At night, Jiang Ling carefully checked the accounts that Shandian Niang handed him. In the two years since she left, Yaojie had been working very hard. In the first year after she left, he even opened two branches in Changning County and Beili County respectively, and the business of the sanitary napkin and shampoo factory also doubled.
Jiang Ling nodded in satisfaction, and suddenly an idea popped into her head: she wanted to open a "club". In ancient times, there was no entertainment or charity, and at night there was almost nothing to do except sleep. Although her family had a resort area, those things were all for the purpose of serving the daytime.
Thinking of this, Jiang Ling suddenly became excited. Opening a "club" in ancient times was exciting just to think about.
The next morning, Jiang Ling ran towards the village chief's house with the blueprints she had designed overnight. The village chief was surprised to see Jiang Ling looking excited, but his surprised expression returned to normal after seeing the blueprints in her hand.
"You're up so early and haven't eaten yet? I'll have your aunt make you something nice to eat!" The village chief greeted Jiang Ling with a smile.
Jiang Ling didn't stand on ceremony or refuse, nodding and looking at the village chief, she said, "Village chief, look, this thing is called 'club'."
"What is this? Kelabo? What is this?" The village chief was clearly unfamiliar with the term.
Jiang Ling didn't know how to explain for a moment. She rolled her eyes and said, "Village Chief, do you think we don't have much entertainment at night?"
This question seemed to stump the village chief. He frowned and thought for a long time before saying, "Entertainment at night? What kind of entertainment do we need at night? We are all farmers, peasants from the countryside, unlike those high-ranking officials in Shengjing. It is normal for us to work at sunrise and rest at sunset!"
Jiang Ling shook her head and said, "No, no, village chief, now that we have a resort area here, we should follow the trend of the resort area. How could the people who want to come here be our country bumpkins?"
One sentence jolted the village chief awake. He nodded, stroked his chin thoughtfully, and said, "Hmm, you're right. I hadn't thought of that!"
Jiang Ling nodded and continued, "Furthermore, our resort's progress was significantly delayed during the two years I was away. If I'm not mistaken, last year's profit was probably less than the year before!"
The village chief sighed helplessly, "Wait a minute, I'll go get you the account books!"
He walked into the house with his hands behind his back. A short while later, the village chief brought out an account book. He pointed to it and said, "Yaojie's mother, don't laugh at me, but you're right, the profits have indeed decreased significantly. You weren't there at the time, so we really couldn't do anything about it!"
Seeing the village chief's somewhat anxious expression, Jiang Ling quickly opened the account book. As she expected, the reason for the low profit was that everyone was exhausted.
Jiang Ling comforted her, "It's okay, I'm back now, aren't I? With me here, I'll definitely help everyone generate income again. Actually, this method is easy to solve, it's just that it lacks a bit of novelty. Even the most beautiful scenery will get boring after a while!"
The village chief nodded, staring longingly at Jiang Ling without saying a word.
Jiang Ling unfolded her design drawings, which revealed a two-story building. The first floor was mostly designed as a bar, while the second floor had some booths and private rooms.
"Village chief, we heard that our stall has attracted several liquor sellers, is that right?" Jiang Ling asked the village chief.
The village chief scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "Well... that's true, but... those people don't plan to continue renting. They did make a lot of money in the beginning, but you know what happens later, it affects everything!"
Jiang Ling nodded and said, "Then take me to meet these wine shop owners later, and I'll have a brilliant plan!"
Seeing Jiang Ling's confident expression, the village chief's previously anxious mood eased considerably. "Alright, we'll head over after we've eaten!"
As they were talking, the village chief's wife brought out the golden fried dough sticks and a large bowl of soy milk. Looking at the golden fried dough sticks, Jiang Ling understood that the village had been developing better and better in the two years she had been gone.
After the meal, the village chief took Jiang Ling to the resort area. Looking at the almost deserted business, Jiang Ling knew that she needed to hurry up and update the new projects.
"Shopkeeper, how many kinds of wine do you have?" Jiang Ling asked the village chief as they walked into the tavern.
The shopkeeper was a young woman of about twenty-seven or twenty-eight, whose every move still exuded charm.
"Oh my, this lady has excellent taste! Our family has been brewing wine for generations. You should try this wine; you'll definitely find it unforgettable!" The shopkeeper, thinking he had just made a sale, enthusiastically introduced his family's wine to Jiang Ling.
Looking at the proprietress, Jiang Ling knew she must be a shrewd businesswoman. Before he could speak, the village chief standing behind Jiang Ling quickly interjected, "This is Yaojie's mother, whom I told you about. We're not here to buy wine!"
When the tavern owner heard that Jiang Ling wasn't there to buy wine, he was a little disappointed, but he still smiled and said, "It's alright if you don't buy anything!"
As she spoke, the shopkeeper opened the wooden bucket closest to her, scooped out a small cup of pale purple liquid, and handed it to Jiang Ling, saying, "Try this, it's mulberry wine, low in alcohol and not spicy! Most women like to drink it."
Jiang Ling smiled and nodded, accepting the mulberry wine. She took a small sip and found it to be just as the shopkeeper had said. The wine wasn't spicy and had a sweet aftertaste, with a faint mulberry flavor in her mouth.
"Today we..." The village chief was about to speak when Jiang Ling interrupted him with a look.
Jiang Ling smiled and glanced at the shop owner, saying, "Hmm, this is good. I won't bother you any longer!"
The tavern owner nodded and smiled as he watched Jiang Ling leave. Just then, the village chief looked at Jiang Ling with some confusion and asked, "Didn't you want to try to understand the wine? Why did you come out?"
