the day, so Xu Han didn't cook dinner. Instead, she took out some hearty dishes from her spatial storage, and the group enjoyed a lively and sumptuous dinner together.

The Taoist priest said, "Once the sweet potatoes are planted, the work in the fields will be finished for a while. Starting tomorrow, we will continue building the house."

Xu Han suggested, "We've already bought the tiles. Let's lay them on first, then lay the bluestone slabs piled up in the yard. After that, we'll continue to collect bluestone, otherwise we won't have enough space in the yard."

"I think this is a good idea. Let's do it this way for now, and we can discuss any adjustments later." And so, the group got back to work.

There wasn't much farm work to do at home all summer, but the family didn't sit idle; they all devoted themselves to renovating the backyard.

Two months have passed in the blink of an eye, and it's already the end of July. Summer is coming to an end, and the temperature isn't as hot as it used to be.

During this summer, the group paved the entire backyard and the outside of the courtyard wall with new bluestone slabs.

The path at the entrance of the courtyard has been planned, and we just need to start paving it with bluestone slabs when we have time.

The group moved much faster than expected. Besides their daily tasks of weeding and watering, they were always busy collecting and splitting bluestone slabs.

So I had plenty of time to do this work, and finally finished repairing the backyard before the autumn harvest, and even paved the gate with bluestone slabs.

Besides paving the road, the fruit in the orchard also ripened a lot during this time, and Xu Han picked them all and put them in her space.
