Chapter Twenty-Eight: Missing?

However, after returning to the house, he called Huo Yanqing but there was no response.

Lin Qixia thought the other person was probably too tired, so they went to bed early.

She planned to give him the venison in the morning.

Lin Qixia left home early the next morning.

Bring along the food for Huo Yanqing as well.

This venison was extra; Lin Qixia would often deliberately instruct He Zhilan to make an extra portion, the excuse being that it was for her to take with her when she went out for lunch.

In addition, Lin Qixia has been going out to the mountains frequently these days, so He Zhilan agreed without hesitation.

She would always make an extra portion, just in case Lin Qixia got stuck in the mountains and couldn't get back, and was afraid that Lin Qixia would go hungry.

This is actually just right for her and Huo Yanqing.

"Hey Huo Yanqing, I brought you some venison!" Lin Qixia called out to him softly after entering the house.

However, it was very quiet outside, and the boy did not respond for a long time.

"Huh?" Lin Qixia asked in confusion.

After all, he would always appear immediately whenever she called him.

This time, however, there was no movement at all.

Lin Qixia simply packed her things and went out, intending to look for him outside.

Once they reached a secluded spot, Lin Qixia took out the whistle Huo Yanqing had given her and blew it.

Beep—

The whistle sounded, once, then twice.

There was still no response.

"Where did this guy go?" Lin Qixia stood in the woods, scratching her head.

Could they have just disappeared without a trace?

Lin Qixia recalled their first meeting, when the other person was covered in wounds, which looked like the result of being chased and killed.

What if he hasn't dealt with those people yet, and they're still relentlessly pursuing him...

Upon realizing this, Lin Qixia felt a chill run down her spine.

It would be bad if those people set their sights on me.

Splash—

The sound of wind rustling through the leaves filled the air.

"Crack—" came the sound of footsteps on the tree branch.

Lin Qixia trembled in fright and asked, "Who is it?"

At the same time, she cursed inwardly, "What I feared most has come to pass!"

"Damn it! Huo Yanqing, if you were really going to get into trouble, why didn't you give me a heads-up beforehand?" Lin Qixia muttered, somewhat resentful towards him.

She really didn't want to be implicated; she just wanted to live her own life well.

"It's me..."

The next second, Huo Yanqing's slightly weak voice came from behind her.

Lin Qixia turned around and saw a young man dressed in black walking towards her. He was pale and his steps were slow, which seemed a bit abnormal.

"Are you injured again?" Lin Qixia asked him.

Huo Yanqing had already walked up to her. He shook his head and then collapsed.

"Hey!" Lin Qixia caught him off guard.

The boy's weight made Lin Qixia stumble, but she still helped him to a big tree and let him sit down.

Then she squatted down beside him, leaned closer to examine him, and asked, "What happened to make you like this? You were perfectly fine before."

“Old wound…not healed…” the boy replied, turning his head away to avoid her gaze.

"Really?" Lin Qixia understood upon hearing this. "So when I called you earlier and you didn't respond, it was already so serious that it hindered our actions?"

This taciturn girl didn't tell her about her injuries even though they hadn't healed; she just endured it all by herself!

If he hadn't heard his own whistle, he wouldn't have struggled to rush over regardless of the consequences.

Lin Qixia had mixed feelings, especially seeing his pale face and the fact that he looked like he might die at any moment. She felt bad and a little angry at the same time.

"Take off your clothes!" she suddenly demanded.

Huo Yanqing immediately turned to look at her, his eyes filled with shock: "What?"

"How can I assess your injuries and administer medication if you don't take your clothes off?" Lin Qixia urged him impatiently. "Hurry up and take them off!"

At this moment, she was very angry, and her aura was very strong, while Huo Yanqing's aura was weak.

At first glance, it looks a bit like she's forcing a respectable young man.

"oh……"

He responded softly and began to slowly take off his clothes; a closer look would reveal that the tips of the boy's ears were bright red.

Lin Qixia was completely oblivious to the fact that she was preoccupied with how to examine and treat the boy without modern equipment.

After Huo Yanqing took off his clothes, Lin Qixia saw the various wounds on Huo Yanqing's body, which looked somewhat terrifying.

Most of the wounds were from knife cuts, with the deepest one being a penetrating wound on the shoulder.

It looks like an arrow wound; the arrowhead must have been removed by Huo Yanqing himself, that ruthless man.

At this point, the wound had become infected and ulcerated.

"This should be it." Lin Qixia raised a hand and touched the edge of the wound.

In this situation, he didn't even get stitches or apply any medicine. This kid is really something.

"Um……"

The boy groaned softly because of her touch.

Lin Qixia tilted her head to look at him, "Now you know it hurts? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

It had to drag on until it got this serious.

"I don't want to... trouble you," Huo Yanqing replied.

Lin Qixia rolled her eyes at this answer, "You're still causing me trouble now."

Huo Yanqing lowered his head. "I'm sorry."

"Alright!" Lin Qixia waved her hand, then took out a pill and gave it to him. "Take this anti-infection medicine first, and I'll treat your wound later."

This is a special medicine she just bought from the system. It cost her 50 gold coins for just one pill. I hope this kid takes good care of himself and doesn't waste her money!

Huo Yanqing took the medicine, held it in his hand, and examined it.

"What? Don't you believe me?" Lin Qixia asked, seeing his reaction.

Huo Yanqing quickly shook his head, "No!"

As he spoke, he threw the medicine into his mouth and swallowed it.
