Upon seeing Lin Yinan asleep leaning against Lin Yiheng, Yun Mo quickly walked a few steps forward.
"What's wrong with Anan?"
Lin Yiheng didn't notice anything unusual about Lin Yinan, assuming she was just tired from using her spatial abilities, and said, "She just fell asleep."
Yun Mo put his arm around her shoulder, wrapped one arm around her legs through her knees, pulled her into his arms, and lifted her up horizontally.
"There's still room in my carriage, so she can sleep more comfortably there."
Yun Er deftly spread out the newly bought bundles of fabric, and Yun Mo carefully placed Lin Yinan on them, then took off his own outer garment and covered her with it.
Yun Er's handsome brows furrowed, and he glanced at Yun Mo as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
Yun Mo also got into the car, rested Lin Yinan's head on his lap, and looked at her pregnant belly, as if he was thinking about something.
"Just say what you have to say."
Yun Er looked ahead, coughed lightly with a slightly unnatural expression, "Master, I've noticed that the Third Madam seems to be sleeping a lot lately, and besides, she's a martial artist..."
In the past, she would know about any disturbance even before the guards noticed it.
Yun Mo understood what Yun Er meant, and quickly grabbed one of her hands and pressed it against her pulse. Her pulse was beating strongly. He used a bit of his inner strength to examine the wound on her chest, which had mostly healed.
"How is it?" Yun Er asked hurriedly.
"My internal injuries are mostly healed." Yun Mo said, somewhat bewildered.
Anan is a martial artist; given her alertness, it's impossible for her to be sleeping soundly outside like this.
The two were studying Lin Yinan, who was floating in mid-air watching them. Without them saying anything, she had already sensed that there was something wrong with this body.
She seemed to be losing control of her body more and more; in her current state, she felt more like her soul had left her body.
Just as she was about to look down, a force suddenly emanated from her body, pulling her down forcefully. Lin Yinan's vision went black, and she completely lost consciousness.
When Lin Yinan woke up again, she found herself lying in a soft carriage. She opened her eyes and looked out the window to see the bright sunshine.
She was a little confused; she had slept for quite a long time, so why hadn't the sun set yet?
The caravan was still on its way, but there was no sign of Old Mrs. Zhao and the children in the carriage.
The little thing inside her was kicking her so hard that her bladder was so full it almost made her pee.
She hurriedly got up, opened the carriage door, and met Yun Mo's gaze outside the carriage.
The one driving the carriage wasn't a bodyguard or Lin Yiheng, so why did it become Yun Mo?
He looked exhausted and haggard, as if he hadn't shaved for days, with a full stubble of black beard on his chin.
"Anan, you're awake!" His deep eyes gleamed, and his voice was incredibly hoarse.
Lin Yinan was about to burst from holding her breath. Looking at the slowly moving line, she asked, "Can we stop for a moment?"
"Are you hungry? I'll go get you something to eat right away."
Yun Mo hurriedly pulled a still-warm pancake from his pocket.
Lin Yinan didn't reach out to take it, but rolled her eyes helplessly and said in a cold voice, "I need to pee."
Yun Mo hurriedly stuffed the cake back into his arms, gave an instruction to Yun San beside him, and drove the carriage away from the group, stopping in front of a dirt slope.
With no one around, Lin Yinan jumped off the carriage, walked down to the bottom of the earthen slope, and squatted down, feeling completely refreshed, like a tap being turned on.
Yun Mo has excellent hearing. Upon hearing the noise, his whole body stiffened, and the tips of his ears turned slightly red.
Afterwards, Lin Yinan used the water from her water bag to wet her handkerchief, rinsed her mouth briefly, wiped her face, and then walked out from under the earthen slope.
Noticing the red at the tip of his ear, she said calmly, "Let's go."
Yun Mo stared intently at her, helping her back onto the carriage. In addition to the pancakes from before, he magically produced a large piece of dried meat from his pocket.
"If you're thirsty, just drink some water. It was boiled this morning."
Lin Yinan took a sip of water; it was still hot.
She glanced at the sky outside; the sun was blazing, it must have been past noon.
"What time is it?" she decided to ask Yun Mo.
Yun Mo said, "It's almost Shenshi (3-5 PM)."
Lin Yinan silently calculated in her mind that Shenshi was the time period from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Lin Yinan was taken aback; she had slept for a whole day, from yesterday afternoon to this afternoon.
She couldn't figure out what went wrong.
Aside from being a little sleepy, Lin Yinan did not feel any physical discomfort.
Chewing on a biscuit, he recalled floating in mid-air before plunging into darkness, watching his conversation with Yun Er.
Looking out through the crack in the car door, Yun Mo wondered if he was worried about him.
Yun Mo drove the carriage back to the group, and saw Yun Qi riding over on horseback.
"Master, a water source has been found ahead."
"Oh, how's the water quality?" Yun Mo asked, raising an eyebrow.
Yun Qi said, "I have carefully examined the surrounding area. The water source is a spring, and I estimate that there is an underground river flowing through this place."
These past few days, whenever there's a small puddle on the road, the refugees fight tooth and nail over it.
Are there many people vying for it now?
"When I left, guards from aristocratic families led a group to drive away the refugees, and a fight broke out between the two sides."
A cold glint flashed in Yun Mo's eyes. He said softly to Lin Yinan in the carriage, "Yinan, I'll go check up the front. If there's anything, just have Yun San do it."
Hearing their conversation, Lin Yinan said calmly, "Alright, go ahead."
Yun Mo, accompanied by Yun Qi and fifty guards, rode their horses aggressively toward the spring.
Looking into the distance, the area was surrounded by three concentric circles of refugees, with sounds of fighting and wailing filling the air.
"Murder!" someone in the crowd shouted.
The refugees scattered in panic, and the area was immediately filled with billowing dust.
Many of the refugees had dispersed, and Yun Mo rode over on horseback, where cries of pleading could still be heard from the spring.
"Sir, please have pity on us and let us get some water. The child hasn't had any water all day."
One of the guards said arrogantly, "Get out! This water belongs to our master. He hasn't even drunk any of it. When did it become your turn?"
"We only need to fill one pot, and then we'll leave."
The impoverished, ragged refugees were still pleading desperately.
Another guard kicked the refugee to the ground and pointed at the corpses on the ground, yelling, "Didn't you hear me tell you to get lost? Do you want to end up like them?"
The head guard, with a fierce and sinister look in his eyes, drew his knife without saying a word and slashed at the kneeling refugees.
The refugees who had stayed behind to watch the spectacle were so frightened by the thought that the people were about to kill again that they ran away in a panic.
Yun Mo leaped off his horse and kicked the head guard.
The head guard reacted quickly, drawing his sword to block the kick. Although he reduced the force of Yun Mo's kick by three-tenths, Yun Mo still took a heavy blow to the chest, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing this, the other guards drew their swords and rushed forward, engaging the secret guards in combat.
A quick-witted guard, sensing the danger, took advantage of the chaos to run back and fetch reinforcements.
