Dr. Lin's wife lifted the curtain and came out looking haggard.
She said in a hoarse voice, "Dr. Lin is sick. You should go find the Yun family's doctor."
The people who had come turned around and ran towards the Yun family's camp.
"Master, more than a dozen of our men are unwell, which may delay our journey today."
Yun Yi and his men reported the situation of the secret guards to Yun Mo.
Having resolved a major issue last night, Yun Mo looked refreshed and in high spirits.
"How is the situation?"
"Yun Wu has already been sent over to check on them. Most of them have a fever, and a few have vomiting and diarrhea."
Thinking of the situation in Luo Chu City, Yun Mo frowned and asked Yun Yi, "How many of these sick guards were on a mission in Luo Chu City?"
Yun Yi said, "Only three of them were from Yun Guoluo Chu City."
"Let's go take a look."
Yun Mo was worried and wanted to go and see for himself.
"Look, where is Young Master Yun!"
Six villagers from Linjia Village rushed straight towards Yun Mo, shouting as they went, "Young Master Yun, help us!"
Yun Mo stopped and looked at the villagers, frowning unhappily. His little nephew, who was born in the mountain village, had been crying and fussing all night, and his mother and second sister-in-law had spent the whole night comforting him, so naturally he was still not up.
Yun Yi shouted, "What are you yelling about? What happened?"
The villager leading the group stepped forward and bowed, saying, "Third Young Master, someone in our family is ill, and we would like to ask Doctor Lü or Doctor Yun Wu to come and take a look."
"Isn't there Doctor Lin?" Yun Mo asked, puzzled.
The villagers said anxiously, "We just went to invite Dr. Lin, but he has also fallen ill."
Yun Mo and Yun Yi exchanged a glance, both sensing from each other's eyes that something unusual was amiss.
"Go and invite Doctor Lü out," Yun Yi instructed the passing guards.
"What are the symptoms of the sick person in your family?" Yunmo asked the villager.
"My grandson's face was flushed red from the fever."
"My old man was vomiting and had diarrhea. He got up several times during the night and was completely exhausted."
Yun Mo didn't show it on his face, but his heart skipped a beat. These symptoms were very similar to those of the secret guards.
Doctor Lü was pulled along quickly by the guards, who kept whispering, "Slow down, slow down! The ground is slippery, be careful of my old bones!"
They pulled him to Yun Mo's side, the guard slung the medicine box back over Doctor Lü's shoulder, saluted, and turned to leave.
Where is the patient?
Yun Mo pulled him aside and whispered, "The symptoms of illness in the villagers of Linjia Village are exactly the same as those of the secret guards. Yun Wu is with the secret guards, so keep a close eye on the villagers. I suspect they may have contracted the plague in Luochu City."
"Plague?" Doctor Lü was shocked and quickly took out a mask from his sleeve and put it on.
"I only have initial suspicions."
Thinking it better to be safe than sorry, Doctor Lü nodded repeatedly, "I understand."
Doctor Lü left with the villagers, and Yun Mo, with a cloth tied around his face, walked towards the Dark Guard camp.
Yun Wu arrived early and instructed his men to isolate the sick guards in a separate tent.
The sick guards seemed to be in pretty good spirits; those who were awake were chatting and laughing, and those who were asleep were pale but otherwise showed no signs of illness.
"How are they?" Yun Mo asked the busy Yun Wu.
Yun Wu pointed at the two unconscious people and said, "The two of them were exhausted from diarrhea last night, and they took antidiarrheal medicine this morning before falling asleep."
"Could it be a plague?" Yun Mo was a little worried, after all, the situation in Luo Chu City was so chaotic.
Yun Wu looked serious, frowned and pondered for a long time before saying, "It's hard to say. We've already picked up the medicine and taken it down to brew. We'll have to see how they react after drinking it."
At this moment, the guards brought in a basin of burning mugwort.
"Fifth Brother, where should we put the mugwort?"
Yun Wu pointed to the open space in the middle of the tent, "Let's put it here."
"How much mugwort do we have left?" Yun Mo asked.
“If you see me on the road, I’ll have my brothers collect some. There’s still quite a bit left.” Yun Wu understood what he meant. “You want to burn some for each tent?”
"Yes, let everyone smell it."
In an instant, the entire camp was filled with thick smoke and a terrifying atmosphere.
Dr. Lin has fallen, and the Yun family has made their move. Even though no one says anything, everyone is on tenterhooks.
Lin Yinan was awakened by the smell of mugwort. She was alone in the tent; no one else was there.
She was given some warm porridge in the pot, and after eating a little, she was choked by the smoke and her eyes were watering. Unable to bear it any longer, she found a sickle and prepared to go to the woods to cut some grass.
Stepping out of her tent, she was stunned by the sight before her; not only her tent, but the entire camp was filled with the smoke of mugwort.
What's going on at the camp?
When Yun Mo came over, he saw Lin Yinan holding a sickle and staring blankly at the camp.
After last night, she stopped trying to hide it, and from the side, her protruding belly was quite obvious.
Yun Mo's eyes softened instantly.
"Anan, are you going out?" he called softly, afraid of startling her.
Lin Yinan snapped out of her daze and saw his tender eyes staring at her stomach, which made her feel uneasy.
"Okay, I'll go cut some grass and come back."
She said it dryly, then turned and walked into the woods.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Yun Mo hurriedly said, "I suspect that someone in the camp has contracted the plague in Luo Chu City. If you don't have to, stay in the tent and don't wander around."
"Plague?" Lin Yinan paused, turned around and looked at him.
Yun Mo's eyes shone brightly. "Yun Wu and Doctor Lü have already isolated the person. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how effective the medicine is."
Lin Yinan nodded slightly. In this era of plague, apart from taking good personal protection measures, all we can do is try our best and leave the rest to fate.
She continued walking into the woods, and Yun Mo followed a few steps behind, saying, "I'll go with you."
