Chapter 169 The mosquitoes weren't killed by the fumes, but we're about to be suffocated.

Thinking of this, Jiang Wanwan picked up a piece of pork belly and put it into Jiang Xun's bowl, looking at him sympathetically and saying, "Come on, don't just eat rice, eat some meat to nourish your brain."

Jiang Xun's eyes were fixed on the pork belly, and he didn't notice what Jiang Wanwan was saying at all.

He was very touched; his sister was so kind to him! She even gave him some meat to eat!

He decided that this younger sister's position in his heart was only slightly lower than that of his sister Wan'er.

Jiang Xun stuffed the pork belly into his mouth, his face full of delight, "Wow, pork belly is so delicious!"

His words jolted everyone out of their reverie as they ate their rice, and they all picked up pieces of pork belly to eat.

The pork belly is fatty but not greasy, and it absorbs the spiciness of the green peppers, making it incredibly delicious with rice. The green peppers, too, are soaked in the rich juices from the pork belly, so delicious you'll want to lick your tongue.

Hu picked up a piece of pork kidney and green pepper with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth. Her eyes lit up instantly. "Good heavens! The pork kidney isn't fishy at all. On the contrary, it's delicious. It's even better than pork belly!"

Upon hearing this, the Jiang family members all picked up a piece of pork kidney, took a bite, and nodded vigorously.

"It's really delicious, not fishy at all!"

"I think Wan'er's stir-fried pork kidneys with green peppers is even better than what you get in restaurants," Grandma Jiang praised.

......

Soon, the food on the table was completely devoured, and everyone ate until their bellies were round.

Jiang Jiang rubbed his belly and said with a simple smile, "So this is what it feels like to be full!"

"If I could have meat and rice every meal, I would be willing to go through fire and water."

"I'm willing too."

The adults thought to themselves, "Don't even mention you kids, they would be willing too!"

After the meal, the Zhu family of four began to busy themselves with housework such as cleaning up pots and pans. Uncle Jiang took the leftover ribs and pig stomach, along with a wooden bucket, out of the yard, saying he was going to soak them in the deep well to keep them fresh.

The rest of the people who weren't working moved a small stool to the shade under the big pomelo tree in the yard.

The adults gathered together to chat, while the boys gathered together to play games.

Jiang Wanwan sat next to Lu Shi, fanning herself with a palm-leaf fan, listening to the adults gossip about the village.

"Buzz buzz buzz~~"

Grandma Jiang held her breath, locked onto the mosquito's location, and slapped it cleanly and decisively.

"Smack!"

It missed.

"Buzz buzz buzz~~" The mosquitoes seemed to be taunting her, buzzing in everyone's ears.

Grandma Jiang squinted, watching the mosquito with a highly tense expression, then raised her hands high and slapped them together.

"Smack!"

Did not capture the image.

"Slap! Slap! Slap!"

It all came to nothing again.

"Oh dear, so many mosquitoes! They're so annoying. Eldest daughter-in-law, go to the main room and get two handfuls of mugwort to fumigate them!" Old Mrs. Jiang ordered angrily. "I refuse to believe these mosquitoes won't die from the fumes!"

"Alright!" Madam Hu jogged into the main room, grabbed two handfuls of mugwort, and then rushed into the kitchen. A moment later, she emerged from the kitchen with a bundle of burning mugwort in her hand, a thick cloud of white smoke swirling around her.

"Mother, I'm here."

"Give it to me, I'll fumigate it. I refuse to believe these damned mosquitoes won't die!" Old Mrs. Jiang took the mugwort from Mrs. Hu's hand and fumigated everyone thoroughly.

Seeing this, Jiang Wanwan covered her nose and pulled Lu Shi away from the battlefield.

"Grandma, the mosquitoes are here."

"Grandma, there are mosquitoes here too."

......

Before long, the entire courtyard was filled with the smoke of mugwort.

"Cough cough cough~~"

The thick smoke from the mugwort choked everyone, and coughs rose and fell.

"Buzz buzz buzz~~"

Jiang Jiang's voice rang out, "Grandma, the mosquitoes weren't killed by the fumes, but we're about to be suffocated!"
