Chapter 374 There's a locust plague, what good news could there be?

Upon hearing this, the Jiang family members saw that Jiang Wanwan's expression didn't seem fake, and only then did they believe her words.

Then, a burst of excited voices erupted.

"That's wonderful! Our Dashui Village is saved! There are so many locusts here; they can surely be exchanged for a lot of grain. In that case, the people in our village will have a way to survive," said Hu Shi excitedly.

"Yes, yes, the village chief will be overjoyed when he hears this news. Our village is saved."

"Wan girl, go and tell the village chief this good news. Let him inform everyone so that the villagers don't get too angry and kill the locusts. That would be a loss."

Now, Old Jiang's family felt sorry for the locusts they had just killed.

Jiang Wanwan greeted the Jiang family members and went straight to find the village chief.

Old Man Jiang loudly ordered, "Dajiang, Dahe, hurry home and get some cloth bags. We'll catch the locusts and exchange them for grain."

"Yes, sir." After saying that, Jiang He took off running up the ridge and headed home.

After not hearing Jiang Jiang's response for a long time, the old man subconsciously looked over, only to find that the simple-minded boy was hatefully slaughtering locusts.

Moving my gaze further ahead, I saw my eldest son engrossed in catching locusts. He would grab one, then crush it to death. He would catch a pair, then kill them both, his expression utterly terrifying.

Old Man Jiang was so angry that his eyebrows and beard trembled. It turned out that neither the father nor the son had been paying attention to what Wan Ya had said. He quickly went to Jiang Jiang and Uncle Jiang and gave each of them a large bag.

"Stop! All of you, stop!"

Uncle Jiang's eyes were bloodshot; he had gone mad from killing the locusts. He choked out, "Dad, please catch these wretched locusts! Our crops can still be saved; we can't just give up like this."

Old Man Jiang glared. "The locusts must be caught, but not killed outright. Wan'er just said these locusts can be exchanged for grain, so don't waste them. In this state of affairs, every little bit helps..."

Uncle Jiang stared blankly at Old Man Jiang's moving lips. At that moment, he had no intention of listening to what he was going to say next. Only three words were swirling in his mind: "Can be exchanged for grain."

"Father, is it really possible to exchange locusts for grain?" Uncle Jiang asked uncertainly.

"What Wan said, how could it be false?"

"Great! We still have fishing nets at home. I'll go back and make a few nets to catch locusts." After saying that, Uncle Jiang ran towards the ridge of the field.

......

Jiang Wanwan repeated the story she had told her family to the village chief. The village chief thought that exchanging locusts for grain was too outrageous and initially did not believe it.

But then I thought about it again, and realized that the world is a vast and wondrous place, and it's possible that locusts could be exchanged for grain.

Besides, whether or not the food is exchanged, the locusts will still be caught; it's just a matter of killing them or not.

Thinking about it this way, it seems like the villagers didn't lose out.

Furthermore, in the village chief's mind, Jiang Wanwan was a very good young woman. She must have some ability to lead the Jiang family to prosperity. She would never do something like this, deceiving people.

So the village chief stood on the edge of the field and shouted with great enthusiasm, "Fellow villagers, fellow villagers, stop and listen to me! I have some incredibly good news to announce..."

Before the village chief could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the desperate villagers.

"Waaaaah, there's a locust plague already! What good news could there possibly be?!"
