"Yes, they really are like second parents." Jiang Wanwan said, staring at Qi Zhao with a grin.
"Please enjoy your meal, esteemed guests," the waiter said, before walking away with his tray.
"Rebirth parents, why did you announce your presence in Anhuai County? Are you trying to attract Su Mu's people here?" Jiang Wanwan said in a low voice.
“Wanwan is very clever. Just as you said, we should lure Su Mu’s people to Anhuai County. That way, when we return to Anyang County and the capital, it will be less likely that Su Mu’s people will notice us.”
"Hmm, great idea." Jiang Wanwan gave him a thumbs up from the bottom of her heart.
"What about Deputy General Liu? Was he also disguised?" Jiang Wanwan leaned closer to Qi Zhao and asked softly, her eyes darting around as she tried to find Deputy General Liu among the crowd.
"Yes, he's disguised. The person sitting by the window over there, wearing a drab gray short-sleeved shirt, is him."
Jiang Wanwan looked out the window, and at that moment, Deputy General Liu also looked over and nodded to Jiang Wanwan.
Oh, it's that big, bearded man.
Jiang Wanwan suddenly realized and nodded to Deputy General Liu.
Unless you're a professional, you probably won't be able to tell.
After a short while, the two finished their meal, and Qi Zhao led Jiang Wanwan out of the city gate.
The people eating in the lobby also stopped eating and followed behind them.
Outside the city gate, a simple carriage was already parked.
Qi Zhao led Jiang Wanwan into the carriage, followed by several of Qi Zhao's men. Meanwhile, Deputy General Liu and a few others disguised themselves as refugees and mingled among the refugee crowd.
The group then headed towards Anyang County.
Along the way, they encountered a dozen or so men in black riding fine horses, who were galloping towards Anhuai County.
Jiang Wanwan and Qi Zhao looked out through the slightly fluttering curtains and immediately guessed the identities of the men in black.
Without a doubt, they must be Su Mu's men.
Thanks to Qi Zhao's early announcement that the Sixth Prince, himself, was in charge of Anhuai County, the men in black did not suspect their identities.
The journey was smooth and Jiang Wanwan and her group soon arrived in Anyang County.
They went straight into a small courtyard. Jiang Wanwan and Qi Zhao removed their current disguises, and then Qi Zhao led a few people to escort Jiang Wanwan back to Dashui Village.
Upon reaching the village entrance, Qi Zhao reined in his horse and helped Jiang Wanwan dismount. "Let's go in quickly; I need to get back to the capital soon."
Jiang Wanwan moved her lips. Although she knew there would be a day of parting, she didn't expect it to come so soon. "Okay," she nodded gently, "then be careful on your journey."
"Go in," Qi Zhao said in a hoarse voice.
Jiang Wanwan nodded, walked to the village gate, and knocked hard.
Upon hearing the knocking, a head immediately popped out from over the wall.
The burly Jiang Daqiang asked menacingly, "Who!"
"It's me, Wanwan!"
"Wanwan? Wan'er! You're finally back!" Jiang Daqiang exclaimed in surprise.
"Quick, open the door! Wan'er is back."
"Squeak~"
The heavy doors slowly opened to both sides, and the patrol team poured out, asking all at once, "Wan girl, you're finally back! We've all been so worried about you these past few days."
"That's right, we were all so worried about you while you were away these past few days. Thankfully you've returned safely."
"Hehe, I'm so sorry to have worried all my uncles and brothers." Jiang Wanwan smiled apologetically. She turned around and looked back, only to find that Qi Zhao was nowhere to be seen.
A faint sense of loss welled up in my heart.
