Soon, Jiang Xun ran back happily.
“Little sister, I found out. Grandma said we have two stone mortars, but we haven’t used them for years and they’ve been left in the vegetable garden in the backyard. Wait here, I’ll bring them over for you right away.”
After saying that, Jiang Xun rushed off to the vegetable garden in the backyard.
Seeing this, the Jiang brothers followed suit.
"Let's go too."
Jiang Wanwan wasn't idle either. She went into the kitchen and found a large wooden basin, and then asked Hu Shi to help her find three winnowing baskets specifically for drying things.
Hu asked curiously, "Wan'er, what are you planning to do with that stone mortar and winnowing basket?"
Jiang Wanwan blinked and chuckled, "It's a secret. Auntie will find out once it's made."
"Hehe, okay. If you need anything from your aunt, just let me know." Madam Hu had a feeling that Jiang Wanwan would give the Jiang family another big surprise.
As they were talking, Jiang Wanwan suddenly caught sight of her second uncle. His gaze met hers for a moment, then he quickly looked away, not daring to meet her eyes again, and turned to go into the east room.
Jiang Wanwan seemed to be deep in thought. Ever since her second uncle returned from town, he had become very strange, giving her a feeling of guilt.
She didn't bother to think about it too much. If this was aimed at her, she would find out sooner or later, so there was no rush.
Right now, the most important thing is to make mosquito coils!
The brothers Jiang Jiang and Jiang He were sixteen and fifteen years old, respectively, but both were tall and strong, like small mountains. Carrying a stone mortar was no problem for them.
Naturally, Jiang Xun's help was no longer needed.
Jiang Xun looked at the two of them resentfully. It was all their fault; they had stolen his credit again!
Jiang Jiang and Jiang He, each carrying a stone mortar, asked, "Sister, where should we put the stone mortar?"
Jiang Wanwan pointed to a spot, "Just put it there."
"Alright!" The two brothers put down the mortar and pestle, looking at Jiang Wanwan with expressions that seemed to be seeking praise and compliments.
Jiang Wanwan said with a smile, "Big brother and second brother are really amazing, they can lift a stone mortar by themselves!"
Jiang He and Jiang Jiang grinned from ear to ear.
Jiang Xun had just taken a wooden basin and a water gourd from the kitchen, preparing to clean the stone mortar, when he heard Jiang Wanwan praise the Jiang brothers. He quickly scooped a basin of water from the water vat under the eaves and rushed to Jiang Wanwan. "Sister, I'll help you clean the stone mortar right away."
After saying that, he looked at Jiang Wanwan expectantly.
Jiang Wanwan: ? ? ?
Didn't you say you were going to wash it? Why haven't you done it yet?
Suddenly, Jiang Wanwan had a flash of inspiration. She blinked her eyes and praised, "Brother is so clever! He actually guessed that I was going to wash the stone mortar next. Then I'll have to trouble you to help me!"
"Hehehe, no need to be so polite." Jiang Xun glanced smugly at Jiang Jiang and Jiang He.
Jiang Jiang and Jiang He: Damn it, this kid tricked us!
Jiang Xun, satisfied, picked up the wooden basin and began washing the stone mortar. The Jiang brothers joined him.
Soon, the two stone mortars, which were originally covered in mud and filthy, were washed clean by the three of them, and not a speck of dirt could be seen.
The stone mortar is ready; all that's missing is the pestle.
"Breakfast is ready, come in and eat quickly!" Zhu shouted loudly from the kitchen doorway.
Jiang Wanwan planned to ask her uncle to make two more mortars for her after breakfast.
Upon entering the kitchen, Grandma Jiang had already prepared millet porridge for everyone.
Everyone's bowl contained the same amount of thick millet porridge.
Having learned her lesson from the previous incidents, Grandma Jiang no longer dared to openly show favoritism, for fear that the greedy girl would find fault with her.
