Chapter 56 Motion Sickness

Shen Suisui blinked, incredulous. Was what her mother just said true? In nineteen days she could go to school? She could go to the city to buy things, and when she came back, she could brag to her brother Dongdong.

Even more excited than her was Chen Niannian. Unlike his sister, he thought there must be delicious food everywhere there. Otherwise, why would his mother always bring back snacks every time she went?

Shen Ying looked at the children's excited expressions and didn't object. From childhood to adulthood, aside from occasionally taking them to their grandmother's, she had never properly taken the two children to the city for a stroll. There was no time like the present, and besides, the weather was nice today; she figured that woman probably wanted to go out too, so she didn't want to spoil their fun.

He instructed the workers to take their families to board the bus.

The ticket seller hadn't seen Jiang Yu in a long time, and greeted her happily when she came to board the bus. Seeing the man and child with her, she almost mistook her for a stepmother.

Otherwise, how could such a young woman give birth to such a big child?

This was Shen Niannian's first time riding in a car since he could remember, and he was full of curiosity about everything. He pointed to the scenery outside the window and clapped his hands excitedly, but soon he felt dizzy.

A wave of nausea rose in my throat, instantly reminding me of the appendicitis I had two days ago; it felt the same way. I clutched my stomach, my face filled with fear.

Grandpa Shen said that if it happens again, he'll have to cut off my stomach. This is terrible.

Shen Niannian thought that as long as she didn't tell her parents, things would probably get better soon. She sat obediently in her seat and behaved herself.

Seeing his unusual behavior, Jiang Yu called his name twice but received no response. Worried, she hugged him and touched his forehead, which did not seem like he had a fever.

"Mom, I feel like throwing up."

Shen Niannian felt like the contents of her stomach were churning and surging, and she felt like she was about to vomit if she opened her mouth. She really couldn't hold on any longer.

Jiang Yu asked the ticket seller for a bag, and seeing that he was very carsick, the young lady even gave him some fruit candies from her pocket.

After vomiting, Shen Niannian felt much better. Shen Ying unwrapped the candy, thanked the ticket seller, and put the candy into his mouth.

The little rascal nestled in his mother's arms, mumbling sleepily:

"Mommy, I don't feel pain every year, and I don't want to have my stomach cut open every year."

Jiang Yu was stunned for a moment, and it took her a while to understand. She patiently explained to Shen Niannian what motion sickness was and why people get motion sickness.

A short while later, the car arrived at its destination. Shen Ying carried the child over, and the family of four got out of the car. Shen Niannian felt that she was alright and struggled to jump down. Holding her sister's hand, she looked at the bustling city.

Looking left and right, it wished it had eight pairs of eyes.

Shen Sui Sui was the same, though not as noticeably as her younger brother. Because it was during the Spring Festival, many parents were taking their children out to play. They were dressed in nice clothes and carrying all sorts of toys, which made the two little children extremely envious.

I wish they could live here too.

As they entered the department store, a child was lying on the ground throwing a tantrum at the entrance, while the parents stood by quietly watching, doing nothing. People around said the child wanted a toy, but the mother wouldn't buy it for him, hence the outburst. Startled, Shen Niannian held Jiang Yu's hand tightly.

"Mommy, I'll be good and I don't want any toys."

Jiang Yu chuckled and patted his little head, saying:

"Okay, Niannian is the best girl."

In the department store, Jiang Yu immediately spotted a pink backpack hanging on the wall and asked a sales assistant to bring it over for her to try on. She didn't forget to ask Shen Sui Sui's opinion, and seeing the little girl's eyes light up, she knew it was perfect.

"Shop assistant, bring us that pink backpack so we can take a look."

As the sound came, a stylishly dressed lady was seen touching her freshly permed hair, arrogantly ordering the shop assistant around.

The shop assistant hesitated for a moment, then looked at Jiang Yu, as if to suggest she look at other things. Jiang Yu was speechless. When selling things, the principle of first come, first served is paramount. She couldn't just give in to that arrogant lady because of her domineering manner, could she?

"Madam, I'm sorry, we liked the schoolbag first."

Jiang Yu glanced at the wealthy woman, then at the shop assistant, her purpose clear.

"Times have really changed; even people from the countryside are shopping in malls now. But this backpack is made of pretty good material, and it looks like it costs at least ten yuan. Can I afford it?"

Looking at Jiang Yu's cheap clothes and then at the rough fabrics worn by her two children, he concluded that the family was poor. He secretly scoffed: "They act like big shots just because they're in the city. Do they even know the way around here? Can they even shop properly?"

"What do you mean."

Seeing that Jiang Yu was about to clash with the woman, Shen Suisui fearfully gripped her mother's hand and shook her head:

"Mom, I don't want it anymore."

The child beside the wealthy woman looked to be about the same age as Shen Suisui, but the difference between the two was like night and day. The girl wore the same red bow her mother had bought her last time, a pink dress, and little leather shoes. In contrast, although Shen Suisui also wore new clothes bought by her mother, she couldn't compare to the elegance and poise she exuded.

"What do you mean? Is what I'm saying so hard to understand? If you give her the bag and she touches it, we won't buy it."

The wealthy woman's words seemed to have a certain intimidating effect. The waitress, adept at judging people by their status, grabbed her bag and walked towards her. The wealthy woman rolled her eyes, looking at her with disdain.

"What? Is this how all the rules and regulations are in your store? Or are you just arrogant and disrespectful? If that's the case, I'll have to give your manager a good talking-to."

Jiang Yu's words startled the shop assistant. Shen Ying, who had been silent until now, also spoke up:

“Madam, you may think you are so noble, but you can’t look down on the villagers. Without the labor of the rural people, you wouldn’t even have food to eat, let alone stroll around here in your fancy clothes. Also, after living in the city for so long, you should know about the so-called first-come, first-served rule, right? What you’re doing only tarnishes the image of the city people you think you have, and it doesn’t serve any purpose.”

The wealthy woman, seeing that Jiang Yu looked like she had just come of age, assumed she was bringing her younger siblings to the city and thought that without any adults around, she would be easy to bully. However, when she saw the man beside her, who was with them, her heart skipped a beat. The man looked distinguished and seemed to have a powerful background, making her somewhat flustered.

"So what? I said I want it, so you have to give it to me."

The noblewoman's actions were identical to hers, even her eye-rolling expression was exactly the same. The argument attracted a crowd of onlookers. The noblewoman, not wanting to lose face, intended to confront them head-on. Her voluptuous figure pushed through the crowd, her tone full of sarcasm.

"Zhou Yue, you seem quite irritable during the Lunar New Year?"

Upon seeing that it was Li Xue, accompanied by Commander Zhang, Jiang Yu panicked.
