Chapter Fifteen: What's there to be afraid of her for?

Lin Qixia paused for a moment, then turned to her and said, "That's right, sister-in-law, I need to hurry up and sell these herbs, otherwise they won't fetch a good price if the season is over."

"Oh, I'll call Aunt Li and the others next door and see if they're going to town today. I'll ask her husband to give you a ride."

With that, He Zhilan put down her work and walked out of the courtyard.

"No need, sister-in-law..." Lin Qixia hadn't finished speaking when He Zhilan disappeared.

It seems there's no way to stop it.

Lin Qixia felt helpless, but it was for the best. It would be safer to go with someone else.

He Zhilan left the courtyard and stood at the gate of Aunt Li's house next door, looking somewhat hesitant.

After all, Xia'er is known for being mischievous and prone to causing trouble.

In addition, since her husband became disabled, he has become extremely irritable, which has led to strange attitudes from the neighbors and villagers. Therefore, she was not very sure that his family would agree to take them along.

"Mrs. Lin, what brings you to my house?" Li Shufen asked He Zhilan as she came out to pour water.

He Zhilan was brought back to her senses by Li Shufen's voice, and then she asked, "Aunt Li, is your brother Zhang going to town today? Can you give my second sister a ride with him?"

Every now and then, the villagers would go to the town for the market. Li Shufen's husband, Zhang Dazhuang, raised cattle and had an oxcart, so he would always give rides to the villagers who were going with him.

He Zhilan usually disliked asking for favors and preferred to walk herself.

Because my sister-in-law was going to town, and I was worried that it was too far for her to walk, I thought of asking them.

"Huh? Your second sister? Lin Qixia?"

Upon hearing this name, Li Shufen turned pale.

He Zhilan quickly explained, "My second sister won't cause you any trouble. You just need to take her with you when you go to town."

"You say she won't cause trouble, so she won't?" Li Shufen clearly didn't believe it.

Especially the last time I saw that girl, she even beat up Zhao Jinnu's child.

His youngest son was always trembling with fear whenever he passed by his house; he was so scared that he developed a mental illness.

"Aunt Li, please believe me, I'm begging you to do me this favor," He Zhilan said urgently.

Li Shufen sighed when she saw her pitiful state.

Regardless, Ms. He was a good-natured woman, and since she had asked her so earnestly, Li Shufen felt embarrassed to refuse her.

Besides, she was afraid that if she rejected He Zhilan, she would offend He Zhilan's husband and he would come after her later!

“Okay! My husband and I are going to town to sell sweet potatoes today. You should call your second sister and come along,” Li Shufen said.

"That's great!" He Zhilan breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she had agreed.

"Xia'er, your Aunt Li has agreed to go with you~" He Zhilan was very happy and wanted to tell Lin Qixia the good news immediately.

Turning around, she saw Lin Qixia standing not far away, looking rather pale. "What's wrong, Xia'er?"

He Zhilan asked her somewhat nervously.

Lin Qixia forced a smile: "It's nothing, thank you for speaking up for me, sister-in-law."

She had overheard He Zhilan and Li Shufen's conversation.

She was puzzled as to how the original owner of this body could have managed to be disliked even by her neighbors.

If someone wants to give me a ride, my sister-in-law has to plead with them a lot before they agree.

"Sister-in-law, I'm leaving." Lin Qixia said to He Zhilan, carrying a basket on her back.

He Zhilan straightened her collar and reminded her, "Don't wander around when you get to town. Stay with your Aunt Li and Uncle Zhang, and come back early after you've sold the herbs."

"Okay, I understand, sister-in-law," Lin Qixia replied with a smile.

After that, she went to Li Shufen's courtyard and greeted her warmly, "Hello, Aunt Li!"

Li Shufen was moving sweet potatoes when she was yelled at, and her legs trembled so much that she almost fell.

Zhang Ji, the youngest son, dropped the sweet potato he was holding and ran away to hide. He had gotten up late that morning and missed his mother's conversation with He Zhilan. Now, looking at Lin Qixia standing in the yard, he asked in a trembling voice with a look of horror, "Mother, why is she here?"

Li Shufen forced a smile and nodded slightly at her.

Then she scolded her youngest son, "What are you afraid of, you good-for-nothing? Today, your sister Qixia is coming to town with us!"

"Her? Why did you ask her to come along? I don't want to go with her, sob sob sob..." Zhang Ji burst into tears upon hearing this.

Seeing this, Lin Qixia had no choice but to give up.

"Aunt Li!" she called out to Li Shufen.

Li Shufen was so startled by her shout that she almost dropped the sweet potato she was holding.

"What are you doing?" she asked, putting down the sweet potato.

The next second, Lin Qixia took out a few copper coins and stuffed them into her hand.

Li Shufen looked surprised: "What's this?"

"I can't just ride in your oxcart for free. Here's some money for you, Auntie. I hope you'll accept it. I'm sorry to have troubled you." She said with a smile, appearing very polite.

Li Shufen was a little embarrassed: "No, that won't do. You're too kind, Lin girl."

"Auntie, please keep it, otherwise I'll feel embarrassed." Lin Qixia firmly handed her the money.

"Oh, Lin girl, you really are... Well then, I'll accept it."

Li Shufen was initially hesitant to accept the money, but now she finally believed that Lin Qixia really wanted to give her the money.

The moment she put the money in her pocket, she felt like she was dreaming.

I didn't expect this girl to have such a good personality?

Or were the rumors circulating in the village exaggerated, and everyone misunderstood her before?

Regardless, Li Shufen's opinion of this girl changed considerably.
