What are you doing?
Qin Anran strolled in leisurely with an expression of anticipation for a good show.
She had already finished her call. Hearing Ji Heng explaining something to Leng Qingning, she stood in the corridor for a while longer until there was no more noise inside before pushing the door open and coming in.
"Thank you, Anran," Ji Heng said gratefully.
"Oh, it's nothing! It's only right to go to great lengths for my sisters." Qin Anran patted her chest magnanimously.
"What knife? What's going on?" Leng Qingning asked, puzzled.
“Ningning, I only found out about your illness thanks to Anran. Your parents wouldn’t let me see you. It was Anran who told me the hospital address,” Ji Heng explained.
Leng Qingning was speechless: What a jerk! Why did you tell my ex-boyfriend my hospital address?
"Why did you tell him?" Leng Qingning complained.
Qin Anran stuck out her tongue. "I'm sorry, Ningzi, I was just thinking that having him with you might help you wake up sooner."
Qin Anran felt sorry for the two of them and hoped to bring them together.
As Leng Qingning's best friend in China, Qin Anran naturally knew that Ji Heng was Leng Qingning's unattainable love, which speaks volumes about his status. Of course, she had to help her best friend's unattainable love.
Who knows, maybe one day I can even attend their wedding banquet, and maybe even recognize their children as my godson or goddaughter. How wonderful would that be?
Thinking this, Qin Anran advised Leng Qingning: "Ningzi, you have no idea how worried Ji Heng was during the time you were in a coma. He put aside his work and stayed at the hospital with you every day. Look how thin he has become. You should forgive him. He had no choice."
"You found out too?" Leng Qingning asked Qin Anran.
Qin Anran nodded, "Yes, if I didn't know, would I have betrayed you?"
"What about my parents?"
“Your uncle and aunt are getting old, and your aunt was hospitalized because of the shock of your sudden coma. Your uncle was running back and forth taking care of both of you and your aunt, and he collapsed from exhaustion. We had to coax him back home.”
"How are my parents?" Leng Qingning asked anxiously.
"Don't worry, it's all over now," Qin Anran reassured her.
Leng Qingning nodded, signaling her to continue.
“We lied to your uncle and said that the doctor said you need to be in an absolutely quiet environment to have a chance of waking up. So our group of girlfriends spontaneously organized to have only one person come to take care of you each day, and promised to notify them immediately if there was any news. Actually, it was also to cover for Ji Heng.”
Qin Anran glanced at her watch. "Your uncle and aunt will be here soon."
Upon hearing this, Leng Qingning looked at Ji Heng, her meaning quite clear.
Ji Heng, however, seemed not to understand and remained seated without moving.
Leng Qingning couldn't help but say, "Didn't you say my parents don't like you? Aren't you afraid they'll scold you for staying here?"
“Don’t be afraid, Ningning. Now that you’re awake, I want to stay by your side. I’ll explain everything to your aunt and uncle,” Ji Heng said firmly.
"Oh! Whatever you want."
Ji Heng was very happy. Today, Leng Qingning finally resembled her from three years ago, and was no longer as indifferent to him as she had been a little over a month ago.
Half an hour later, Leng's parents arrived. Leng's mother was overjoyed to see Leng Qingning awake and wept uncontrollably.
"Baby, you scared your mother to death! You naughty child, were you trying to worry me to death? How could you faint at home! What happened the day you fainted?" She said, wiping away tears...
"What do you mean by 'death'? That's so unlucky. My daughter just woke up. Don't curse my precious daughter," the father said softly, wiping away his tears.
"Uncle, Aunt, don't be too sad, no, don't be too happy. Ningzi is fine." Qin Anran finished speaking, her brows furrowing, something seemed off.
Leng Qingning was ashamed! Forgetting to scold her, she quickly comforted Leng's parents.
"Dad, Mom, your daughter is alright, please don't cry."
"Daughter, where do you feel unwell? Mom will go and call the doctor."
"It's okay, Mom. The doctor has already come to see me. I'm really fine, don't worry."
Leng's mother touched Leng Qingning's head; it wasn't hot. The crying stopped, and she finally felt relieved.
"It's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright," said Father Leng with relief.
After calming down, the two noticed Ji Heng standing to the side.
Leng's mother looked impatient: "What are you doing here? An ex-boyfriend should have some self-awareness, okay? I made it very clear last time that Ningning kicked you out, so why are you still here? Don't you ever learn?"
"What else do you want to do?" Father Leng said angrily, "Get out."
Ji Heng abandoned Leng Qingning three years ago, which saddened her for a long time. Leng's parents felt sorry for their daughter and naturally had some opinions about Ji Heng.
Before Ji Heng could speak, Leng Qingning asked first, "Mom, what do you mean, 'last time'? When did that happen?"
With a serious expression, Leng's mother touched Leng Qingning's forehead again. "Are you sick, baby? Have you lost your memory? You don't remember anything from a month and a half ago?"
“She was already a patient, and now her condition has worsened!” Father Leng pointed out.
"What? Mom and Dad, I'm not sick. I just woke up and my mind is all confused. I can't remember anything right now. What happened?" Leng Qingning was really worried sick about her parents.
He then turned to Ji Heng and said, "You tell me."
Ji Heng approached the hospital bed, his face dejected. "Last time I went to your house, you got really angry and told me to get out."
Leng's mother corrected her, "I'm not telling you to get lost, I'm telling you to get lost now, and get far away from here."
“There’s one more thing: if you don’t get out of here, I’ll beat you up,” Father Leng added.
Ji Heng lowered his head in disappointment.
Leng Qingning "..."
This must have been what her sister said. She remembered that she and her sister had swapped souls, and she had just vaguely recalled hearing the word "sister" before she fell unconscious.
Her arrival here means that the other person has also gone into seclusion?
A wave of dizziness washed over her, and Leng Qingning clutched her head.
I feel so weak, I just want to fall asleep...
"Ningning, what's wrong?" the group called out worriedly.
Leng Qingning suddenly felt weak and her mind became even more foggy. She weakly said, "I'm so sleepy..." and then collapsed onto the bed and passed out.
"Doctor, doctor..."
The next day, Leng Qingning woke up.
"Ningning." Ji Heng held up a finger and waved it in front of Leng Qingning's eyes.
"I just fell asleep, not turned stupid. Could you please take your hand away?" Leng Qingning retorted to Ji Heng with a blank expression.
Ji Heng awkwardly withdrew his hand. "Ningning, you fainted last night, and everyone was terrified."
"I'm fine, thank you."
After a good night's sleep, Leng Qingning felt much better. The jumbled memories that had flooded her mind last night were now neatly arranged, surfacing little by little before her eyes, and she remembered them all…
Her mentor and senior brothers who helped her, her loving mother, father, and brothers, her husbands with whom she had promised to stay forever, and her lovely friends...
A tear slid down her cheek. Was fate playing a cruel joke on her?
Or is this just a dream?
