Tao Xiaoxi emerged from her space for the second time, feeling more confident. Even if the Li family refused to keep her and the Sun family disliked her, she still had the resources to survive. Besides special medicines for treating infertility, her space also contained special medicines for treating sexual disharmony. These were not ordinary herbs; they were truly effective immediately after drinking. This excited Tao Xiaoxi immensely. In the 1970s and 1980s, the emphasis was on having food in hand, so she could rest assured. For her, with these treasures in hand, she had no need to worry.
She was just hoping for an egg, but she didn't expect that there was an egg at the bottom of the noodles Li Nanshan brought. This was beyond her expectation.
Li Nanshan seemed to have something to say, but hesitated.
Tao Xiaoxi didn't point it out, but just focused on eating her noodles. After she had finished a whole bowl of noodles and two eggs, Tao Xiaoxi felt a little unsatisfied.
"Not full?" Li Nanshan noticed it and was a little surprised.
Tao Xiaoxi wiped his mouth and said, "It's almost there."
"Then I'll make you another bowl." Li Nanshan suppressed his surprise. He didn't expect that the man, who looked small, had such a big appetite.
Tao Xiaoxi waved her hands and said, "No need. I've just had a serious illness and can't overeat. It's not my last dinner. There's a long time to go. I'll save it for later." After saying that, she smiled at Li Nanshan.
Li Nanshan's scalp felt numb again, and the words in his mouth became even more difficult to speak. He glanced at Tao Xiaoxi, and his eyes caught sight of his father waiting at the door. For the first time, he felt that being mute was really good. It would be torture to keep the words in his mouth and swallow them before speaking them out.
"Just tell me what you want to say." Tao Xiaoxi said, feeling inexplicably soft-hearted.
Li Nanshan was stunned at first, then he spoke, "This is all just a misunderstanding. You have a daughter waiting for you at home. When you decide to go back, we'll take you back."
Tao Xiaoxi then remembered that she had a daughter. She had completely put this matter behind her, but she didn't want to be a mother. Usually she was the one who called people "Mom". When someone suddenly called her "Mom", she didn't feel touched, but horrified.
"Doesn't the girl still have her father?" Tao Xiaoxi said subconsciously.
Li Nanshan was at a loss for words. Everyone in Mantou Village knew that the Sun family didn't like girls, and it was precisely because she gave birth to a girl that she was even more unwelcome. He could imagine the dire situation that girl was living in now.
But her own mother doesn't want her anymore?
Li Nanshan didn't want to beat around the bush anymore, so he withdrew his gaze from the door and said directly, "I can't keep you here. It's neither reasonable nor legal."
Tao Xiaoxi pursed her lips and drooped her eyes, "I didn't ask you to take me in, I just haven't recovered yet. You also know that I am not welcome in Old Sun's family. Now that I have this relationship with you, they must beat me to death. After all, I am lying with you..." Tao Xiaoxi shed tears as she spoke.
Li Nanshan felt a surge of anxiety. Tao Xiaoxi's words had undoubtedly struck a nerve. Originally, her misfortune was her own, and he'd been away at the mines for years, rarely returning. He'd had no experience with her, so it wasn't like he'd felt any sympathy. In this day and age, it was hard for anyone to fend for themselves, so how could they possibly have the energy to meddle in other people's affairs? But now, this difficult situation was staring him in the face, and it was so deeply intertwined with him, that he was forced to reevaluate his relationship with her.
Putting aside all rationality and law, the woman in front of him was indeed pitiful, and his emotions seemed to always follow her uncontrollably.
He'd met her once or twice before, but never felt anything like this. That woman never raised her head, unlike the one before him. Whether she was sad or content, she was like a June flower, bright and beautiful, like a completely different person. This inexplicable feeling played a large part in Li Nanshan's distress over the past two days.
"Do you have any plans?" Li Nanshan asked. If she had other plans, he thought he would try his best to help her.
Tao Xiaoxi shook her head, her face showing despair, "I have died once, no, twice, and I don't want to die again." As she said this, tears welled up in her eyes, but she tried her best to hold them back, which made her look particularly pitiful.
"Then you think about it carefully first, there's no rush." Sure enough, Li Nanshan softened his heart, and his tone was not as firm as before.
Tao Xiaoxi knew when to stop and nodded quickly, "Don't worry, I will definitely think of it as soon as possible."
"No rush, you should rest first." Li Nanshan stepped out and closed the door.
Tao Xiaoxi quickly turned around and leaned on the window frame to look outside, and saw Li Nanshan standing under the eaves, sighing.
He can't do anything to her!
There was a brief noise outside the door. It was Li Nanshan and his father Li Maogen. Tao Xiaoxi covered herself with the quilt and pretended not to hear. She thought to herself, I'm sorry, Li Nanshan. After she has dealt with that bastard Sun Wangcai, she will definitely apologize to him properly.
Her idea was simple: first, take good care of her body, then make that bastard Sun Wangcai lose everything and be despised by thousands of people. Death would be too easy for him.
After eating the noodles, Tao Xiaoxi lay on the kang for another day. Although her body did not move, her mind was not resting. She no longer needed to think about the time travel, and she had almost thought about how to deal with Sun Wangcai. She was sure that she could make that bastard recognize her again and regret knowing her.
That night, while the Li family's courtyard seemed peaceful, there was a hidden turmoil in one room: the eldest sister-in-law's room. She put the herbs she had found into the medicine pot and boiled them with other medicines. As usual, she and her eldest brother each drank a bowl.
The eldest brother rested his head on one hand, holding his wife in the other, looking out the window at the gradually brightening morning light, and asked quietly, "Do you think you need to change the medicine?"
