Chapter 4 The Emperor Arrives

Leng Ning patted her chest lightly, took a deep breath, and felt a little excited about meeting her new parents.

"The Emperor has arrived!"

"Dismount."

As an elderly maid, who looked like a nanny, called out, "Stop!"

The golden, luxurious car came to a smooth stop.

A man of unparalleled elegance and noble bearing stepped out of the carriage.

Her peach blossom eyes held a smile, her thin lips were slightly pursed, her features were exquisite, her nose was high and straight, her skin was fair, and her whole demeanor gave people a sense of natural elegance, poise and nobility.

She was wearing a golden brocade robe, and upon closer inspection, one could see that the sleeves and hem were embroidered with patterns of divine birds spreading their wings.

The man looked to be about thirty years old. He exuded an air of nobility in every gesture, yet he also possessed an irresistible charm that made people want to get close to him.

Leng Qingning sighed inwardly: So handsome! No wonder he's the Emperor's consort!

Senior Brother Kong Xuanzi had told her that the Emperor was thirty-nine this year, but he didn't look thirty-nine at all; he looked like he was only twenty-nine.

The Emperor walked toward her, supported by a servant.

Leng Qingning stepped forward, knelt on both knees, raised her hands above her head, clasped them together with palms down, and slowly lowered her body to her face, bowing her head and hands to the ground in unison. (This was the highest form of etiquette Leng Qingning could think of).

The Emperor smiled and helped her up, gazing intently at her. His eyes gradually filled with tears. His voice choked with emotion:

"My son, your father has finally seen you."

"You've grown up, that's wonderful."

Although he didn't say much, Leng Qingning could see the longing a father had felt for his daughter for over a decade on his face, and she couldn't help but be moved at that moment.

Although the person in front of her was not the one who raised her, she understood that, according to her master, he was her father, another father besides her father from China.

"Father, father."

"My daughter is fine, don't worry."

"Good, good! Seeing my son grow up so big, so beautiful and so sensible, my heart is filled with joy!"

The Emperor took the silk handkerchief handed to him by a palace servant and wiped away his tears. He then reached out and held Leng Qingning's hand, as if afraid that she would disappear again in the next second.

Feeling the warmth from her palm, Leng Qingning felt a surge of comfort. Turning her head, she noticed Kong Xuanzi, who had been overlooked.

“Father, this is Senior Brother Kong Xuanzi, my master’s eighth disciple. He has been taking care of me during my time at Kongmen Mountain.”

The Emperor looked at Kong Xuanzi with admiration in his eyes.

This boy was born with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes, a tall and upright figure, and an elegant and refined appearance. His eyes were exceptionally heroic, and his clear gaze seemed to see through the world's illusions.

As expected of Kong Chen's disciple!

Kong Xuanzi bowed to him.

The Emperor smiled and said, "Thank you for your care for my son, young friend. Would you like to come to the palace with Ning'er for a few days? I can explain to your master."

"Your Majesty is too kind. Taking care of my junior sister is my duty, so there's no need for thanks. Thank you for the invitation, Your Majesty, but I still have some studies to complete. I plan to finish them before descending the mountain, and I will come to Yue Palace to find my junior sister then."

Seeing that Kong Xuanzi politely declined, the Emperor did not press the matter further. He gestured to a palace servant to bring a box and handed it to Kong Xuanzi.

"This is your palace entry token. Keep it safe. You can come to the palace to see Ning'er whenever you want."

The Emperor thought highly of Kong Xuanzi. In his eyes, this child and Ning'er were a perfect match, a match made in heaven.

If Leng Qingning knew that this was what her newly recognized father was thinking, she would probably vomit blood.

Help!! Let someone else take care of this sparrow. The Emperor has no idea how talkative he is; he's completely fooled by his appearance. Sigh~

After exchanging pleasantries, the three bid farewell to Kong Xuanzi and officially set off.

Throughout the journey, the Emperor showed great care and concern for Leng Qingning, asking her about all the hardships she had endured over the years, and sometimes even shedding tears as he spoke.

The Emperor and Empress knew about the arrival of the twin stars fifteen years ago. A month ago, Master Kongchen sent a message back to Yue Palace, saying that the twins would return to their positions on the first day of the twelfth month. The Empress and Emperor were overjoyed and wept.

Leng Qingning is suffering in her heart, even though she is physically alone. It's not easy for her to tell her adoptive father in modern life, and even if she did, he might not understand.

So the modern situation was omitted, and it was only said that the place she was in was similar to Yue Kingdom, with loving parents and good friends.

The parents on the other side were unaware of the star swap.

She also said that she had experienced a relationship that ended without a result.

Of course, there's a lot of fabrication involved; in short, he portrays himself as a pitiful little thing who can't get love.

Now look what's happened! The Emperor is shocked to learn that no one loves his daughter.

He was very anxious, lamenting that his daughter had a hard life and a bumpy road in love, and said that when he returned to the palace, he would search for the best men in the world to marry her.

Leng Qingning felt ashamed. There was no need for this. Father, the whole world, how could she possibly handle it!

Furthermore, Leng Qingning believed that she had never suffered any hardship since childhood, that her parents in China doted on her, and that her relatives' children and siblings were all kind and loving towards each other.

The only imperfection is that my love life is not going well.

But her father always felt indebted to her, as if she had suffered a terrible sin, and he wanted to make it up to her no matter what.

The Emperor believed that now that she had returned to Yue Kingdom, she was a favored daughter of heaven and should enjoy these privileges.

What else could she do but accept it with a smile, hahaha.

After a three-day journey, Leng Qingning and the Emperor arrived outside Chang Le City, the capital of Yue Kingdom.

Inside Chang Le City—

"Have you heard? Our young master of Dayue Kingdom has been cultivating under Master Kongchen at Kongmen Mountain for fifteen years. A few days ago, His Majesty the Emperor personally went to welcome him, and today the young master is returning."
