"This is a great method!" the guests exclaimed, their faces beaming with smiles.
They were planning to buy some steamed buns later and wait here.
With a number plate, they wouldn't have to stand in the scorching sun, and they could find a stall to eat a bowl of noodles or a meal. They only needed to return in about an hour, and they wouldn't have to worry about being late and ending up at the back of the line, thus missing out on mosquito coils.
Jiang Wanwan said to her second uncle, "Second uncle, please carry these empty buckets back to the restaurant first, and explain the reason to the manager. Then drive the oxcart to the street corner to wait for us. This will save a lot of time."
Uncle Jiang nodded hurriedly, "Okay."
He picked up three empty wooden buckets and left the stall with light steps.
Jiang Wanwan picked up a stack of mosquito coil packaging bags, wrote serial numbers on them, and distributed the numbered tags to the customers in line.
It was just a simple matter of writing a number on it, so the process was very quick. In less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea, all the guests had received their number tags.
Jiang Xun quickly sorted through the mosquito coil packaging, then picked up the basket on his back and walked with Jiang Wanwan to the street corner.
Uncle Jiang was already waiting for them with his oxcart. When he saw Jiang Wanwan and Jiang Xun, he waved vigorously, "Wanwan, Xun, over here."
Jiang Wanwan and Jiang Xun walked quickly over and successfully boarded the oxcart.
"Sit tight, we're about to set off!" Uncle Jiang raised his whip and drove the oxcart slowly out of the town gate.
Jiang Xun took out three coarse flour meat pies from his basket and gave one to each of his second uncle and Jiang Wanwan. He wolfed down a big bite, his eyes squinting with happiness. "Luckily, Grandma had the foresight to make three pork pies for the three of us as well, otherwise we would have starved to death."
Uncle Jiang squinted, chewing his food slowly. "Young man, what's a little hunger when it comes to making money? As long as someone buys mosquito coils, I'll go all day without eating, just to transport them back and forth!"
Jiang Wanwan disagreed, saying, "Making money is not as important as health. Health is the foundation of everything. If you don't take care of your health, you won't live to enjoy any amount of money! If it weren't for Grandma making us three pancakes, I would have taken you to eat a bowl of noodles before rushing home to get mosquito coils."
She had already died once and knew the importance of life.
Even if you want to make money, you can't overwork your body.
She was lucky the first time; she died suddenly but was able to transmigrate into the book and continue living. The second time, she might not be so lucky. Therefore, Jiang Wanwan cherishes her body very much.
Don't settle for less if you can avoid it. Enjoy life to the fullest if you can, and never mistreat yourself.
Uncle Jiang nodded as if he had been taught a lesson. "You're right, my niece. I'll remember that."
Jiang Xun nodded in agreement, secretly remembering what Jiang Wanwan had said.
Half an hour later, Jiang Wanwan and the other two returned to the village entrance.
Several women sat under the big locust tree at the village entrance. They were doing some sewing and mending, talking quietly as they went.
As she passed by, Jiang Wanwan, sitting on the oxcart, took the initiative to greet several women.
"Wow, the aunties' embroidery skills are truly amazing. Look at those fine and dense stitches, they're even better than the clothes from the tailor shop."
Her words made the women have a very good impression of Jiang Wanwan.
After they got a bit further away, Jiang Xun asked in confusion, "Little sister, how can you see the stitches the aunties are sewing from so far away?"
Jiang Wanwan placed her hands behind her head and said matter-of-factly, "Of course not!"
"Then why..."
"Of course, it's to win over the aunties' favorability towards me~~ When you're out in the world, having more friends means having more options!"
