Xie Yushu has been busy these past few days. Besides visiting the Fifth Prince twice to check on the recovery of her incision, she also spends an hour each morning attending classes at the Imperial Hospital.
Ever since those imperial physicians witnessed Xie Yushu's surgery that day, the entire Imperial Hospital was in an uproar when they went back and told the story!
Some people's eyes lit up when they heard about new treatment methods, and they couldn't wait to see them in person.
Some conservatives, however, said
"Our bodies and hair are given to us by our parents, and we dare not damage them. This surgery treats people like tattered clothes and rags, sewing and patching them up. It's simply sorcery and should not be tolerated!"
Therefore, he even went to Emperor Qingyuan to plead for the emperor to rescind his order and severely punish Xie Yushu.
Emperor Qingyuan had witnessed the surgery and knew that superb surgical skills could truly save many lives.
Unfortunately, this conservative old stubbornness was very obstinate and wouldn't listen to anything. He even deliberately disrupted Xie Yushu's theoretical explanations, using rigid traditional Chinese medicine theories to verify the drawbacks of the surgery.
For example, cutting flesh with a knife is equivalent to executing someone, damaging their vital energy, causing them to lose qi and blood, and so on.
Xie Yushu was driven crazy by these two old men. Just then, during her third class, she saw a young imperial physician who was pale, looked pained, and was sweating on his forehead, yet he was still taking notes.
Xie Yushu pointed at the man and immediately made a bet with the two stubborn men to see who could cure him. If they could cure him, Xie Yushu would pack her bags and leave immediately, and go to Emperor Qingyuan to resign. If she could cure him, the two of them would clean the toilets of the Imperial Hospital for three days.
This punishment is not very harmful, but extremely humiliating!
If these two stubborn guys were in modern times, they would at least be chief physicians at top-tier hospitals. Who doesn't have a few apprentices under their command?
Normally, they have eunuchs who carry their boxes and run errands for them. To ask them to clean the toilets is an utter disgrace.
Upon hearing this, the two men were so angry that their beards trembled. They pointed at Xie Yushu and said, "Let's gamble then. Do you think we're afraid of you?"
I'm here to tell you that your evil magic is murder. You accidentally saved the Fifth Prince and then thought you were a divine doctor. The Fifth Prince is of noble birth and has the protection of the dragon's aura. Even without you, he would have recovered slowly. But after you cut him, I heard he can't move now!
The Emperor has been deceived by you!
Xie Yushu nearly burst out laughing when she heard the term "dragon aura," but thankfully she remembered she was in the palace and forced herself to suppress her smile, saying...
"In that case, let's proceed with the diagnosis!"
After Xie Yushu finished speaking, she had someone help the person who was sweating profusely from the pain to the front, in preparation for a medical examination.
That man was indeed honest; despite being in so much pain and sweating profusely, he still remembered to bow to Xie Yushu first.
"Thank you for your trouble, Master."
"It's alright,"
Two people helped him to lie down on the table. Why didn't you say you weren't feeling well sooner? Delaying treatment will only make a minor illness worse and harder to treat!
After Xie Yushu finished speaking, two young imperial physicians immediately came out and helped the person to lie down on the table.
The person was in excruciating pain; it was clear they were trying their best to endure it.
"What's your name? How long have you been in pain?"
"Jiang Feng, the pain started last night."
I thought it would get better after resting, but it's getting worse. I was worried I'd miss your class, so I thought I'd bear with it for a while and then get some medicine after class.
“You can attend my classes anytime. Without good health, how can you practice medicine?”
Xie Yushu examined him while talking, asking him where he felt the most pain and touching his abdomen to see if it was soft, whether it was a single point of pain or the entire abdominal cavity, to determine the severity of his condition.
The man clutched his lower right abdomen in pain.
"It's not the whole abdomen that hurts, just this one spot."
After examining the location of the pain and considering his symptoms, Xie Yushu basically confirmed that it was acute appendicitis.
Having made this mental judgment, he then spoke the words.
"He has acute appendicitis and needs immediate surgery. Otherwise, his life could be in danger!"
I take back what I just said. The competition is suspended. His illness can't be delayed for even a quarter of an hour!
The two men, thinking Xie Yushu was incompetent and making excuses to desert, said disdainfully...
"Men and women should not touch each other. As a princess, you do not know how to respect yourself and shamelessly touch men in public!"
Xie Yushu's face immediately turned cold as she listened to their incessant chatter.
"Please respect my profession."
If you have a way to control his condition, then I can leave it alone.
"If you can't, then shut up! I'm going to operate on him right now!"
The two men were confused when they heard the word "appendicitis".
"What appendicitis? I've practiced medicine for most of my life and I've never heard of such a disease," the two doctors said, before stepping forward to take his pulse.
But as soon as they took each other's pulses, they felt utterly hopeless.
This...this is an appendicitis!
An acute attack of appendicitis can be fatal!
Jiang Feng himself had his suspicions, but he had never encountered such a case before, and he was still hoping for the best.
But once diagnosed, it's still incredibly despairing. No one who gets appendicitis survives; they all die in excruciating pain.
After a moment of despair, Jiang Feng began to struggle to leave his last words.
Xie Yushu held him down.
Why bother leaving a will? It's just an appendix, just remove it. Anyway, it's not like you have one, so it won't affect you much.
Hearing Xie Yushu say this, Jiang Feng thought for a moment, as if he had made up his mind, and said to Xie Yushu...
"Since we're all going to die anyway, I, Jiang, have studied medicine for over a decade, and today I'll put my life to the test."
Master, I am willing to perform this surgery, but I have only one request: I want to be fully aware of the operation so that I can die without regrets.
