She believes that after changing her weapon, her fans will like her even more during the live stream, and the gifts will fly in.
An Shuyi nodded, wrapped the baseball bat with cloth, and sat outside the carriage with Xia Hua. Soon, the refugees followed behind them. They ran, and the refugees chased after them.
"Shushu, aren't we going to stop?" Xia Hua asked. She wanted to start a live stream to earn money when the refugees rushed up.
“Keep going,” An Shuyi shook her head. “They can’t catch up with us anyway. Although they didn’t bring anything, they haven’t eaten or drunk anything for a long time, and they won’t be able to run for long. Unless they can stop us, we don’t need to stop.”
"This way, we can not only exhaust their strength, but even if a fight breaks out, the women in our group can easily defeat them." Her ultimate goal was to terrify the refugees without lifting a finger.
If she could, she would like to solve the problem once and for all, to scare the refugees into submission and prevent them from ever coveting their property again. But there are too many refugees; as soon as she defeats some, more come. She doesn't have the time to waste on them.
Xia Hua nodded, agreeing with her reasoning. Although she wanted to earn money by broadcasting, she was happy to do so even if it didn't earn her money, as long as it allowed her people to easily defeat the refugees. However, she wouldn't let this opportunity pass and immediately started broadcasting.
As soon as she turned on the live stream, a huge number of people flooded in. In no time, the number reached 10,000 and was still increasing rapidly. The chat was flooded with comments, and she didn't even have a chance to see them clearly.
Soon, her live stream attracted over 100,000 viewers. She even wondered if the system was recommending her every time she streamed, otherwise how could she have so many viewers?
She turned the live stream camera to the refugees behind her and read through what the fans were saying. When she saw something interesting, she would whisper it to An Shuyi. The two of them completely ignored the refugees and chatted and laughed on the carriage.
The eldest son sat to the side, initially worried that the refugees would come up and rob them, and what he would do then. But when he saw his mother and Aunt Xia chatting and laughing, completely ignoring the refugees, his tense mood instantly relaxed. He also wondered if he was being too cowardly, since the refugees were still some distance away from them.
It seems he still needs to experience more things. His mother and Aunt Xia, two women, are not afraid, so what is there for him, a grown man, to be afraid of? With that thought in mind, he focused on driving the carriage and making sure he didn't fall behind.
The refugees looked at the carriage ahead and wanted to catch up, but the carriage sped up again. Some refugees gave up and lay down on the ground, letting the scorching sun beat down on them.
But some refugees refused to give up. They were determined to catch up with the carriage ahead, as if they could survive if they did. Thus, the two sides began a chase that continued until it got dark.
An Shuyi noticed it was getting late. "Wood, tell the people in front to find a place to stop. We're going to rest."
Village Chief Lin turned around and said, "Sister-in-law, those refugees are still following behind!"
"What are you afraid of?" An Shuyi said. "There are only a little over a hundred refugees so far. No matter how strong they are, they can't be as strong as wolves. Let's get ready to rest and deal with those refugees so we can have a proper meal."
Upon hearing his sister-in-law's words, Village Chief Lin agreed. After all, they could even kill wolves, so why would they be afraid of these defenseless refugees? "Okay, sister-in-law!" he said, and hurriedly sent his son to inform the front.
Soon the procession stopped, the women stood guard beside the carriages with their belongings, and the men moved to the back of the procession.
An Shuyi looked at the approaching tribesmen and said, "Mutou, tell those tribesmen not to come over yet. With so many people gathered together, how can those refugees rob us? Let them go over when the fighting starts."
"Okay, sister-in-law!" Village Chief Lin ran over and explained to the clansmen that they would watch from a distance and rush in if the refugees came to snatch the loot.
When the refugees saw the horse-drawn carriage stop, and the oxcart in front of them did the same, they all ran forward happily, afraid that if they were a step too slow, someone else would beat them to it.
Finally, to the anticipation of the tribespeople, the refugees arrived. And the refugees did not disappoint them. After catching up with them, they went to take the things from the oxcart. This was the moment the tribespeople had been waiting for. They rushed over from the front, their hoes and kitchen knives aimed at the refugees.
As soon as the refugees came up to grab the items, An Shuyi and Xia Hua kicked them away and brandished their knives.
At first, the refugees didn't think much about it; they just wanted to get water so they could survive. But when they saw so many people, all armed, they suddenly started to panic.
"Don't hit us! We just want some water. We haven't had any water to drink for over half a month. Please, give us some water."
"Please, we beg you, you've already drained all the water from that well, and there's nothing left to draw. Please give us some water."
“The water in that well doesn’t belong to you. You just found it and gave it to us.”
The refugees talked amongst themselves, and some of them, in the end, were practically ordering them to hand over the water.
An Shuyi and Xia Hua didn't care what they said. They started fighting first. No matter how nicely they talked, they still wanted water. But all that water belonged to them. They shouldn't even think about taking a single drop.
The tribesmen, naturally, were no longer as kind as before. They used their hoes and kitchen knives to strike the refugees, completely ignoring their pleas for mercy.
Finally, through their concerted efforts, not a single unharmed refugee remained standing.
"Wood, let's walk a little further and rest here tonight."
"Understood, sister-in-law." Village Chief Lin assigned more than twenty people to pull the oxcart forward. The women stayed by the oxcart the whole time. The rest of the villagers only went forward when they saw that the refugees had stopped moving. They would look back from time to time, and if the refugees got up and caught up, they would run back and beat them up.
After this happened several times, the refugees knew they wouldn't get water, so they could only lie helplessly on the ground, not daring to get up again. It wasn't until much later that they sat up and looked at the firelight in the distance.
An Shuyi instructed, "Wood, arrange for more people to keep watch tonight. Thirty people to guard the first half of the night, and thirty people to guard the second half. Don't let your guard down. If those refugees come to rob, wake up the tribesmen."
“When there are few refugees, we drive them away. If there are many, then we call them back. This way, everyone can get some rest.” The refugees were right behind them. She didn’t believe they wouldn’t take action at night, when the time was right.
Village Chief Lin nodded, "Don't worry, sister-in-law, I'll make sure everything is arranged properly." His two sisters-in-law had already worked hard enough; it would be too tiring for them to worry about these things. Come to think of it, he was useless, having to rely on his sisters-in-law for everything.
