Jiang Ling wasn't annoyed. She continued patiently, "Yaojie, you're still young and there are many things you don't understand. Let me put it another way. If it were Lord Zhao instead of Magistrate Duan in court today, what would the consequences be?"
"This..." Jiang Yaojie was speechless for a moment. He scratched his head and fell into deep thought. He really hadn't considered the question his mother had raised!

Jiang Yaojie nodded, taking note of Jiang Ling's advice.
The two returned to Uncle Lu's oxcart. The previous mess had vanished without a trace, as if nothing had happened. However, Uncle Lu was still pale and trembling as he squatted by the roadside smoking.
"Uncle Lu!" Jiang Yaojie tiptoed up behind Uncle Lu and patted him hard on the shoulder.
"Cough...cough..." Uncle Lu was startled, and even his pipe made him cough incessantly!
"You little...you little bastard, you scared the hell out of me!" Uncle Lu said, tapping his pipe.
"Madam Jiang, our lord would like to invite you over. He says he has something to discuss!" Jiang Ling was about to speak when a yamen runner in official robes walked up to her and whispered.
