Chapter 42 Small Business 2

"Wow, sister-in-law, you're amazing at selling this stuff!" The man put his teacup on the table, smacked his lips, and exclaimed in surprise.

"Da Niu, is this stuff really that good?" asked another man who had been standing next to Jiang Ling.

The man looked like he did manual labor; he had dark skin and a strong physique. He was blinking his eyes, curiously watching Da Niu sitting in the chair.

"Mmm...so comfortable! So refreshing!" Da Niu exhaled a long breath and said.

"How does it taste? Is it really that amazing?" The people around them were in an uproar, asking questions all at once.

"Auntie, how much does this...this thin water cost per pot?" Da Niu asked, turning to Jiang Ling before answering the others' questions.

“Three coins a pot!” Jiang Ling replied.

"Okay, auntie, bring me a pot!" Da Niu said, taking out three copper coins from his pocket and placing them on the table.

"Alright! Suihe, hurry up and fill a pot!" Jiang Ling picked up the money and turned around to say.

Jiang Suihe deftly opened the wooden bucket, filled it to the brim, and placed it on the table.

Da Niu reached out and grabbed the teapot, poured himself a full cup of mint water, and gulped it all down.

In no time, Da Niu finished the whole pot of tea. Even with the last cup, he shook the teapot vigorously, as if he couldn't bear to waste a single drop.

"So refreshing! Auntie, this stuff is amazing! I feel so much better after drinking it, and my lungs feel cooler! It's so refreshing!" Da Niu stood up from his chair, still wanting more, and planned to go back to Li Shan's house to continue working.

As soon as Da Niu left, everyone swarmed around Jiang Ling's stall.

"Everyone, please line up. I'm so sorry, we only have one teapot! Please wait patiently." Jiang Ling suddenly realized that she hadn't brought enough teapots this time, but there were so many people, and she couldn't just leave her three children behind and secretly run to the mall to buy more.

Just as she was frowning in deep thought, Jiang Ling suddenly noticed some cups scattered around the construction site at Li Shan's house. She quickly looked up and asked, "Are those your own cups?"

Everyone followed Jiang Ling's finger and nodded, saying, "That's right!"

"Hmm, I've got it! That's it!" An idea popped into Jiang Ling's mind.

Jiang Ling walked to the stall, cleared her throat, and said, "Everyone, today is my first day setting up a stall, and I'm not fully prepared. I'm really sorry. If you bring your own cups, I'm willing to sell them for two copper coins each. That way, you won't have to wait too long. What do you all think?"

"good!"

Everyone agreed and ran to get their own cups, as if afraid that if they were a step too slow, the water would be gone.

Jiang Ling took a copper coin out of her pocket and handed it to Jiang Suihe, saying, "Suihe, go and return this copper coin to the uncle from earlier. If he refuses to accept it, just explain the situation to him!"

Jiang Suihe nodded obediently, accepted the copper coin, and walked toward the ox that was working.

In an instant, Jiang Ling's small table was filled with various cups, and Jiang Ling poured the mint water from the bucket into those cups one ladle at a time.

The sun radiated immense energy, scorching the working men, who, drenched in sweat, grabbed cups and tilted their heads back to gulp down the mint water.

After drinking it, everyone praised Jiang Ling's mint water even more.

In the blink of an eye, more than half a bucket of mint water had been sold.

Just then, the man who had been called Da Niu walked over with Jiang Suihe.

With a hint of admiration, he said to Jiang Ling, "Sister-in-law, take this copper coin. After all, I used your teapot!"

With that, he slammed the coin onto the table.

"How can this be? You're my first customer, how can I let you suffer a loss!" Jiang Ling said, handing over the copper coin again.

Unexpectedly, Da Niu waved his hand and said, "Sister-in-law, with your magnanimity, I, Li Da Niu, am certain that your business will be booming in the future. Your water tastes sweet and refreshing, and it makes you feel extremely comfortable after drinking it. I wonder if you will come to set up your stall again tomorrow?"

"Yes, I'll come again tomorrow." Jiang Ling glanced at the remaining mint water in the bucket.

"That's great, sister-in-law. Consider this one coin a deposit. We'll come back to support you tomorrow!" Li Daniu said with a smile.

"Yes, yes, sister-in-law, this water is amazing! It feels so cool and refreshing after drinking it, and I have the energy to work! You must set up your stall again tomorrow!" After Li Daniu finished speaking, everyone started to chime in.

Jiang Ling glanced at everyone and nodded, saying, "I'll come back tomorrow, and then it will cost three coins a pot. I hope you'll all be understanding!"

Jiang Ling's disagreement with someone wasn't about money, so she simply brought up the issue of money directly.

No one raised any objections after hearing this.

After a busy period, it was noon, and the sun's heat became even more intense. Jiang Ling's mint water attracted many people, and the bucket of mint water she brought was quickly sold out.

After packing up, Jiang Ling led the three children into an empty alley, took the table down again, and with a "clatter," poured a handful of copper coins onto it.

The three children were completely stunned; they had never seen so much money before.

"Mom, this...we made so much money from this bucket of water?" Jiang Wenxi asked in surprise.

"Mom, how much does our mint water cost? It's so sweet, there must be a lot of sugar in it, right? Sugar at the general store is so expensive!" Jiang Suihe asked, frowning.

Jiang Ling was a little surprised when she heard Jiang Suihe's words. She didn't expect Jiang Suihe to be so thoughtful. She even knew that there was sugar in the mint water. In order not to arouse her suspicion, Jiang Ling nodded and said, "Yes, there are quite a few copper coins, but after deducting the cost of raw materials, there is not much left. Fortunately, we did not lose money and made a little profit. I will buy you some snacks later!"

When Jiang Wenxi heard the word "snacks," her mouth almost watered, while Jiang Suihe and Nianci remained relatively calm.

Jiang Ling roughly counted the copper coins; there were a total of two hundred. After deducting the twenty copper coins she secretly bought white sugar from the mall, plus various experimental and labor costs, Jiang Ling quickly estimated that she had earned at least one hundred and fifty copper coins today.

Making money with peppermint water is much faster than digging for herbs and wild mushrooms in the back mountains by luck. What's more, the money won't pass through the hands of the four children. Jiang Ling can secretly take some from the mall from time to time and mix it in. In this way, the money problem is more than half solved.

Jiang Ling carefully collected the copper coins from the table, then pushed the cart and led the children toward the pastry shop.
