After receiving Chief Zhang's approval, Shen Ying's expression relaxed, and even his gaze towards Bai Ling softened considerably. After all, this Miss Bai hadn't done anything wrong. She had even pleaded for him; there was no reason for him to continue giving her the cold shoulder.
Sensing the change in the man's expression, Bai Ling smiled knowingly. She bid farewell to Chief Zhang and left the office with Shen Ying.
The two walked together, and during the journey, the man, who had remained silent, spoke up somewhat shyly:
"Thank you for just now."
"Don't mention it, it's all for the children."
Bai Ling's words were both frank and poised, and she also took his feelings into consideration. Shen Ying suddenly felt like he had found someone to confide in, and he told her about his plans to attend the graduation ceremony at school last night and this afternoon, and whether Jiang Yu would be able to attend.
Upon hearing this, Bai Ling was taken aback at first. After learning that the man had no idea she had arranged to meet another woman the previous day, she saw it as a good opportunity and offered words of comfort:
"Actually, what happened between the two of us was just a misunderstanding. As long as you two trust each other, there's no misunderstanding that can't be resolved. However, the root of the problem lies with my uncle, and I will find him and clarify that."
But as you just said, there were no problems between you two before the clothing store was shut down! Comrade Jiang Yu shouldn't have let such a small matter escalate to this point.
But then again, she's probably not the petty type of woman. Nor would she be someone who only cares about interests and disregards feelings. The two of you just lack communication.
Let's find some time to have a good talk; the difficulties will always be resolved.
Bai Ling's words were almost entirely a critique of Jiang Yu. However, her words were rather subtle, and without careful reading, one wouldn't perceive this underlying meaning.
Shen Ying, being a straightforward man, naturally wouldn't consider the hidden meaning in such words. Perhaps it's true, as this Miss Bai said, that Jiang Yu only wants to make money, and there's no love between them.
However, although he was saddened, he knew the problem stemmed from himself, and he felt guilty towards Jiang Yu. He would respect whatever choice she made, and his love for her would not diminish.
Bai Ling knew none of this. Seeing Shen Ying's very bad expression, she assumed her words had worked and continued to speak boldly:
"I just heard you say that Comrade Jiang Yu is in the hospital. It's best not to tell her about attending Sui Sui's graduation ceremony this afternoon. Otherwise, she won't be able to recover properly and will have to worry about it."
If needed, I happen to be free this afternoon. I can help you with that, but you have to treat me to dinner tonight, okay?
The woman's words were half-joking, half-serious. Shen Ying looked at her without saying a word. Although Bai Ling was right, Jiang Yu's main priority now was to recover, he still hoped that the woman could go.
After all, it's her daughter's graduation ceremony, and Shen Suisui will definitely be looking forward to it.
"I was just kidding, don't take it personally."
Seeing that the man didn't respond, Bai Ling quickly explained that she had just said it casually and had no other intentions. Shen Ying watched her hurried explanation, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"I didn't say anything, don't be so sensitive."
"Then, if you need any help, just let me know. I also want to do what I can to make up for the misunderstanding caused by me."
At the intersection ahead, Bai Ling finished speaking, waved, and walked in the opposite direction from the man.
"Don't dwell on what has already happened; it's pointless. Focus on how to make amends now. We'll meet at the main gate this afternoon at four o'clock."
Shen Ying felt terrible every time Bai Ling took all the blame upon herself. Given his personality, he wouldn't let a woman shoulder such a heavy responsibility.
......
At the hospital, Jiang Yu learned from Luo Zewen that today was the graduation day for the Yuhong Class. She thought that Shen Suisui must be looking forward to her going, and when she saw the clock on the wall, she was about to get up and leave with a look of anxiety.
Su Yujing, who was returning from outside with food, saw her and rushed over to help her, asking:
"There's nothing much to do at the company today. Where are you going?"
Seeing his boss's nervous expression, Luo Zewen said somewhat guiltily:
"President Su, President Jiang and I were chatting here. We accidentally mentioned that today is the graduation day for the Yuhong Class, and President Jiang wants to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony."
He scratched his head, afraid the man would get angry. He should have known better than to say that; now, he couldn't take back what he'd said.
President Jiang is a headstrong person; once he hears the news, he'll definitely go. There's no room for negotiation whatsoever.
"Comrade Shen Ying will probably attend, right? You're not fully recovered yet. What if something goes wrong if you go out rashly?"
Su Yujing looked worried and explained the current situation, giving Jiang Yu a warning.
“He went back to his unit today and definitely won’t have time to go. If I don’t go, all the other kids at school will have their parents with them, and Sui Sui will be standing there all alone. It breaks my heart to think about it.”
Jiang Yu sighed, stood up, and slowly walked into the bathroom to wash up.
Seeing this, Su Yujing didn't try to stop him any further. He slowly opened his mouth and said:
“If you don’t mind, I’ll go with you. Let Luo Zewen drive, so that if anything unexpected happens, we can find out immediately.”
His words made a lot of sense, and Jiang Yu agreed without hesitation. Luo Zewen took the opportunity to ask the attending physician for leave, and the group walked outside.
Fortunately, the weather was nice today, with a light breeze and not too hot. After helping the woman into the car, Su Yujing repeatedly reminded her that no matter what happened, her health should be the priority.
I'm worried that if there's any parent-child interaction that involves running and jumping, Jiang Yu might not be able to adapt.
She nodded, expressing her gratitude for their company.
Upon arriving at the school, many parents were already heading into the campus. Su Yujing asked Luo Zewen to go in and inquire. After learning that the ceremony would officially begin at four o'clock, he planned to have the woman wait in the car for a while.
Since it's only a little past three o'clock, and we'd just be waiting anyway, it's better to stay in the car and rest up.
Just as the group was discussing the school's architectural style, a striking couple appeared in front of them when they looked out through the car's windshield.
Although there were no intimate gestures between the two, they not only looked very well-matched, but also seemed to get along very comfortably.
Luo Zewen recognized Shen Ying and tried his best to block the view from the driver's seat. Jiang Yu, in the back, said leisurely:
"Don't block it, I saw it all. Isn't that the woman next to Shen Ying the one who asked me to go to the coffee shop yesterday? What, didn't you recognize her?"
After her reminder, the two craned their necks and stared intently at the scene:
Wow, it really is!
