Chapter 67 Space Upgrade 2

After Xu Han finished speaking, she began to observe Lu Chuan's expression. Although she knew that Lu Chuan would definitely agree, she was still a little nervous.

"Then upgrade! Why are you asking me? The money is all yours, spend it however you want! No need to ask me, and this is a good thing in the first place! It's a sure-fire deal. 120 taels is nothing! You can decide for yourself!" Lu Chuan looked at Xu Han's expression with amusement.

"I knew you would agree. I had to tell you about something this important!" Xu Han happily cupped Lu Chuan's face and kissed him.

"You think you can just run away after kissing me? There's no such thing as a free lunch!" Lu Chuan put his arm around Xu Han's waist, preventing her from moving.

After joking around for a while, the two took out food from their spatial storage and started eating.

After finishing her meal, Xu Han entered the space, paid 120 taels of silver, and the invisible wall in the middle disappeared.

Xu Han went to the other side and looked around. The expanded space was the same length as the one opposite, but there was no wall in the middle. The whole space was directly opened up, and the partition walls between the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom were also gone.

This is even better, as it saves more space when storing things. With fewer walls, you can store a lot more things!

That semi-space was 86 square meters with partition walls, but this side is now 120 square meters, and without partition walls, it definitely looks much bigger.

Seizing the opportunity, Xu Han skipped her afternoon nap and began to reorganize everything in the space.

All the previously purchased grains were sorted and piled up in the new space, against the wall.

All the things that were previously stuffed into gaps were taken out and reorganized by category.

Fresh vegetables were placed together, fresh meat was placed together, and dried vegetables and potatoes from the cellar were also put back into the space, since the space is static and can better store food.

After all of this was done, the sun had already begun to set.

Xu Han came into the yard and helped Lu Chuan sort the beans.

Finally, pound it one last time, and all the beans will fall out.

Pile the bean stalks in the open space outside the yard, then sweep the beans into a pile, and take advantage of the evening breeze to winnow the beans.

This step involves using wind to blow away the fuzz and dust inside the beans.

Fill a wooden shovel with beans and scatter them upwards in the direction of the wind. The wind will blow away the dust, leaving clean beans.

Repeat this process until all the beans are cleaned, leaving only some large pods and stalks, which are then removed by hand.

After tidying up, clean the ground, pile the beans together, and spread them out again to dry in the sun tomorrow. After a few days of drying, they can be stored away.

After everything was cleaned up, it was getting dark. Xu Han went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, while Lu Chuan went to the backyard to clean the chicken and duck coop and sprinkle some quicklime for disinfection.

Tonight's dinner consisted of stir-fried bok choy and braised fish chunks, with steamed white flour buns as the main dish.

After dinner, the two sat in the yard to cool off. They wouldn't work tonight; after working for several days in a row, it was time for a good rest.

The next morning, Xu Han spread out the pile of beans in the yard to dry, and then began a thorough cleaning. She had been busy with the autumn harvest for the past few days and hadn't cleaned the house at all.

First, take the quilts out of the house to air them out, then take the clothes, sheets, and other items to the backyard to wash them.

After washing, mop the floor and wipe the table. It hadn't been cleaned for a few days and was covered in a thin layer of dust.

After cleaning the main room and bedroom, I went to the kitchen and boiled the cutting board and bowls in hot water, then washed them with dish soap.

The kitchen uses a traditional earthen stove, which produces a lot of oil fumes. If it's not cleaned regularly, the kitchen utensils will become greasy and sticky.

Don't underestimate these seemingly trivial tasks; they are incredibly time-consuming to complete, and by the time everything was sorted out, it was already noon.

Doing housework is also very hard. After finishing a morning's work, I was so tired that I couldn't straighten my back. It's really no easier than doing farm work.

Xu Han went to the main room and got herself a bowl of ice jelly. While eating, she lay on the rocking chair and fanned herself with a palm leaf fan.

Lu Chuan won't be home for lunch today, so I'll just have some fruit and snacks. I'll cook a nice meal for myself and Lu Chuan tonight.

After waking up from her afternoon nap, Xu Han took a basket and went to the nearby hillside to pick ice jelly fruit.

As she walked, she smelled a sweet fragrance that seemed very familiar to Xu Han; it must be the kind of wild fruit she had eaten before.

So they started searching everywhere. Sure enough, they found a lot of wild loquats. At this time of year, the wild loquats were fully ripe, and many of them had already rotted.

Seeing the loquats rotting on the ground, Xu Han exclaimed what a pity! She hadn't come to pick them in time, causing these wild fruits to rot on the ground.

It was heartbreaking! But there was nothing I could do but look around to see if there were any loquats that hadn't rotted. Luckily, there were plenty of loquats nearby, and I managed to pick up a whole basketful.

The ground loquats are delicious! Xu Han wasn't in a hurry to pick ice jelly fruit anymore, so she started looking for ground loquats on the mountain. If she didn't pick them now, she really wouldn't be able to pick them in a couple of days.

There should be other wild fruits ripening in the mountains too. I'll take a stroll around the area tomorrow and see if I can pick any akebia quinata, wild grapes, kiwis, or the like.

These wild fruits should be ripe by now. Xu Han wasn't going to miss them again; she had already marked several places with wild fruits when she went deep into the mountains before.

I don't know if Lu Chuan will have time tomorrow so I can go with him. Maybe I should go back and ask. If not, I can explore the area near my home first!

I can't go far, but I can still wander around the neighborhood. This area is on the outskirts of the deep mountains, and ordinary people can't come in. There are also many wild fruits nearby.

As the sun set, Xu Han hurried home. She had picked a basket full of ice jelly fruit and another basket full of loquats that afternoon.

At first, I picked a basketful, and then I searched several other places and always managed to find something. In the end, I had a whole basketful.

When I got home, Lu Chuan was already back.

“I found some ground loquats today, come and try them! They’re so sweet,” Xu Han said.

“I also brought you some wild fruit. Take a look at what this is.” Lu Chuan took out some wild fruit from his basket and handed it to Xu Han.

"Wow! It's an August fried cake, this is delicious too!" After receiving it, Xu Han couldn't wait to pick out one that had already been fried and immediately started eating it.

Mmm! It's sweet and chewy, very delicious! There are a lot of seeds, but that doesn't detract from its flavor at all!
