Chapter 70: The feel must be great.

With anticipation, I found the place. The pockmarked man wasn't lying; there really was a Su's Fabric Factory. However, the factory was quite large, unlike the kind of unscrupulous factory that would rip people off.

In comparison, the other two companies seemed rather stingy. Jiang Yu was full of doubt; these two were the ones who really needed to recruit people, so why were they the ones doing the opposite?

As she hesitated outside, wondering which store to go to, a group of people emerged from Su's Fabric Store. It looked like a large-scale wholesale clothing store, and they were chatting and laughing with the man who had come to see her off.

Everything they said was from the contract.

In contrast, the other two restaurants looked desolate and miserable. Filled with doubt, Jiang Yu went to Su Ji's restaurant. There were security guards outside, and Jiang Yu was particularly cautious, worried that the group from before might be planted or relatives.

"Comrade, I'd like to ask if you know someone..."

Jiang Yu described the pockmarked man's features and even asked him if he was related to anyone in the factory. The security guard's answer surprised her.

It turns out that the man was hired by Su Ji Fabric's rival to smear their reputation. If someone actually followed them, the pockmarked man would say something different: that he had relatives in Su Ji Fabric who could get insider prices, and then he would trick them into going to the factory that hired him, taking a cut from the deal.

Jiang Yu felt relieved and, guided by the dedicated security guard, went directly to the office.

I pushed open the door and entered; inside was a woman. She appeared to be in her forties and had a very kind face.

Upon hearing Jiang Yu's description, the woman led her to the fabric room, explaining the processing steps in detail and showing her samples. They were all very fashionable, suitable for a wide range of people, and the prices were roughly the same.

Jiang Yu selected a lot of materials, signed the agreement, paid the deposit, explained the location of the store, and then left.

Because time was tight and she was worried about missing the bus, she didn't go to the department store and went straight home.

On the way, villagers who saw her carrying a pile of fabric home started talking amongst themselves. The fabric didn't look cheap, so she probably spent a lot of money to buy it to make clothes.

"Mom, this fabric is so smooth, I've never seen it before."

When Shen Sui Sui learned that her family owned a clothing store, she thought her mother was really amazing and wanted to learn a skill to earn money like her in the future.

But it seems that in life, her mother always made her focus on her studies. As the start of school drew closer, her expectant eyes shone even brighter.

"When school starts in a couple of days, Mom will make you a new outfit out of this fabric. You can choose whatever color you want."

Jiang Yu had been thinking about making clothes for the child for a while, but she had been too busy these past few days and hadn't had the chance.

Once she receives the fabric, finishes making the sample, and buys a reliable sewing machine, she'll have the time to do it.

Shen Sui Sui nodded, her eyes revealing her inner joy.

Before long, several women from the village came to knock on the door. Jiang Yu looked at the seven or eight women outside and was momentarily stunned. She thought for a long time but couldn't remember what day it was.

To avoid giving anyone cause for gossip, she politely invited everyone inside.

"Hey girl, I heard you got a batch of pretty fabric in the city. Can you show it to us? Spring is just around the corner, and everyone wants to make some clothes so that it won't be a waste that we didn't make any new clothes for the New Year."

Generally speaking, people in small villages usually make clothes for their children during the Lunar New Year, but rarely make clothes for themselves. Partly because they don't have time, and partly because they are indeed expensive.

But spring clothes are different. After all, the fabric is thin, and you can wear them for another season in autumn, so it seems like a good deal.

"Then, come in."

Jiang Yu smiled, her eyes softening. Since what happened before the New Year, and the approval from Shen Yingfa's wives during their last meal at home, many people had changed their opinion of her.

Many people feel that she embodies the free and easy spirit that women under oppression should have, and when discussing Jiang Yu, they always intentionally or unintentionally side with her.

Women who had gained approval flocked to the bed, their eyes filled with undisguised delight at the sight of the various fabrics spread out on it.

I was so careful not to get it dirty that I made sure to ask Jiang Yu before touching it and washed my hands thoroughly. This fabric feels so comfortable no matter how you touch it. Everyone's curious to see what it will feel like to wear it; I imagine it'll be weightless and incredibly comfortable.

Seeing the envious looks on everyone's faces, Jiang Yu smiled and said:

"Aunties and sisters-in-law, I've opened a clothing store in the department store, and I also offer custom-made items. If you're interested, you can come and take a look when you come to the city. I'll definitely give you the best discounts."

In her view, these people didn't seem like the kind of people like Zhang Xinhua who sowed discord and smeared others. Their simple and honest nature made her feel very comfortable, so there was nothing wrong with speaking out.

Upon hearing her words, everyone exchanged bewildered glances, then reacted with the same shocked expression that Jiang Yu had anticipated.

"Really? Jiang Yu, you're amazing! I wish I had half your strength."

"That's right. My mom taught me needlework since I was little, but I didn't like it at all. I was always lazy, and she always scolded me. If I had my sister-in-law's skills, my mom would have praised me to the skies."

Everyone was having a great time discussing it, and there was no deliberate flattery or disparagement in their words.

After discussing the fabric, they started talking about what was happening in the village. Jiang Yu wasn't particularly interested in these things, but she couldn't resist her occasional gossip and wanted to hear a bit.

It is said that the day after Jiang Meier returned home from the city, Jiang Chun couldn't wait to arrange a blind date for her. The man was the same as before, still the big, simple-minded guy from Shicun. Because he was getting on in years, his family was willing to offer a dowry of 1,000 yuan to marry Jiang Meier, as long as she was willing.

Jiang Chun tried many methods of persuasion at home, including threats and inducements. In the end, when he had no other choice, he accepted the betrothal gifts and locked her in a dark room.

Jiang Meier is also a character; although she lacks ability, she never appoints people. She ran away two days ago and hasn't been found since.

Because of the unpleasant situation after signing the agreement with Jiang Yu, Jiang Chun didn't talk to her about it. Seeing that there was really no other way, he returned the betrothal gifts and sat in the courtyard every day cursing Jiang Meier.

Jiang Dalong even planned to sell her after she returned.

Jiang Yu wasn't bothered by her fate; on the contrary, she was worried that this vicious 'sister' would come knocking on her door again, which would be a real problem.

As evening approached, the man she hadn't seen all day returned from outside, carrying a sewing machine on his shoulder. Because it was winter, he was wearing thick clothes, so Jiang Yu couldn't see his muscles, but she was certain they would feel good to the touch.
