Zhang Yanfang suppressed her guilt and put on a magnanimous demeanor. She was certain the other party would know when to stop and leave in a hurry.
Jiang Yu genuinely felt this was too troublesome, and her goal this time was to find a way to make money. Wasting time on this wasn't worthwhile. But seeing Zhang Yanfang's state, if this matter wasn't handled properly, it would be difficult to explain later.
"First of all, I really didn't take anything from your store. Not only did you frame me, but you also slandered me without any evidence, damaging my reputation. I've already said that I could have chosen to call the police. But you refused, citing store losses, and then tried to smear me. I can't accept that."
"But then again, if you really want to handle this properly, then apologize to me sincerely in front of everyone, and this matter will be over."
Jiang Yu's 180-degree turn caught Zhang Yanfang off guard. She never expected that this seemingly harmless woman would have such a sharp tongue.
At this point, she dared not be arrogant anymore and obediently apologized. When the onlookers heard her admit her mistake, they all turned their anger towards Zhang Yanfang.
Unable to bear the whispers and pointing fingers, Zhang Yanfang turned and went back into the shop.
"Comrade, thank you for today. What is your surname? I will thank you in person another day."
Seeing that everyone had dispersed, Jiang Yu came to Li Xianxue.
"It's nothing, just a small matter."
Li Xianxue waved his hand, picked up his brown tote bag, and hurried to the bank. Jiang Yu stared at his retreating figure, and couldn't help but sigh:
"A gentleman of modesty and refinement."
Jiang Yu didn't linger and walked a few steps to the entrance of a clothing store.
The shop wasn't big, but it was very clean. There were many samples hanging on the walls, and a sewing machine on the table.
The shop manager, Jin Juan, is a woman in her thirties who is making clothes on a sewing machine. This was the kind of custom-made clothing that existed in the early days.
Jiang Yu had designed clothes before transmigrating into the book, and they all sold very well. Seeing her working now, she couldn't resist taking a few more glances.
"Comrade, do you want to buy clothes?"
Jin Juan noticed her at this moment and asked her enthusiastically. Jiang Yu glanced at the clothes hanging on the wall; the samples looked ordinary, so she quickly waved her hand.
She was about to ask if they were hiring when a woman with curly hair stormed into the shop.
As soon as she entered the store, she threw the clothes she was holding, which hit Jin Juan squarely. Jin Juan was completely bewildered and had no idea what had happened.
"What kind of clothes did you make? You look like a steamed bun when you wear them. I reminded you from the beginning that you should make them according to my body proportions, but look at this, you can wear the clothes as a bathrobe."
After entering the store, the customer found a stool, sat down, and started hurling insults at her. Jin Juan, fearing things would escalate, quickly apologized.
"How about this, I'll refund you the money for the clothes, and you can keep the clothes as a gift."
She knew this customer was Li Xue, the wife of Commander Zhang from the military compound. She wielded immense power, and few dared to offend her. Refunding the money was the best solution Jin Juan could come up with.
Little did she know that the other person was not short of money at all, and when she heard her bring up money, she couldn't help but scold her again.
"Do you know that I came to you to have my clothes made because someone recommended me? And this outfit is for an event, we can't even keep up with the demand, and you think you can just pay me and be done with it?"
Because of her own skill level and the client's status, Jin Juan was almost in tears. When she made this dress, she had specifically consulted some experienced tailors, just in case the customer wasn't satisfied. Moreover, she had tried her best to make the dress look elegant and sophisticated, leaving no room for alterations.
Jiang Yu overheard the gist of the conversation and realized that this customer was no ordinary person. While the two were arguing, she picked up the garment and examined it.
The pattern is quite nice and suits this lady's style. However, she is on the heavier side, so a standard approach would naturally have some minor flaws. With slight modifications, it could not only conceal the extra weight around her waist but also serve as a decorative element.
“Madam, I do have a solution.”
Jin Juan felt like she had grasped at a straw, but upon closer inspection, she saw that it was the same person who had been lingering at the door, and she was greatly disappointed.
She was already too angry to speak after being scolded by Li Xue, and then this troublemaker came along, making her even more annoyed.
"If you want to play, go somewhere else and don't get in my way."
Her tone was impatient; the most important thing now was to appease Li Xue, and everyone else meant nothing to her. Li Xue, however, didn't see it that way. She felt that since Jin Juan had no other options, why not try someone else?
Or we could ask her what she thinks first, even if it's a last resort.
"What's your idea? Tell me."
Hearing Li Xue say this, Jin Juan became anxious. She was afraid that Jiang Yu would mess things up, and then her shop would have to cover for her.
"It's actually quite simple. Your figure is on the fuller side, and ordinary workmanship can't bring out your elegant and noble temperament. Just cut the waist of this dress open, and then find a similar piece of fabric to make pleats and sew them on. It will look much better."
Jiang Yu was afraid that she wouldn't understand, so she specially picked up the paper and pen on the table and drew it out.
Li Xue was quite pleased to hear her praise; she hadn't expected this young girl to be so sweet-talking. But after looking at the drawings, she became somewhat anxious.
"Can it be made today? I need to wear it tomorrow."
It mainly involved military activities; if time hadn't been so tight, she wouldn't have been so aggressive.
"Give me an hour, no problem at all."
Jiang Yu's confident demeanor relieved Jin Juan. Li Xue had looked like she wanted to have her shop smashed up just moments before. Now, thankfully, the shop was saved.
"Since there's no problem with making changes, shouldn't we talk about funding?"
She's not some living saint who comes to accumulate good deeds and do good deeds; she has two children to support, so the price needs to be negotiated carefully.
"this..."
Jin Juan was clearly taken aback. She glanced at Li Xue, then smiled obsequiously:
"That's right, then I'll give you ten yuan. What do you think, young lady?"
Jiang Yu pretended to think for a moment, then shook her head.
"Fifty, fixed price."
As soon as she said that, Jin Juan thought she had heard the biggest joke in the world.
"Young lady, you may not know this, but after deducting the cost of fabric and thread, I only make eight yuan to make a garment in my shop. Giving you ten yuan is already a very high price."
She felt that Jiang Yu was taking advantage of her vulnerability and deliberately asking for a high price.
"Well, you ruined the dress you made for this lady, and there was no way to fix it. I've helped you, and you can use my patterns to make other clothes in the future. It's like I've taught you a method."
But we're not related, so I can't just do you a favor for free, can I?
