When Lin Yiheng finished his work and couldn't find his sister in the carriage, he heard from the guards that she was there, so he came looking for her.
He sat down on a large rock next to Lin Yinan and looked at the refugees who were queuing up to fetch water across the way.
"Will the spring run dry?" Lin Yiheng asked worriedly.
Lin Yinan snapped out of her daze and realized what he was worried about. "It's alright. There's an underground river. The water level will rise slowly as it recedes."
Considering her health, Lin Yiheng thought for a moment and said, "If it's too mentally taxing, then don't fill the tank with water."
"I know what I'm doing, don't worry. I've also stocked up on water, enough for us to drink."
"Let's go back, dinner will be ready soon."
Back at the camp, Yunying played with the children.
Lin Zhiyan pounced on her and hugged her thigh, tilting her head up, drool dripping from the corner of her mouth, smiling and revealing a few tiny teeth, her speech a little unclear.
"Mother, Mother, I miss you."
Lin Yinan took her little hand and sat down on the cart next to her. Lin Zhiyan obediently lay on her lap, her head resting on her stomach.
"younger brother."
During this time, Lin Yinan was in a coma for a long period of time and had no time to take care of Lin Zhiyan. Yunying took her back and often told her that her mother was pregnant with a little brother and that she should be a good girl.
Little Lin Zhiyan remembered it all.
Yunying looked Lin Yinan up and down. She couldn't see anything wrong with her third sister-in-law, except that she was a little sleepy.
"Third sister-in-law, you've been sleeping for so long, it scared us all. Third brother has been watching over you ever since he came back yesterday. He brought over Doctor Lü and Yun Wu to take your pulse repeatedly."
Lin Yinan raised an eyebrow; she really didn't know. "What did they say?"
Yunying shook her head. "There's nothing wrong with the pulse. They're guessing it might be because the baby in her womb is taking too much strain on her mind."
As she spoke, she looked up and around, then leaned down and whispered in Lin Yinan's ear, "I also overheard Third Brother asking Yun Wu if you would return to normal if you aborted the baby in your womb."
Lin Yinan's heart skipped a beat, and she pressed on, "What did Yun Wu say?"
"Yun Wu said it's not necessarily true, and the fetus is already big now, so it would be very dangerous for you to have an abortion."
Lin Yinan herself wondered if it was really because the fetus was taking a toll on her mental energy.
"Third sister-in-law, please don't tell Third Brother that I told you."
Yunying was very afraid of her third brother because of his gloomy face.
Lin Yinan raised his hand and pinched her cheek, which felt smooth and soft. "Don't worry, I won't tell him."
The two were then drawn to the sound of several children laughing and talking nearby. Lin Yinan turned his head and saw them twisting grass ropes. The raw material for the grass ropes was dragon's beard grass, which they had cut back when they were still in the mountains. Before weaving straw sandals, they had to twist the dragon's beard grass into grass ropes.
The twisted straw ropes are used to weave straw sandals. Since we walk a long way every day, the shoes wear out very quickly and the straw sandals break after only a short time.
Lin Yinan saw Lin Xiaomei sitting on a rock, with a rope between her knees, struggling to twist the rope together with one hand, her injured hand wrapped in a thin layer of gauze.
"Little sister, does your hand still hurt?" Lin Yinan asked her.
Lin Xiaomei turned around and smiled shyly at her, "Sister Anan, it's scabbed over and doesn't hurt anymore, it's just a little itchy."
"It's itchy because the wound is healing, so don't scratch it," Lin Yinan reminded him.
"Yeah, my sister watches me every day, so I don't dare scratch even if it itches."
"Your sister is so good to you." Lin Chunni is indeed a good sister, stopping to help with everything.
Lin Xiaomei's eyes sparkled, "Sister Anan is very good to me too!"
Lin Yinan smiled and said that Lin Xiaomei's family was very hardworking.
When they stopped to rest, Chunni's mother would go to the guards' place every day to earn some food. Chunni and her two younger brothers would help Old Lady Zhao with firewood and cooking. Lin Qingxiang would be busy setting up tents and taking care of the livestock.
Lin Yinan chatted with Yun Ying about everyday things for a short while, and without doing any physical work, she began to feel sleepy again.
After finishing her meal, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to stay awake, hoping to fill the water tank and bucket in the space with water when it was late at night.
Yun Mo didn't appear until after the meal. He was carrying a torch and a bucket of hot water.
"Anan, I've boiled some water, go and wash yourself."
Having not showered for several days, Lin Yinan kept sniffing herself in the afternoon, her face contorted with self-loathing. He noticed this and secretly made a mental note of it.
Lin Yinan's eyes lit up, all sleepiness vanished, and the indifferent expression on her face softened instantly. She nodded and went to the carriage to get her clothes.
Yunmo carried the water to the makeshift washroom and stuck the torch in the branch of a tree that had been stripped of its bark.
"I'll keep watch outside for you. Call me if anything happens."
"good."
Lin Yinan went inside, put her clothes away, and touched the water to check the temperature. It was a little too hot. Remembering that she hadn't washed her hair in a long time, she took out two plastic buckets from her spatial storage, mixed the hot water into three buckets, and then took a thorough and enjoyable hair and shower.
Yun Mo stood at a distance, feeling a little strange. He had only carried one bucket of water, but judging from the noise, it seemed that Anan had used more than one bucket.
Lin Yinan finished getting ready, dried her hair with a towel until it was half dry, and came out dressed.
Yun Mo took the empty bucket from her hand, smelled the faint fragrance on her body, and felt a surge of emotions.
He suppressed his urge, glancing at her half-dry hair. "Did you wash your hair? Was there enough water?"
"enough."
"You go back and rest first. I'll be on duty for the first half of the night."
Lin Yinan nodded slightly, "Okay."
Yun Mo hesitated, wanting A Nan to say a few more words to him.
Watching Yun Mo's departing figure, Lin Yinan went to find Lin Yiheng.
