Zhao Shi, holding five-year-old Lin Yichun, sat on the horse's back. Seeing Lin Yinan smearing the horse with medicine, making it all colorful, she forced herself not to frown and said, "Anan, why did you smear the horse like this?"
The old lady was shrewd; she must have noticed something at the city gate. Lin Yinan took two steps closer.
"Grandma, these two are Akhal-Teke horses, they stand out among all the livestock."
"Are we being watched?" the old lady immediately thought.
Lin Yinan remained silent, which was taken as tacit agreement.
The old lady was thinking that when she rested later, she would pick some colored grass and apply more to the horse.
The people of Linjia Village quickly entered the dense forest, while the refugees who had been watching them from the city gate followed far behind.
Lin Yinan looked up and immediately had an idea.
She quietly moved back, and Li Shulan, who had sharp eyes, noticed that she had fallen a few steps behind and hurriedly asked, "Anan, are you tired?"
After saying that, she struggled to get off the horse, but Lin Yinan reached out and grabbed her.
"Mom, I need to use the restroom."
"I'll go with you."
In the desolate mountains and wilderness, girls of all ages would relieve themselves in groups of several, or have their brothers help watch over them, so that they could look after each other.
"No need, I'll be back soon. Don't worry, I brought my bow and arrows."
Lin Yinan pointed to the bow and arrow slung on his back, then turned and entered the dense forest.
Lin Yinan was used to working alone in her previous life, and even in group missions, she preferred to act alone.
Lin Qiutao walked ahead, her eyes always glancing at Lin Yinan intentionally or unintentionally. When she saw Lin Yinan leave the group alone, her eyes flickered slightly, and she whispered in Yu Suqin's ear.
Then he walked to the back of the group and hid behind a big tree.
As the villagers of Linjia Village gradually walked away, Lin Yinan glanced at the big tree where Lin Qiutao was hiding, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.
She took arrows from her quiver, drew her bow, nocked the string, and aimed at the twelve refugees who were chasing after her with knives.
As they drew closer, she fired three arrows in quick succession, the arrows piercing the body with a soft thud.
Lin Yinan's arrows never missed their mark; one person was shot through the throat, making a gurgling sound as he collapsed and convulsed.
Another man was shot between the eyebrows, his eyes wide open, and he fell straight to the ground, dying with his eyes wide open.
The last one was shot in the chest, his mouth wide open, blood and foam continuously flowing from it.
The others were thrown into disarray by the sudden attack and turned to run away, howling like ghosts.
Lin Yinan put away his bow and arrows. After the people had gone far away, he came out of the dense forest where he was hiding. He calmly pulled the arrows from the corpses, wiped them on their clothes, and put them into the quiver.
He then squatted down and took out several wallets from the three men. He weighed them in his hand and found they were quite heavy, containing a considerable amount of money.
These refugees were dressed in coarse linen clothes, unlike wealthy people; they probably robbed others of their belongings.
After putting away the money pouch, she turned and walked towards where Lin Qiutao was hiding.
"You've seen enough, come out!"
Lin Qiutao had clearly seen Lin Yinan kill without blinking an eye, and almost screamed out loud, but she covered her mouth tightly with her hand.
Terrified, Lin Qiutao looked up and saw Lin Yinan standing in front of her, looking at her with a half-smile.
That smile was like that of a demon from hell. Lin Qiutao suddenly stood up, her finger trembling as she pointed at her, "You killed someone!!"
"Yeah! What should I do? Should I kill you too to silence you?"
As he spoke, Lin Yinan brandished the dagger across her chest, saying, "I'll stab you right here, straight to your heart. I promise you won't suffer too much pain, and you'll die quickly."
Lin Qiutao's already pale face turned even paler. Her eyes widened in terror, and after a long while, she let out a scream of "Ah!" before turning and running away.
After a few threats, Lin Yinan only hoped that the mother and daughter wouldn't cause any more trouble.
She quickly returned to her own group, and Li Shulan was relieved to see that she was unharmed.
The people of Linjia Village continued their journey for nearly an hour. The village chief sent some young men from the village to check behind them and found that the group of people had not followed.
So they found a flat spot where everyone could stop and rest.
"The village chief told us to rest here for half an hour before setting off again."
Lin Shuo returned to convey the village chief's message.
The old lady began to systematically arrange tasks such as starting a fire, fetching water, and digging for wild vegetables.
Lin Yinan carried a basket on his back and followed Zhang to dig for wild vegetables.
Lin Yi'an and Lu Changqing followed closely by his side, along with his second cousin Lin Yisong and his cousin Lin Yirong.
In September, the mountains and forests were still full of wild vegetables, and before long, everyone had dug up half a basket.
The eldest cousin, Lin Yizhang, came to call everyone back for dinner, and only then did everyone reluctantly leave.
On the way back, we passed by the place where Lin Qiutao and her family were resting.
Lin Qiutao saw Lin Yinan from afar and hid away like a frightened bird.
Yu Suqin was unaware of what her daughter had gone through, and her resentful gaze followed Lin Yi'an.
Her own son died, so why is Li Shulan's son still alive and well?
She hated it! She hated it so much she gritted her teeth.
Lin Yinan seemed to have eyes in the back of her head, quickly turning around to see the resentment in Yu Suqin's eyes.
Her eyes turned cold, and she immediately exuded a terrifying aura of killing intent.
Lin Qiutao looked up and was so frightened by the aura that she didn't dare to breathe. She hurriedly reached out to grab Yu Suqin's hand.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?! Why are you pulling me like that?" Yu Suqin was furious and flung her hand away.
Lin Qiutao whispered, "Mother, stop looking. Lin Yinan is a ruthless killer."
"You've seen him?"
Seeing that Lin Yinan had already walked far away, Lin Qiutao patted her chest and told her the whole story of how Lin Yinan killed someone on the way up the mountain.
"Is it really that amazing?"
