Chapter 203 Beggar's Temple

The remaining children also ran over worriedly, lay down next to the boy and watched, and called his name from time to time.

The man, pushed aside, hadn't expected the children to resist. He lashed out with his whip, and amidst the children's terrified gazes, the whip fell to the ground, and the man howled in pain.

Only then did the people in the dilapidated temple see An Shuyi and Xia Hua appear. They lowered their hands, and An Shuyi laughed, "I didn't expect to see such a good show. What are you two doing?"

"You bitch, how dare you hit me! You two, tie those two women up! I haven't had any meat in ages, this is a good time for a treat. They may be a bit old, but I don't mind." The man with the knife stuck in his wrist looked at the two men and said angrily.

They didn't know when the two women appeared; they hadn't noticed them at all. But what did it matter if they hadn't noticed? They were just two women, and in the end, they were still the ones who played with them.

Xia Hua stepped forward. "Shu Shu, stand aside. I'll handle this." People like this shouldn't be alive.

"Okay, go ahead, I'll keep an eye on things!"

As the men approached, Xia Hua pulled a sharp knife from behind her back. Before long, the necks of three men were slashed, and blood flowed out. The man with the knife stuck in his wrist watched his brothers being killed and retreated in fear.

This scene not only frightened the man, but also terrified the children, who dared not watch any longer.

Seeing the man retreat, Xia Hua had no intention of letting him go. She forcefully flicked the knife in her hand, and as if controlled by a machine, the sharp blade plunged straight into the man's forehead in his terrified eyes.

Seeing that the man was dead, they turned to the remaining children and said, "Do you want to live? If you want to live, you can leave with us, but from now on, your lives belong to us."

"If I follow you, will my brother survive?" a voice asked softly, barely audible unless you listened carefully.

"Of course, he only suffered external injuries and can survive if he is sent to the clinic. However, I cannot guarantee whether he will live or die if he stays with me, so he needs to think it through and not force himself."

"I'll follow you. As long as you can save my brother and take him to the clinic, I'll do whatever you ask, even if it means my death," the small voice said again.

Xia Hua nodded, "Okay, then come with me!" After saying that, she walked over, picked up the boy lying on the ground. He looked to be only eight or nine years old and was very light. She carried him outside.

"I'll follow you too, my life is yours from now on." Another voice came from the side.

"Those who want to come with us, then come along. But think it over. Following us, you might die tomorrow or the day after. And if I'm not happy, killing you is just a matter of a moment's notice." He finished speaking and looked at the children's expressions.

Sure enough, upon hearing her words, several children showed signs of backing down. She didn't care, picked them up, and walked outside, with An Shuyi following beside her.

After leaving the dilapidated temple, they found five children following behind them, one of whom was being carried on their back. They heard a cough and realized it was the coughing child. However, the two of them didn't say anything and just continued walking forward.

There were twelve children in the dilapidated temple. One was lying motionless in a corner, and another had been beaten to the ground, leaving ten. However, only four of them came. But the temple didn't like people who couldn't make up their minds, so it didn't matter if they didn't come.

After reaching the bottom of the mountain, An Shuyi picked up the child she was carrying and held him in her arms. "Keep up on this part of the journey. If you fall behind, you'll have to go back to the dilapidated temple. We don't want you."

She and Hua Hua carried the child in front, while the remaining four children followed behind. When they arrived in the capital, the children, though exhausted, still insisted on following behind.

After bringing them into the city, they went straight to the clinic, which was still open. Once inside, An Shuyi said, "Doctor, could you please take a look at these two children? One is injured, and the other has a cough."

"Put them here, let me take a look." Seeing that someone had come so late, the doctor put down the medicinal herbs he was holding and hurried over.

Looking at the two children, and the child standing in the room, I thought, "Aren't they beggars? Why are they here for treatment?" Then I looked at the two ladies and guessed that they were probably just trying to be kind.

An Shuyi and Xia Hua placed the child on a small bed in the corner. The doctor went over to take the child's pulse, then lifted the child's clothes to examine the body. "This child was injured, but fortunately, no internal organs were damaged. He will recover in a few days."

This child caught a cold, and it's been a bit long. If it had been delayed a few more days, he might have developed a lung disease. Luckily, it was treated in time. I'll prescribe some medicine; he can take it for a few days, but the medicine might be a bit expensive.

The child standing nearby looked on worriedly when he heard that the medicine was a bit expensive, fearing that the lady would not allow the doctor to prescribe it.

An Shuyi nodded, "It's alright, you can drive. Then ask the doctor to check if any of the children are sick."

The doctor nodded and asked the children to extend their hands. "These children are not sick, but they have been malnourished for a long time and are somewhat weak. If this continues, it may affect their health."

"It's good that you're not sick. Please prescribe some medicine, doctor." Malnutrition is normal; after all, beggars are often hungry, so it's no wonder they don't get enough nutrition.

After the doctor finished prescribing the medicine, they asked the doctor to prepare it and give it to the sick child. They also applied the medicine to the other child before leaving.

An Shuyi and Xia Hua, carrying their two children again, prepared to return to their residence. The house next to theirs had not yet been cleaned up, and they did not intend to let the servants know that it was their residence.

Although the house isn't cleaned up yet, it's better than a dilapidated temple. Let them make do for tonight, and have them clean it up tomorrow. We can then furnish it with other things.
