Chapter 245 The Mystery of Su Shunhe's Identity

The man was kicked so hard by Su Shunhe that he landed on his buttocks. Judging from the man's slightly furrowed brows, Su Shunhe's kick was not light.

But the man did not retaliate; he simply endured it silently.

"Oh ho, not bad for your training. I'll let it go this time, but if I find out you dare to follow me again, you'll be sorry!" Su Shunhe's eyes turned cold, and he shot out a glare.

The men kneeling on the ground turned deathly pale, looking at each other as if pleading for help.

"Master He..." The man who had been kicked by Su Shunhe endured the excruciating pain and knelt on the ground again, slowly calling out Su Shunhe's name.

"Shut up! You talk the most! Haven't you learned your lesson today? If you say another word, believe me, I'll cut your tongue out!" Su Shunhe's eyes turned fierce in an instant, and he pulled out a gleaming dagger with lightning speed.

He threw it in the direction the man was kneeling, and the dagger made a muffled sound, hitting the man's knee precisely one millimeter in front of it.

Seeing the sharp dagger before him, the man's heart sank. He kowtowed and begged for mercy, "No... I wouldn't dare!"

"Then get out of here!" Su Shunhe roared.

The aura emanating from Su Shunli instantly overwhelmed the group, and they scrambled away, disappearing from Su Shunli's sight.

"Master... it's fine to let these bastards curse a few times, why dirty your dagger!" The servant who had been hiding to the side rushed over at lightning speed, picked up the dagger from the ground, carefully wiped it clean, and handed it to Su Shunhe with both hands.

Su Shunhe glanced at the servant indifferently, put away the dagger, and said nothing.

The servant was nearly scared out of his wits by Su Shunhe's glance, cowering behind him timidly and following him silently.

"Kid, am I really that scary?" After walking for a while, Su Shunhe suddenly stopped and looked at the servant behind him.

The child was startled by Su Shunhe, and shook his head with trembling lips, whispering, "No...it's not scary."

Su Shunhe knew the child was just saying one thing and meaning another, so he didn't take it to heart and simply said, "Alright, kid, let's prepare to return to the capital!"

The child was taken aback by these words. He opened his mouth tentatively and asked, "Grandpa, do you mean, go back to the city...?"

The child didn't say the word "δΊ¬" aloud; he just mouthed it.

Su Shunhe nodded without saying anything. At that moment, no one knew that Nianci's innocent face was on his mind.

For some reason, ever since he first saw Nianci, he always felt that the child was not born to Jiang Ling.

Now that he's seen it again, that feeling is even stronger than before. He has to investigate, even if the final truth differs from his own, he'll be willing to do so.

After all, that face looked so much like one of his old friends that he absolutely couldn't stand idly by!

Seeing the child standing there dumbfounded, Su Shunhe coldly looked at the child and asked, "What? Does my word no longer carry weight?"

The child shuddered again and quickened his pace, saying to Su Shunhe, "Grandpa, I'll go prepare!"

...

Five days later, at midnight, outside the Qin residence.

The call of the cuckoo echoed through every corner of the Qin mansion, and Xiao Cui, who had been sleeping, suddenly opened her eyes.

She glanced around to make sure no one was there, quickly dressed, tiptoed through the door, and dashed off to an inconspicuous spot in the Qin residence.

Just as she had run a few steps, a figure slowly emerged from behind the artificial hill behind her room, his eyes as sharp as those of an eagle soaring in the blue sky.

Immediately afterward, the figure lightly touched the ground, leaped onto the roof, and disappeared into the night sky.

"Why are you here again!" Xiao Cui's heart pounded as she moved aside a large rock blocking the wall, revealing a narrow dog hole that was just big enough for one person to crawl through.

Before long, Mu Laosan's face appeared in front of Xiao Cui. Xiao Cui frowned, looking like she didn't welcome Mu Laosan.

Seeing Xiao Cui's disgusted expression, Mu Laosan's prepared words suddenly choked in his throat. He bit his lip hard and hesitated for a long time before saying, "Cui'er, could you... do it... again?"

His head was bowed, and his voice was soft, filled with pleading and expectation.

After hearing this, Xiao Cui's already furrowed brows twisted even more, and her heaving chest showed that she was trying hard to suppress her anger.

A crisp slap landed on Mu Laosan's face. Mu Laosan showed no expression or fluctuation, and remained silent with his head down.

"Old Mu, if you want to kill me, just say so! Every time you've asked for money over the years, have I ever not given it to you? Do you really think I'm happy here? If it weren't for that night..."

"Enough!" Mu Laosan suddenly interrupted.

The sound wasn't loud, but it seemed particularly abrupt in the quiet midnight. Although the place was deserted, Xiao Cui was worried about being discovered. She reached out and punched Mu Laosan hard, as if venting her inner dissatisfaction.

"Go ahead and shout louder! Louder! Call all the servants! I don't want to live anymore anyway!"

Each angry outburst sounded especially heartbreaking to Mu Laosan; Xiao Cui's words were like a knife stabbing into his heart.

Mu Laosan suddenly hugged Xiao Cui tightly, saying with immense remorse, "Cui'er, it's my fault, I'm sorry, but I'm really desperate now. It's my fault for not being able to give you the life you want, it's all my fault!"

Xiao Cui's eyes welled up with tears as she listened to Mu Laosan's words. She stopped hitting Mu Laosan and instead hugged him tightly.

The two cuddled for a while, when Xiao Cui suddenly remembered something. She jumped out of Mu Laosan's arms and said to him, "Laosan, wait for me!" Then she tiptoed toward her room.
