Article 124 Yue Rong's Decision

"Um, well..." Lin Qixia looked slightly embarrassed.

After all, their way of entering the Feng residence wasn't exactly aboveboard, so she simply avoided that point, cleared her throat, and said directly to her, "We were just lucky, we happened to hear some noise coming from the courtyard where you were."

"I felt something was wrong, so I went to check it out."

"Guess what? When we went to look for her, we found you right there!" Lin Qixia stared at the other person without blinking, afraid that she would notice something unusual.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Yuerong pursed her lips and remained silent for a moment before lowering her eyes and sighing, "Well, I'm really lucky that you guys found out."

As she finished speaking, her voice trembled slightly, indicating a lingering fear.

If Lin Qixia and Huo Yanqing hadn't appeared, I don't know what would have happened to me at the Feng residence.

"What are your plans after this, Miss Cheng?" Lin Qixia asked curiously.

After all, she is the eldest daughter of the Cheng family, how could she suffer such humiliation for no reason?

Even if the other party is Feng Xiao, the son of Feng Changchao, the magistrate of Lichong County.

If the other party is determined to retaliate, I might be able to take advantage of that.

Cheng Yuerong hung her head and became angrier the more she thought about it, so she slammed her fist on the table with a "bang".

The sudden movement startled Lin Qixia, and then she said with a hateful expression, "Of course it's to get revenge on him! That bastard Feng Xiao, I will never let him get away with it!"

Seeing her like this, Lin Qixia was satisfied. "In that case, very good."

As expected, she was right about Cheng Yuerong's personality.

Her behavior was exactly what she wanted.

"Although I don't have any special skills, I'm willing to help you. If Miss Cheng needs my help, just come to 'Xiahe Manor' to find me."

She tried to speak calmly and casually, but after she finished speaking, she found that Cheng Yuerong did not react at all, but was just looking down and thinking about something.

I don't know if she looks down on her abilities or if she has other plans.

But if she doesn't involve me, I won't know the progress of things, and I won't be able to make any plans for myself.

Lin Qixia thought for a moment and then got up to leave. "Miss Cheng is still recovering. You should rest here. I have something to do."

She couldn't give the other person time to think things through, so she took this action to force her to make a choice as soon as possible.

One step, two steps, three steps—

Just as Lin Qixia approached the door and was about to open it to leave, Cheng Yuerong's voice rang out behind her: "Wait a minute!"

Lin Qixia smiled, stopped in her tracks, turned around and looked at her, asking in a seemingly puzzled tone, "Miss Cheng?"

"I need your help, Miss Lin. You just said you were willing to help me," Cheng Yuerong said, sounding slightly anxious.

As she spoke, she looked at Lin Qixia with a nervous expression.

She was afraid that Lin Qixia was just being polite to her.

Lin Qixia herself is nothing special, but she has a very remarkable and mysterious young man by her side who listens to her very much.

so--

If Lin Qixia agrees, wouldn't that be the same as the boy helping her?

Thinking of this, Cheng Yuerong's expression held a hint of anticipation.

Lin Qixia scratched her head, somewhat puzzled as to why Cheng Yuerong would suddenly be so enthusiastic about this. After all, given Cheng Yuerong's status, she should look down on her abilities.

She smiled and replied, "Okay, since Miss Cheng puts it that way, I will naturally agree to help you."

"Then it's settled!" Cheng Yuerong excitedly stepped forward and grabbed Lin Qixia's hand.

Lin Qixia felt somewhat embarrassed by the expectant look in her eyes, realizing that she had previously harbored thoughts of taking advantage of her.

She and Cheng Yuerong agreed to meet tomorrow to discuss how to deal with Feng Xiao.

Lin Qixia then came out of the inn room, where Huo Yanqing was guarding the door.

"Let's go," Lin Qixia said to him.

Huo Yanqing responded and followed her; the two went downstairs together and left the inn.

After leaving the inn, they blended into the crowd on the street. Huo Yanqing keenly sensed a gaze on the back of his head and turned around to see Cheng Yuerong leaning against the window watching them.

When Cheng Yuerong saw the young man in black turn around, she smiled apologetically and waved to him.

Huo Yanqing's expression froze for a moment, then he frowned, turned around, and walked away quickly.

After catching up with Lin Qixia, he asked her in a low voice, "What did you say to her?"

"It's nothing, I just promised to help her get revenge on Feng Xiao," Lin Qixia said casually. "Feng Xiao is not easy to deal with, so you'll have to help me then."

The main reason was that she was too busy to go out at night to sneak into the Feng residence to find evidence of their embezzlement and to retrieve their grain.

After bringing the grain back, there is still much to be done.

As for Feng Xiao, Huo Yanqing can handle him when the time comes.

This can also be seen as venting Cheng Yuerong's anger. Once Feng Xiao gets into trouble, it can temporarily distract Feng Changchao, making him unable to focus all his efforts on dealing with him.

This is the plan that Lin Qixia has temporarily set.

"Oh—" Huo Yanqing pursed his lips as he listened to Lin Qixia's words.

As they walked back, the boy's expression was somewhat strange.

Lin Qixia, however, was preoccupied with her own plans and did not notice his unusual behavior at all.

As evening approached, Lin Qixia deliberately wore a low-key dark outfit, though not as extravagant as a night-clothes ensemble.

"Tonight, you'll cover for me as we break into the magistrate's mansion at night."

Lin Qixia said to Huo Yanqing.

Huo Yanqing nodded in agreement, "Okay."

Clearly, no matter what Lin Qixia wanted to do, the boy was willing to accompany her.

The two walked together through Hongfang Street, heading towards the Feng residence. However, as they approached the entrance of the Feng residence, Lin Qixia suddenly saw a carriage parked at the gate.

"Stop!" Lin Qixia immediately called out to Huo Yanqing and hid in a corner with him.

Then she saw Feng Changchao hurriedly leave the mansion and get into a carriage.

"Giddy up!" The coachman drove the carriage away quickly.

Lin Qixia watched this scene from a corner and noticed something unusual.

She asked the person next to her in a low voice, "Where do you think Magistrate Feng is rushing off to so late?"

"I don't know," Huo Yanqing shook his head and replied.

Lin Qixia glanced back at him, then met his dark eyes in the silvery moonlight, which seemed particularly bright at that moment.

He seemed quite down in the afternoon.

Even though the light was dim, she could tell he was very energetic. He probably wasn't paying attention to what was happening on Magistrate Feng's side at all, and was just staring at her, though she didn't know what he was looking at.

"Ahem." Lin Qixia cleared her throat awkwardly and urged him, "Alright, let's hurry up and follow him to find out what's going on!"

Whatever is wrong with Feng Changchao, his hurried manner in the middle of the night is definitely not normal.

This might be a great opportunity for her!
