Chapter 92 Apology 1

"Mother, you...you're not lying to me? Is it really like this?" Jiang Wenxi said, her face pale.

“Why would your mother lie to you? Don’t worry, this isn’t soil. Why don’t you come and watch next time I make it for you?” Jiang Ling gently patted Jiang Wenxi’s chest.

It took Jiang Ling's four children a long time to regain their composure after hearing this.

"Mother, are you also planning to sell this?" Jiang Yaojie asked.

Jiang Ling nodded, then shook her head. Jiang Yaojie looked at Jiang Ling's unusual behavior with a puzzled expression.

Jiang Ling's initial intention was indeed to sell mashed potatoes, but then she realized that potatoes had not yet been fully discovered in this era.

The potatoes left at home are only enough for a few dozen bowls at most, so it seems that making mashed potatoes is not a suitable business at the moment.

Thinking of this, Jiang Ling said to Jiang Yaojie, "Yaojie, this mashed potato will not be sold for the time being, mainly because there are not many potatoes available as the raw material for mashed potatoes right now."

"The potatoes we have left won't last much longer. As for the new potatoes, Mom just planted them in the ground, and it will take a while for them to sprout, take root, and bear fruit..."

At this point, Jiang Ling suddenly remembered something. She quickly took out some copper coins from her pocket and said to Jiang Yaojie, "Yaojie, go around the village for your mother. Collect all the sprouted potatoes from every household. We'll pay you one copper coin per potato!"

Jiang Yaojie nodded, carefully placed the copper coin in his pocket, and walked out.

The sunset painted the sky with golden clouds, and Lujia Village was shrouded in a beautiful scene. Jiang Yaojie's figure appeared at the door.

He was carrying a basket that was more than half full of potatoes when he excitedly said, "Mom, I brought back a lot of sprouted potatoes, but didn't you say they were poisonous? Why did you bring them back?"

Jiang Ling smiled and explained, "Your grandmother once told me that as long as you rebury these sprouted potatoes in the ground, new potatoes will grow after a while!"

Jiang Yaojie found it strange; he had lived in Lujia Village for over ten years and this was the first time he had ever heard of such a bizarre thing.

Jiang Ling took the basket, cut all the sprouted parts into small pieces and put them back in the basket, then picked up the hoe from the corner and prepared to go out.

Just as she reached her own side of the ground, before she could even put down her basket, Jiang Ling heard the whimpering of an animal coming from not far away.

Jiang Ling put the basket on the ground and followed the sound. After walking a few hundred meters, she found a puppy that looked to be about two or three months old.

The light gray puppy was whimpering as its hind leg got caught in an animal trap.

Jiang Ling has loved animals since she was a child. Seeing the injured puppy in front of her, she quickly walked over, carefully opened the animal trap, and held the puppy in her arms to carefully examine its injuries.

The animal trap was very sharp, and the puppy's hind legs were almost mangled. The puppy trembled incessantly in Jiang Ling's arms.

Jiang Ling glanced around to make sure no one was around, then immediately opened the system shop and bought some gauze, disinfectant, and Yunnan Baiyao. She also bought a box of nutritional supplements for puppies.

Jiang Ling found a clean spot and carefully placed the puppy on the ground. She then carefully disinfected and bandaged the puppy's wounds and fed it some nutritional supplements.

They took the injured puppy back to their land.

After planting all the sprouted potatoes in the ground, Jiang Ling took the injured puppy home.

However, Jiang Ling was unaware that not long after she left, there was a sudden commotion in the grass of that clearing, followed by the appearance of more than a dozen pairs of green eyes, and then a light gray female wolf slowly emerged from the grass.

She walked to the animal trap, sniffed it hard, and soon let out a mournful whimper.

The "puppy" that Jiang Ling brought back immediately attracted the attention of the whole family. In particular, Jiang Wenxi carefully stroked the puppy's body and asked, looking at the puppy's hind leg wrapped in bandages, "Mom, what happened to it?"

"It injured its leg in an animal trap. From now on, this little dog is also a member of our family, so we must treat it well!" Jiang Ling said as she gently placed the puppy on the ground.

"Okay! Mom, I'm planning to make a doghouse for the puppy tomorrow!"

"Me too!"

"I'll help too!"

Jiang Yaojie's suggestion immediately garnered support from the other three children. Seeing the four of them looking at him with hopeful eyes, Jiang Ling nodded in agreement.

The children all clapped and cheered with joy.

As night fell, Jiang Ling quietly pushed open the door, bought some goat milk from the mall, and fed it to the puppy. After carefully observing and confirming that the puppy was alright, she went back to her room to sleep with peace of mind.

The next morning, Jiang Ling led her four children to carefully sweep the yard and clean up the ducklings' droppings. She didn't want Magistrate Duan to come and see the house in such a mess.

Soon, the sound of horses' hooves came from outside the door, growing louder as it approached, and stopped in front of Jiang Ling's house.

As soon as Jiang Ling opened the door, she saw Magistrate Duan get off the carriage. Judging from his expression, he must have come to Lujia Village for some good news.

"Yaojie, go and call the village chief over!" Jiang Ling whispered to Jiang Yaojie.

"Greetings, Your Excellency!" Jiang Ling, along with her remaining three children and Jiang Zhishan, quickly bowed to Magistrate Duan.

"You're too kind, Madam Jiang. Please get up!" Magistrate Duan waved his hand repeatedly, indicating that Madam Jiang did not need to be so polite.

"This must be Jiang Zhishan?" Magistrate Duan's gaze fell on Jiang Zhishan, startling him.
