Chapter 533 Selling Eggs 6

As the saying goes, you can't hit a smiling face. Right now, since they're talking nicely, neither of them is going to launch into a tirade.

Finally, Lu Chuan spoke up, saying, "It's alright, you're too kind."

After saying that, he turned and left, not wanting to get involved with them any further.

Seeing that they were about to leave, the steward quickly continued, "Do you two still have any salted duck eggs for sale? To be honest, the Wang family next door gave our old lady some salted duck eggs today, and she liked them so much that she immediately asked me to go and buy some more. But unfortunately, I went there just now, and you two weren't there."

As soon as I got back, I heard that the people below were incompetent and had offended you two.

We hope that you two can put aside past grievances and sell us some salted duck eggs.

The person in charge didn't want to beg a merchant so humbly, but his master was exceptionally filial.

Recently, the old lady has had a poor appetite, and the old man has searched for all kinds of delicacies, but the old lady only tastes them and does not say that she likes any of them.

Well, now that the old lady finally thinks these salted duck eggs are delicious, the servants have to do their job well.

Upon hearing that there was business to be had, Xu Han didn't haggle anymore. "I still have some left, how much do you want?"

"Let's start with 300 salted duck eggs! There are many masters in the manor, and it won't be enough to go around if we buy too few."

Lu Chuan said, "Yes, but we don't have any baskets here. You'll need to bring a basket to put the salted duck eggs in."

"Alright, alright, that's easy." After saying that, the steward shouted into the yard, and someone immediately brought out a large basket.

Xu Han didn't forget to try and get other business for herself, asking directly, "Do you need chicken eggs or goose eggs? We also have fresh duck eggs."

The person in charge didn't want to buy it, but considering how well the two people had treated him, he figured it wouldn't hurt to lend a hand.

He then said, "Bring some more. 600 chicken eggs and 100 goose eggs. As for fresh duck eggs, forget it. Master doesn't like them; they're too fishy."

Xu Han didn't mind that he didn't buy fresh duck eggs, since fresh duck eggs were indeed hard to sell. "Okay, I'll pack them for you right away."

The manager took the basket from Xu Han, paid the money, and his men carried the items inside.

The couple didn't linger and continued to the next house, continuing like this until dark, finally managing to ask all the residents of the wealthy area.

Back at the inn, the two were so tired they didn't want to move. Why did it suddenly feel even more tiring than working in the mountains? Was it just their imagination?

Xu Han lay motionless on the bed, letting Lu Chuan take off her shoes, and then rolled over and onto the inside of the bed.

Lu Chuan said, "Let's rest for a while. We won't go out for dinner; we'll just have the waiter bring it up."

Upon hearing this, Xu Han sat up abruptly. "No, the food at the inn is terrible, not good at all. We've been working hard all day, we need to eat something good. Let's go eat out later."

Lu Chuan shook his head helplessly. "Alright, alright, as long as you're not tired. Lie down for a while, I'll wake you up later."

"Mmm." Xu Han said, and then she felt like she was about to fall asleep.

A moment later, Lu Chuan called her to get up, and the two went out for dinner and then came back.

After eating and drinking her fill, Xu Han felt more energetic. She pulled Lu Chuan to sit at the table and then took out all the money she had earned that day.

Copper coins and silver coins clattered out, and Xu Han handed the rope to Lu Chuan. The two sat down and began counting the money.

The couple counted the money for a very long time, so long that Xu Han started to complain about how much money there was, before they finally finished counting it.

The people who came to buy eggs were mostly ordinary families, and they didn't buy much. Naturally, the transactions were all in copper coins. As a result, they collected quite a few copper coins and some silver coins in a day, but these were mostly from wealthy families who bought a lot, and they were a minority.

How many copper coins do you have?

Lu Chuan looked down and counted the copper coins he had just strung together, saying, "It's 8 taels and 6 mace in total. How about yours?"

“I have 6 taels and 2 mace here, so together we have 14 taels and 8 mace. Adding these loose silver pieces, it’s quite a lot. We’ve sold about 19 taels today, just 4 mace short of 20 taels. That’s not bad either.”

Lu Chuan nodded. "Yes, quite a lot. It's mainly because we sold a lot of salted duck eggs this afternoon. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to sell many eggs."

"Well, there aren't many salted duck eggs left. I guess we won't be able to make this much money tomorrow."

“It’s okay, we’ll sell as many as we can. Besides, we’ve already bought eggs for one day, and most of the people around here who need to buy eggs have already done so. We’ll sell eggs for another day tomorrow, and then we’ll go home the day after tomorrow.”

"Okay, let's go early tomorrow and try to sell more. We'll go shopping in the afternoon. We've come all this way to the capital, so we should buy everything we need before we go back."

"Okay, let's go to bed early."

After saying that, Xu Han put the money back into her spatial storage. The two quickly washed up and went to rest.

The next day, they went to the same market to sell eggs in the morning and at noon. In the afternoon, Xu Han dragged Lu Chuan shopping.

After a spree of buying things, I've managed to get most of the things I need for the house.

Xu Han said, "We've been using a lot of sugar at home lately, so why don't we buy some more to take back with us? Sugar is much cheaper in the prefectural city than in the county town, so every little bit helps!"

Lu Chuan agreed, "Okay, there's a general store over there, let's go take a look."

The two then began raiding the general store, and finally their busy day came to an end after dark.

After dinner, Xu Han and Lu Chuan were calculating the money they had spent on their trip to the county town and the money they had made from selling eggs.

As expected, business was good today. We only sold eleven taels and three mace all day, which, combined with yesterday's sales, totaled 30 taels and nine mace.

In two days, we sold more than 20,000 eggs. In addition, we completely sold out our salted duck eggs and used up a lot of goose eggs as well.

This trip far exceeded their expectations; neither of them had anticipated selling so many eggs.

It seems that salted duck eggs are still very popular. When I get home, I must make all the remaining duck eggs into salted duck eggs so that I can sell them before the end of the year.

The eggs are almost sold out, so when we return to the county town, we won't have to worry about how to sell them anymore.

There aren't too many eggs in the space right now, but they'll come in handy when we open our own shop later.

So the two decided that after returning to the county town, they would only go to the wealthy area to inquire about the situation, sell as much as they could, and stop selling if they couldn't sell it all. They planned to go home on time the day after tomorrow.

I've been away for a few days now, and I wonder how things are at home? Has the autumn planting finished?

Although neither of them were home, they were always concerned about what was happening at home.
