Chapter 108 Powerful Guardian

It was just getting light, but the sky was overcast.

They stopped, temporarily putting aside their grief, and quickly set up camp.

Lin Shuo unloaded the carts and set up a simple tent with tarpaulin between the carts, and also set up one for a few horses.

The surrounding area was barren. The Yun family's guards led the uninjured villagers to the mountain to cut firewood and start a fire.

After settling in at home, Lin Shuo took Lin Yiheng, Lin Fu, and Liu Ji up the mountain to chop firewood.

Lin Yinan was about to go check on the injured people, but she left in a hurry and many of them hadn't had time to be bandaged.

She went into the tent, took out her first-aid kit, and when she opened it, she put in a lot of disinfectant and wound medicine.

Arriving at another tent, Lin Yinan lifted the curtain and glimpsed a boy sitting in the corner warming himself by the fire. He was some distance away from Lin Yi'an and the other children. The boy seemed to be thinking about something, his eyes darting around.

Grandma Zhao is old and had stayed up all night, so she was feeling a bit tired and was dozing off.

The boy looked up and was suddenly met with Lin Yinan's cold and sharp eyes. He hurriedly lowered his head.

Lowering the curtain, Lin Yinan found Hu Shao feeding the horses with the Lin Yizhang brothers.

Hu Shao put down the hay he was holding and rushed over. "Sister, you were looking for me?"

Having been taken in by Lin Yinan and provided with food and clothing, Hu Shao worked very hard.

Lin Yinan glanced at Grandma Zhao's tent and gestured to him, "That boy inside is restless. Keep an eye on him for me and make sure he doesn't cause any more trouble."

"Don't worry, sis, I promise I'll keep an eye on things every step of the way."

Hu Shao made a promise, then looked down and saw the medicine box in Lin Yinan's hand. He asked, "Sister, you can treat illnesses?"

"There are too many injured people, and Dr. Lin and the others are too busy to handle them all, so I'm helping them bandage their wounds."

I never expected his sister to be so capable; she even knows how to bandage wounds. He really made the right choice in following her.

Hu Shao smiled broadly and said, "Sister, don't worry, I'll take care of things at home."

The Yun family had their guards set up a tent specifically for Doctor Lin and Yun Wu to treat the injured.

Before Lin Yinan even got close with the medicine box, she heard the cries of an injured person coming from inside.

Lifting the curtain and stepping inside, the tent was large, with over thirty injured villagers and guards lying or sitting inside.

The situation was more serious than expected. Most of the villagers and guards had knife wounds. Doctor Lin and Yun Wu, along with several guards, were cleaning and bandaging them.

Large wounds require sutures.

Lin Yinan looked around and found several people injured by explosives in a corner.

A girl with half her face blown off stood guard next to a girl even younger than her.

The little girl lying on the tarpaulin was only a little over ten years old, covered in blood and grime, with one arm bound by a long strip of cloth.

Lin Yinan looked closely and saw that the girl's left hand had been blown off, and she had already lost consciousness.

She quickly picked up her medicine box and went over. When she got closer, she saw that the girl whose face had been injured by the explosion was only thirteen or fourteen years old. Her right cheek was a bloody mess, and there was blood and dirt mixed in with the wound.

A woman with a blank expression sat next to the girl, holding two sleeping boys in her arms.

Lin Yinan squatted down to examine the girl with the severed hand. The girl's hand had been blown off, her arm was bound with strips of cloth, and there was still some blood seeping from the wound, but it seemed that the bleeding had stopped.

"This child has lost too much blood and may not survive."

Yun Wu stood silently behind her, watching Lin Yinan examine the little girl.

Lin Yinan looked up at him and said, "I'm confident she can live. You come and help me."

The girl sitting next to me had shining eyes and a hopeful expression on her face. "Sister Anan, did my sister really survive?"

"Yes, you can go to the side now, we'll bandage her wound."

The girl obediently got up and stood aside. Despite her injured face, she didn't utter a sound.

"Miss Lin, what do you intend to do?" Yun Wu squatted down beside her, his expression solemn.

Lin Yinan opened the medicine box and took out the wound cleaning solution, cotton, gauze, and two pairs of gloves.

By the firelight, the two cleaned the girl's wounds, stitched them up, applied medicine, and bandaged them.

Finally, Lin Yinan gave the girl an injection of anti-inflammatory medicine into her muscle to prevent infection of the wound.

"Miss Lin, what kind of medicine do you have?"

Yunwu had never seen such a medicine before, which was injected into the body with a thin, long needle.

"Our sect's secret medicines are never passed on to outsiders."

Lin Yinan feigned profundity, silencing Yun Wu's attempt to press further.

Next, Lin Yinan cleaned the girl's facial injuries.

To ease the girl's pain, Lin Yinan talked to her while cleaning her up.

The girl's name is Lin Chunni, and the one with the broken hand is her younger sister, Lin Xiaomei.

The bomb Chen Zixuan threw landed right in their family's camp. Grandma and Grandpa were holding their two younger brothers at the time, and they were killed instantly. Fortunately, the two younger brothers were unharmed. Their mother injured her lower back, their younger sister lost her hand, and she was injured in the face. All the cattle and grain tied to the cart were gone.

When his father killed the bandits, he was stabbed in the leg. Yunwu stitched him up, and he was also lying in the tent, unable to move.

Lin Chunni kept rambling on, "Sister Anan, how can our family even make it to the South?"

"We'll reach the South," Lin Yinan said softly.

The further south you go, the harder life becomes for the villagers. Now that they've suffered another disaster, the village should come up with some kind of plan.

I'll discuss it with my brother later and see if we can take some of the food from our storage space and share it with the poor families in the village.

As Chunni's mother listened to the two talking, her mood gradually calmed down.

"Anan, will Chunni have a scar on her face? Will it affect her marriage prospects?"

As a mother, my biggest worry is still my children's future.

Lin Chunni said nonchalantly, "Mother, I won't get married in the future. I'll just stay here and take care of my sister."

Hearing her mention her little daughter, Chunni's mother wiped away her tears again.

Why are her two daughters so unfortunate!

Lin Yinan tried to comfort her, saying, "Only by becoming stronger can you overcome anything."

"Like you?"

Lin Chunni looked up at her, her eyes filled with admiration.

Lin Yinan said softly, "Yes, just like me!"

She also needs to become stronger so that she can protect her children and family in the future.

After applying the medicine to Lin Chunni's face, she also treated the wound on Chunni's mother's waist.

Chunni's mother thought it was a minor injury and didn't need any medicine, until Lin Yinan picked out two pieces of shrapnel the size of fingernails from the wound, and she realized how frightening it was.

Anan said that if this thing remained in the wound, she would not survive sooner or later.

Lin Yinan didn't emerge from the wounded soldiers' tent until nearly noon.

Back at their campsite, Lin Shuo and his nephews, who had gone up the mountain to chop firewood in the snow, had already returned.

The men in the village also held a meeting with the Yun family.

Back in her tent, after putting away her first-aid kit, Lin Yinan took out a pancake from her spatial storage and started eating it while no one was around. She was eating a lot these days and was already starving.

"Anan, are you there? I have something to tell you," Lin Yiheng called out to her from outside the tent.
