Jiang Yaojie was furious when he heard this, but looking at his mother's calm expression, he couldn't help but wonder, "Hmm? What is Mother thinking?"
Before he could figure it out, Jiang Ling had already told him to get a pen and ink. Jiang Yaojie rolled his eyes and slammed the pen and ink on the table, waiting for Wang Hua.
Wang Hua was a scoundrel and didn't care about Jiang Yaojie's disdain. He rolled his eyes and shamelessly wrote on the paper that he asked for a refund of the rent because Jiang Ling had agreed to it.
"You! You're just being a scoundrel!" Jiang Yaojie pointed at Wang Hua and cursed after seeing Wang Hua's crooked and messy handwriting.
"Hey, who are you calling a scoundrel! This is your mother's request, how can you blame me for being a scoundrel?" Wang Hua chuckled, picking his nose with his little finger as he spoke.
Jiang Yaojie wanted to say something, but Jiang Ling stopped him. Jiang Ling patted Jiang Yaojie's shoulder and whispered, "Go find Magistrate Duan!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yaojie immediately moved a carriage out of the backyard and sped towards Magistrate Duan's government office.
Jiang Ling took what Wang Hua had written and asked again, "Wang Hua, is this what you wrote about the rent refund?"
Wang Hua puffed out his chest nonchalantly and said, "Yeah, didn't you say I could write whatever I wanted? Why are you going back on your word now?"
Jiang Ling ignored Wang Hua's provocation and pointed to the blank space, saying, "Fine, sign it!"
Wang Hua thought Jiang Ling was surrendering, and laughed heartily as he stamped his seal on the blank space of the paper!
“Okay, you can go with the village chief!” Jiang Ling said, putting away the written agreement.
Upon hearing this, Wang Hua immediately became excited. He clapped his hands and followed Jiang Ling with a smile. On the way to the village chief's house, Wang Hua continued to provoke Jiang Ling.
But Jiang Ling felt that Wang Hua was like a grasshopper in autumn, and wouldn't be able to jump around for long.
Knocking on the village chief's door, the village chief looked at Jiang Ling, then at Wang Hua, and frowned as he asked, "Yaojie's mother, is something the matter?"
Jiang Ling winked at the village chief and said, "Wang Hua wants to get all the rent back for the past three years!"
Upon hearing this, the village chief frowned even more deeply. He looked at Jiang Ling again and asked, "Yaojie's mother, is it really true? You can't just say things like that!"
"Old man, stop talking nonsense! I signed a document with this woman explaining the reason for the rent refund. If you don't believe me, ask her. She still has that piece of paper!" Wang Hua interrupted impatiently.
Hearing this, the village chief was even more troubled. He looked at Jiang Ling, trying to find the answer in her.
"Yaojie's mother, is it true?" the village chief asked incredulously.
Jiang Ling nodded and gave the village chief a wink. The village chief immediately understood what Jiang Ling meant and quickly ushered the two of them into the house.
"Please sit down here for a moment. The resort area belongs to the village collectively. Yaojie's mother and I need to go and get the money for you!" the village chief said to Wang Hua.
Wang Hua initially refused, but then he thought that since he had already written the reasons and changed the seal, the two of them couldn't go back on their word. So he simply nodded and put on a bossy attitude, "Go quickly! I don't have that much time!"
The village chief glared at Wang Hua but didn't retaliate. He and Jiang Ling then quickly walked out of their yard.
"Yaojie's mother, what... what's going on?" The village chief blinked anxiously as they walked a short distance and asked.
"Don't worry, I've already thought of a plan. I've already sent Yaojie to invite Magistrate Duan over! We'll go get the silver now, and then mark it. As for what happens next, Village Chief, you don't need to worry about it! I'll handle it!" Jiang Ling said calmly.
Upon hearing this, the village chief's previously anxious heart was completely relieved. He nodded and went with Jiang Ling to retrieve the silver.
At this moment, Wang Hua was still smug, but little did he know that the more smug he was now, the more pathetic he would become in a moment.
Jiang Yaojie also rushed to the yamen. When Magistrate Duan heard that Jiang Ling had suffered, he hurriedly called Zhao Liu to get into Jiang Yaojie's carriage, and the three of them sped off towards Lujia Village.
"Did you bring the money?" Wang Pian asked, leaning back in her chair and squinting.
Jiang Ling placed the silver on the table and said, "Count it yourself. It's sixty taels of rent for three years. After you've checked, sign here to prove that the silver is correct!"
"What kind of annoying rules are these!" Wang Hua muttered, but still began to check the silver.
He then reluctantly signed his name and stamped the account book.
"Alright, can I go now?" Wang Hua asked, picking up the silver.
Jiang Ling walked to the door, glanced at the village entrance, and didn't see Jiang Yaojie anywhere. She looked at Wang Hua and said, "Now that you've taken the money, how about we take a tour of our 'Kelabo'? Aren't you curious?"
"Heh! Women are women! They get scared just from being threatened like that! Tell me to go, and I'll go! I don't believe they'll eat me alive!" After thinking for a moment, Wang Hua turned to Jiang Ling, deliberately putting on a lordly air: "Fine! Then I'll go take a look!"
Jiang Ling smiled and whispered to the village chief beside her, "Village chief, come to my house. After Yaojie returns, quickly bring him and Magistrate Duan to the commercial street!"
The village chief nodded repeatedly and walked towards Jiang Ling's house.
Jiang Ling led Wang Hua toward the resort area. The two soon arrived at the entrance of "Kelabo". Wang Hua looked up at the curtain of "Kelabo" and suddenly regretted asking for three years' rent.
"Tsk, wouldn't it be wonderful if I could get into this place?" Thinking of this, Wang Hua coughed lightly and said to Jiang Ling, "Hey you, can I rent this place?"
“Let’s go in and take a look first. This place isn’t fully completed yet. You can visit it and then decide what to do,” Jiang Ling said, not directly answering Wang Hua’s question.
