The Jiang family members were beaming with joy, their smiles so wide they almost disappeared from their eyes.
Grandma Jiang was even more excited. She quickly instructed Hu and Zhu, "Eldest daughter-in-law, second daughter-in-law, you two come into the kitchen with me. Tonight we'll make some thin pancakes."
"Yay! We get to eat thin noodle dumplings!" Jiang Hu jumped for joy.
Zhu glared at him, pretending to hit him, "You little brat, you deserve a beating, shouting so loudly, what if someone finds out?"
"Oh, oh! I forgot, I forgot." Jiang Hu covered her mouth with both hands, shrank her neck, and glanced around furtively, secretly observing her surroundings.
Grandma Jiang glanced at Jiang Hu with disdain, too embarrassed to look at him. "Big Hu, you greedy boy!"
He's so loud and boisterous, and all he thinks about is food. How come I treated him like such a treasure before?
Sigh, it's all my fault for having bad eyesight.
Quickly shift your gaze to your eldest granddaughter's face and cleanse your eyes.
"My dear granddaughter, you must be tired. Go back to your room and rest." Grandma Jiang said with a smile.
"Okay, that's fine. I'll also calculate how much money I made from setting up my stall today," Jiang Wanwan nodded and said.
"No way!" Grandma Jiang objected without hesitation.
This is her favorite and most anticipated part of the day, how could she miss it?
Just imagine how happy and exciting it would be to have your hands stained with the stench of money!
"My dear granddaughter, after dinner, Grandma will count with you," Grandma Jiang said cautiously, a flattering smile on her face.
"Mother! Why are you like this? I want to calculate it too," Madam Hu hurriedly said.
"I want to help too! Stringing coins is my favorite part of the day besides eating. I've been looking forward to it all day, how can I miss it!" Jianghehu Xun and the other two boys shouted.
Although Zhu, Jiang Erbo, Jiang Dabo, Lu, and Jiang Jialin did not speak, their eyes were filled with anticipation.
The group worried that Jiang Wanwan might disagree, but Uncle Jiang rubbed his hands together and smiled sheepishly, “Wanwan, what we care about isn’t the wages. Whether we get paid or not doesn’t really matter. The main thing is that seeing how much money the family has earned makes us want to touch it and smell it. It makes us feel more at ease.”
Jiang Wanwan could understand the Jiang family very well. After all, the Jiang family used to be so poor that they didn't have a single copper coin, and when they got sick, they could only suffer through it.
Therefore, they only feel a sense of security when they see money.
Jiang Wanwan said with a smile, "Second Uncle, what are you thinking? It's just settling accounts together, there's nothing wrong with that. The reason I wanted to settle the accounts in advance is just because it will be a bit late after dinner, and I wanted to finish the accounts by myself."
"It's not too late, it's not too late. We'll just light the candles in a bit." Grandma Jiang smiled so broadly that her eyes disappeared.
The Jiang family was also very excited.
Soon, under Grandma Jiang's guidance, dinner was ready.
We had a particularly lavish meal tonight. We made fourteen thin pancakes at home, along with rice brought back from the restaurant, three meat dishes, and a large plate of homegrown vegetables.
Grandma Jiang said with a smile, "Wan'er brought back so many dishes that I couldn't cook them all. I'll chill them with well water and save them for tomorrow."
"Let's eat, and then we'll count the money."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the Jiang family picked up their chopsticks and began to eat.
