Chapter 87 Planting Vegetables

After dinner, Xu Han began packing things for Lu Chuan to use for the hunting trip the next day.

After everything was tidied up, it was getting late, so I washed up and went to rest.

I slept without any dreams...

The next day, when Xu Han got up, Lu Chuan had already set off. After washing up and having breakfast, she went to the backyard.

After feeding the chickens and ducks, Xu Han took out a small hoe and started digging for earthworms. The earthworm pile was already quite large.

Every day, I dig out some food to feed the chickens and ducks, and I also throw them old vegetable leaves and other scraps of rice occasionally.

The chickens and ducks lay eggs almost every day because they eat well, and they are all very fat.

After feeding the chickens and ducks, clean the chicken coop and replace the water with clean water.

Then she started picking vegetables. Now many vegetables are ready to be harvested. Xu Han plans to harvest all the greens that can be harvested today, clearing out a new vegetable patch to plant another crop of greens.

The weather is getting colder and colder; if we don't plant them soon, the vegetables won't grow.

However, Xu Han did not pull up some late-season cucumbers, late-season green beans, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

These can still bear fruit for a while! Let's keep them for now, and then pull them out when it gets cold and they don't grow well.

After finishing everything, it was already noon. Xu Han went to the front yard for lunch and then prepared food for the puppies.

After resting under the eaves for a while, he picked up his hoe and went to the backyard.

Xu Han needed to turn over this vacant lot so she could plant vegetables later, so she put on gloves and started working.

The open space was not small; it took Xu Han an entire afternoon to search it all.

The main problem is that my arms hurt from digging konjac yesterday, and I had to turn the soil today, so I just couldn't finish quickly.

I can only work for a while and then rest for a while. I'll work slowly, but fortunately there's no need to rush. I'll just do my best!

After turning over the soil, seeing that the sun was about to set, Xu Han decided not to plant any more vegetables today. There was no way she could finish planting them all anyway, so she decided to wait until tomorrow.

There's still a while before dark, and since I'm alone and don't need to cook, I'm going to continue finishing the clothes I haven't completed!

Try to finish making their clothes before Lu Chuan returns.

So Xu Han went back inside, took out some fabric and started making a thick cotton-padded coat, still needing to make the sleeves longer.

The two of them have grown a lot in height this year. Fortunately, Xu Han took this into account when she made the clothes, so she made them a little longer and tucked them in. Now that they've grown taller, they can just let them down and wear them normally.

She kept doing this until she felt hungry, then Xu Han stopped, took out food from her spatial storage, ate her fill, and then went to boil water to prepare for a bath.

After taking a shower, Xu Han sat down in a chair and began to dry her hair.

Looks like I can't wash my hair at night anymore. It's getting cold, and it's easy to catch a cold without a hairdryer.

Next time I wash my hair, I'll do it before it gets dark, or around noon, so it dries faster and I won't catch a cold.

Xu Han changed several towels before she could dry her hair until it was half dry. Then she started wringing her hair to dry it faster, which was like using a human hair dryer.

After finishing, her hair wasn't completely dry, so she couldn't sleep yet. Xu Han then continued making clothes.

After her hair dried, Xu Han got up and went back inside to rest.

The next morning, Xu Han got up early. The current Xu Han no longer had the habit of sleeping in late that she had in modern times.

Previously, when Xu Han was going to work, she would not get out of bed until the very last minute. Even if she woke up early, she would stay in bed until the appointed time.

Xu Han doesn't not want to stay in bed, but she can't. There are too many things waiting for her to do every day. If she gets up a little late, the chickens and ducks in the backyard will start clucking incessantly.

The puppies would also keep scratching at the door from the outside, so Xu Han often had to hurry up.

After struggling for a moment, he immediately got up, fed the livestock, ate breakfast, and then washed his clothes and sheets in the morning.

Then we went to the vegetable garden at the back and started planting vegetables. The land had been leveled yesterday, and today we just needed to sow the seeds and cover them with a thin layer of soil.

After planting all the vegetables, take out the bamboo watering can made by Lu Chuan and sprinkle a layer of water on them to keep the soil moist. They will sprout in two or three days.

It was past lunchtime, and Xu Han was already starving. She took out food from her spatial storage and began to treat herself.

After finishing eating, Xu Han took out the pumpkin she hadn't finished cutting a while ago and continued cutting pumpkin shoots.

During this period, she has accumulated some wood ash from cooking every day, but it probably won't be enough. Xu Han will stop collecting it and just dry the pumpkin shoots directly!

It also avoids piling everything up at once, which would be more tiring. It's better to do it little by little in batches! That way it's less tiring.

After using up the wood ash, Xu Han went to the wasteland outside to pick tender pumpkins. Tender pumpkins are also a kind of vegetable, and they taste especially delicious when stir-fried with chili peppers.

Xu Han loves her mom's stir-fried pumpkin the most. Back in her hometown, her mom always stir-fried it in an earthen wok, and it was especially delicious. She can never cook it as well as her mom.

First, we went to the riverbank and picked all the young pumpkins that had grown recently but hadn't matured yet. We picked more than thirty of them.

Then I also picked some pumpkin vines to stir-fry later.

After picking the pumpkins by the river, we went to the wasteland to pick more. We picked about eighty of them, and then picked some pumpkin vines from the vines.

After picking the pumpkin vines, Xu Han picked some sweet potato vines from the sweet potato field next to her.

This time, Xu Han only picked three or four baskets of sweet potato vines before turning around and going to the potato field.

I pulled out the newly grown weeds, and that's how the afternoon passed. I didn't go home until it got dark.

Back home, Xu Han locked the courtyard gate and went to boil water. She decided not to cook today and would eat after taking a shower.

Xu Han took a comfortable hot bath until the water cooled down before getting up.

I went to the kitchen, took out a bowl of rice, a plate of braised chicken with potatoes, and a bowl of seaweed and egg drop soup. I ate my fill.

After washing the dishes and chopsticks, Xu Han got up and returned to the main room to start making socks for the two of them. Xu Han had learned how to make socks from cloth before, so making socks that could be worn in modern times was not difficult.

Xu Han not only makes things from cloth, but she also crochets with yarn! There was even some yarn she bought for knitting socks in her old space!

However, knitting socks takes too much time, so Xu Han plans to do it in the winter.

However, when there is time, she can still knit a scarf for Lu Chuan. Xu Han already has one, so there is no need to knit one.

Socks are relatively easy to make; once the pieces are cut, you just sew them together.

Xu Han was busy until after 10 p.m. before she went to rest, thus ending another day.
