Chapter 37: First Failure?



"Now, we're going to Dahua Village to demand an explanation! You, you, you, and you, you few just come with me. The rest of you stay in Lujia Village! If I find out anyone goes to Dahua Village to cause trouble on their own, don't blame me for using my family's rules!" The village chief said, pointing to several burly men in the crowd.

The names called by the village chief were those who participated in the arrest last night; the rest were the village chief's two sons.

Although everyone looked somewhat disappointed, they could only watch as the village chief and his entourage disappeared at the village entrance, due to the village chief's authority and the intimidating power of the phrase "family discipline."

Jiang Ling yawned and took her four children back to her own home. She had simply made some vegetable noodles for breakfast, and the four children ate them with great relish. After the children finished eating, Jiang Ling mysteriously brought yesterday's mint water to the table.

"Mom, what is this?" Jiang Wenxi asked, looking at the mint water in front of her with curiosity.

“Try the water made with ‘spicy grass’!” Jiang Ling said with anticipation as she ladled out four bowls of mint water and placed them in front of the four children.

Jiang Wenxi was the first to pick up the bowl, but she spat it all out the moment she took a sip, muttering, "Bitter! Mother! It's so bitter! So bitter!"

"Bitter?" Jiang Ling frowned and looked at Jiang Wenxi in confusion.

With another "pfft," Jiang Suihe spat out all the mint water she had just drunk.

Next was Nianci. Jiang Yaojie managed to swallow it, but his expression turned very ugly.

"Is...is it really that bad?" Jiang Ling looked at the four children with their different expressions and filled herself with doubt as she served herself a bowl.
