Chapter 53 New Product Development 2

After listening, Jiang Ling rolled her eyes and thought for a few seconds before adding, "It still won't work. To be honest, I'm the only one working on the mint water, and the earliest it can be made is the day after tomorrow. Please go and discuss it with your husband."

Upon hearing this, Li Shanren's servant did not make things difficult for Jiang Ling. He mounted his horse and said that he would be back soon.

Jiang Ling didn't try to stop her any longer and turned to go home.

Jiang Ling carefully took the bowl of syrup out of the cool place, gently shook it with her hand, and the viscous syrup moved around in the bowl. Looking at the flowing syrup, Jiang Ling finally felt relieved.

At this moment, she was really worried that the syrup would solidify and turn into a solid during the pre-cooling process. If that happened, then this mint syrup would have to be declared a failure.

Jiang Ling placed the syrup on the table, took out the wooden basin that had previously contained mint, poured it full of water, and then began to add the prepared mint syrup little by little.

Each time syrup is added, Jiang Ling will scoop a little into a bowl and taste it herself.

Jiang Ling only stopped tasting after the entire bowl of syrup had been added.

"This bowl of syrup is just the right amount to mix with a basin of water. Once you find the right ratio, it's perfect. Bringing syrup with you is much better than bringing a basin of mint water!" Jiang Ling couldn't help but feel happy when she thought of this.

While calling her three children to drink the mint water, she went to a shady corner and took out the peppermint balm she had prepared earlier.

The peppermint paste solidified completely on the parchment paper, and Jiang Ling easily completed the demolding process.

"Mom, what's this?" Jiang Suihe asked, looking at the peppermint paste on the table after finishing a bowl of peppermint water.

"Come on, Suihe! Try it!" Jiang Ling took the prepared peppermint balm in her hand, dipped her finger in it, and gently applied it to Jiang Suihe's temples.

"Wow, it's so cool and amazing! The taste is so refreshing! It tastes just like mint water!" Jiang Suihe said, touching her temples in surprise.

"Feels good, right? This is called peppermint balm. It can relieve heat and prevent mosquito bites!" Jiang Ling explained patiently.

"Mother, what is this again?" Jiang Wenxi asked, coming closer after hearing her sister's voice.

Jiang Ling smiled and said nothing, then repeated the action she had just performed.

"Wow, this feels so good!" Jiang Wenxi exclaimed in surprise as a cool sensation spread through her temples.

"Me too! Me too!" Nianci, seeing the expressions on Jiang Suihe and Jiang Wenxi's faces, also came over.

Jiang Ling repeated the action in her hands. Nianci's reaction was the most exaggerated. She widened her eyes and opened her mouth wide, spilling some of the mint water that was still half full in the bowl.

Just then, Jiang Ling heard the sound of approaching hooves and the neighing of horses pulling on the reins.

"Aunt Jiang, it's me, Li Shan's servant!" The man's voice came from outside the door.

Jiang Ling pushed open the door and stepped out, somewhat surprised. At that moment, a servant was driving a carriage in front of her.

After the servant dismounted, he lifted the curtain covering the carriage, revealing that it contained basins, buckets, cups, and other containers for holding water.

"What are you doing..." Jiang Ling asked, puzzled.

"Our master said that you can bring it over the day after tomorrow, sister-in-law. You can choose any container you like," the servant said, pointing to the carriage.

Jiang Ling craned her neck to look left and right, and finally chose ten bamboo tube cups with lids. The syrup could be completely placed inside without worrying about spilling, which was much more convenient than mint water.

"Are these ten enough?" the servant asked, slightly surprised.

Jiang Ling nodded and said, "Just now, when you went back to report to your master, the improved mint water had already shown initial results, and the bucket your master ordered will most likely be delivered tomorrow as well."

Upon hearing this, the servant's eyes crinkled with laughter as he thanked her repeatedly. He then took out the loose silver coins from his pocket and prepared to place them in Jiang Ling's hand.

"That's too much. Three hundred and fifty copper coins are enough for this bucket!" Jiang Ling waved her hand and didn't take it.

“But… our master gave me so much! Aunt Jiang, please accept it first, and send over a bucket every day for the next two days!” The servant said, placing the silver in Jiang Ling’s hand.

Jiang Ling's lips twitched. Are all rich people this capricious? Aren't they afraid I'll run off with their money?

However, Jiang Ling thought again that running away with the money in this era seemed to be impossible, after all, she still had four children to support.

"Aunt Jiang, what's this strange thing you have?" The servant asked curiously when he saw the peppermint balm on the table after placing ten bamboo cups on it.

"This...this is called peppermint balm. It's cooling and refreshing, and it can also prevent mosquito bites!" Jiang Ling said, placing the experimental peppermint balm in the servant's hand.

"This...this has so many uses? Aunt Jiang, how do you use this?" the servant continued to ask with a curious look.

"Just dab it on your finger and apply it to your temples!" Jiang Ling continued to explain.

The servant was somewhat bewildered, but his hand, as if possessed, dipped some of the peppermint balm into it and applied it to his temples.

A cool breeze mixed with the unique scent of mint made the servant feel incredibly comfortable.

"This...this is amazing! Aunt Jiang, how much is one piece? Can you sell me one?" The servant asked, reluctantly putting the peppermint balm back on the table.

"Sorry, this is a prototype; there's only one available at the moment!"

Jiang Ling's words disappointed the servant. Seeing this, Jiang Ling quickly gave Jiang Suihe a look. Jiang Suihe nodded, ran to the kitchen, took out a bowl, filled it with mint water, and placed it on the table, saying, "Uncle, it's so hot. Try the mint water my mother made."

The weather was already hot and dry, and the servant had run back and forth between Jiang Ling and Li Shan's houses twice. He was already parched, so he picked up the bowl without hesitation and drank it all in one gulp.

A cooling sensation instantly spread throughout my body, and the previous heat vanished in an instant.

"This...this thing is so wonderful! No wonder the men working at the door always crowd around your stall, Aunt Jiang, this thing is truly amazing!" The shopkeeper squinted and smacked his lips, seemingly savoring the taste.

"Suihe, serve Uncle another bowl!" Jiang Ling said with a smile.

"Oh dear, Aunt Jiang, no, no! How much is a bowl? I'll pay you!" the waiter said, waving his hands repeatedly.

"Young man, you're overthinking it. This bowl was just for testing, and it's free to drink!" Jiang Ling said, placing the already filled bowl in front of the servant.

The servant swallowed hard, glanced at Jiang Ling, then at the mint water, and finally picked up the bowl and drank it all in one gulp.

"Brother, I have something I'd like to ask you. What do you think of the effectiveness of my peppermint balm?" Jiang Ling asked.

"Aunt Jiang, I dare not tell you anything else, but our master and mistress will definitely love your peppermint balm!" the servant said.

Jiang Ling nodded after hearing this, and then asked again, "Then what do you think about selling this for 10 copper coins each?"

The servant shook his head after hearing this.
