Chapter 480 Getting Beaten

Everyone burst into laughter upon hearing this. Xu Han wasn't embarrassed at all and continued, "Now it's great, we have someone in the family who's very good at weaving baskets. From now on, neither of us needs to continue weaving baskets."

So let's not hold grudges against each other; we're both equally bad, so let's leave it at that!

The Taoist priest was too lazy to reply. He put down the branch he was holding, moved a small chair and sat down in front of Zhu Qiang, watching Zhu Qiang weave a basket without blinking.

Xu Han ignored him and moved a stool over to sit down, looking like she was going to study hard.

About an hour later, with everyone's joint efforts, twelve new baskets were finally woven.

Adding the old bamboo baskets we have at home, that should be enough for tomorrow.

Just as the group finished tidying up the things in the yard, a violent storm broke out outside, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

It seems tonight is destined to be a restless night...

The next morning, when Xu Han woke up, Lu Chuan was still asleep, and the rain outside was still falling, showing no signs of stopping.

She moved her arm, which had gone numb from being pressed down, trying to find a more comfortable position, but was suddenly hugged. "Don't move, sleep a little longer. It's raining outside, so we have nothing to do if we get up."

Xu Han blushed and twisted her body, saying, "No, my arm went numb from pressing it."

Upon hearing Xu Han's words, Lu Chuan slowly opened his eyes and pulled Xu Han's arm to move it around.

After a long while, Xu Han finally felt her arm regain feeling. She shook her arm and asked, "What time is it now?"

Lu Chuan said, "It's just dawn, there's still plenty of time! I just heard Dan Niang getting up to make breakfast, so you don't need to get up."

"Hmm, I'm not getting up. It's finally raining and I can finally rest. I'm going to stay in bed today."

After saying that, Xu Han wrapped herself up in the quilt, like a silkworm cocoon, from head to toe, without moving.

Lu Chuan patted Xu Han, who was wrapped up like a silkworm cocoon, and said, "Okay, from now on you won't need to get up to cook at home. You can sleep as long as you want. If you don't want to get up to eat, just call someone to bring it in."

Xu Han grinned mischievously and said, "Okay, let's enjoy being waited on."

Lu Chuan held Xu Han and took another nap. When they woke up, it was already around 11 a.m.

Both of them were woken up by hunger. Xu Han opened her eyes first and poked Lu Chuan with her hand, saying, "I'm hungry."

“I’m hungry too. They should all have eaten by now. I’ll go see if there’s anything else to bring in for you.”

Xu Han threw off the covers and sat up, saying, "I'm not going to sleep anymore. I'll go with you to take a look. My back hurts from sleeping so much. I'll get up and walk around."

"Alright then, is there anything you'd like to eat? I'll have Dan Niang make it for you."

"When I'm hungry, I'll eat anything. I'm not picky now, as long as there's something to eat. Let's go to the kitchen and see what's left. I reckon they've saved some food for us."

As they talked, they walked into the kitchen. Xu Han lifted the pot lid and saw the breakfast left inside.

It was still warm when I touched it, so I simply washed my hands and face and started eating it right away.

After finishing breakfast, I realized that the front yard was unusually quiet, without a sound at all.

"Where did everyone go? There's not a sound at all."

Lu Chuan slurped down his warm porridge. "They should all be in the backyard, but it's raining heavily here! They can't go out."

Xu Han asked in confusion, "How come we can't even hear Ze'er's voice? This is too abnormal."

As soon as Xu Han finished speaking, she heard a loud crying sound coming from the backyard. She recognized the voice immediately as Ze'er's.

Lu Chuan shook his head and said, "Tsk tsk tsk, she's crying so pitifully. I bet it was the Taoist priest who hit her."

Xu Han nodded in agreement, "Grandpa Zhao didn't hit so hard. I don't know what this kid did to make the Taoist priest hit him so hard."

Lu Chuan raised an eyebrow and urged, "Why don't you go take a look?"

"You go if you want, I'm not going. Going there at this time would just be asking for trouble, wouldn't it? What do you take me for! If you're really curious, go see for yourself."

"Wouldn't it be even worse if I went instead of you? Forget it, I'll just ask Mu'er later!"

The couple ate breakfast in the kitchen, only daring to come out after Ze'er's voice had completely disappeared.

As soon as I stepped out, I saw a big, tiger-like creature standing to the side, looking around as if searching for something.

Seeing this, Xu Han quickly called him over, "Da Hu, Da Hu, come here."

When Da Hu heard his wife calling him, he ran over eagerly and gave them a proper bow, saying, "Master, Madam."

Lu Chuan asked, "Da Hu, what are you looking for?"

"Master, I'm looking for pill bugs. The second young master was beaten and is crying very sadly. I want to catch a pill bug for him to play with."

Upon hearing this, Xu Han immediately became interested and asked, "Do you know why Ze'er was beaten? Who beat him?"

"It was the Taoist priest. The second young master dirtied the Taoist priest's new painting and spilled ink on it, so the Taoist priest hit him."

Upon hearing this, the couple exchanged a glance, looking as if they had known it all along.

Xu Han waved her hand and said, "I know, go play. Be careful not to get your clothes wet, or your mother will beat you."

"Yes, madam, I understand. I will definitely not get the new clothes dirty."

Da Hu thought to himself, "This is my first set of new clothes. I'm wearing them very carefully and I don't want to get them dirty at all."

Even when wearing new clothes, they wouldn't kneel or sit on the ground to play, because their mother would beat them if they got them dirty.

After learning the details of Ze'er's beating, the couple didn't want to risk offending the Taoist priest, so they returned to the main room.

Xu Han brought out a Go board from inside the house, and the two of them sat on the windowsill with great interest, playing Go while listening to the sound of rain.

About half an hour later, Mu'er and Ze'er finished their lessons and the two brothers ran back from the backyard one after the other.

Before Mu'er even entered the house, she saw Xu Han's figure and started complaining, "Mother, Father, my little brother got into trouble again today."

The couple pretended not to know anything and asked, "What trouble did our younger brother get into today?"

So Mu'er vividly described the whole process of Ze'er causing trouble. After listening, Xu Han could only say that he deserved it and that he deserved it.

Lu Chuan, on the other hand, was barely suppressing his anger, wishing he could beat him up again.

Seeing the fear on his father's and mother's faces, Ze'er didn't dare to breathe. Finally, under Xu Han's death stare, he weakly said, "Mother, I was wrong."

After saying that, he even stretched out his hand, indicating to Xu Han that he should be punished.
