Chapter 150 Parting Ways

"Who are you?" Looking at the newcomer, Yun Mo was full of doubt, wondering whether he was his second uncle's subordinate or a government soldier.

"This humble general is Yun Xiangdong, in charge of the Yun family's southern troops. I wonder if Madam is coming with Third Master Yun?"

At this moment, Yunye led his men forward and looked Yun Xiangdong up and down.

Yun Mo introduced Yun Xiangdong, "This is my second brother."

Yun Xiangdong's heart skipped a beat. The patriarch had previously analyzed the situation with him: Second Master Yun had survived the battlefield, but was severely injured and unable to walk. Traveling south from the north would be arduous and dangerous, and he would most likely perish along the way. However, Second Master Yun appeared perfectly normal, with not a single trace of injury on his body. There must be some hidden story, or perhaps the information the patriarch had received was incorrect.

Thinking this, Yun Xiangdong quickly realized what was happening and bowed to Yun Ye, saying, "Greetings, Second Master Yun."

Just as the three were exchanging pleasantries, a servant-like figure walked up from behind Yun Xiangdong's group and respectfully bowed to the Yun brothers.

"Greetings, gentlemen! I heard you came from Sword City. Please forgive my rudeness, but I would like to ask if you encountered our master on your journey."

Yun Mo wondered if the person who came was from the Su family. He looked at Yun Ye.

Yunye asked calmly, "Is your master named Su Kunliang?"

The servant's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly nodded in agreement, "Indeed, young master, have you seen him somewhere before?"

"What a coincidence! Master Su and his family met us in Sword City and traveled south together. They are currently in the group."

After Yunye finished speaking, he ordered his guards to invite Su Kunliang.

Before long, Su Kunliang, supported by Su Yunzhi and Su Gui, stumbled out of the group.

Seeing this, the servant's eyes welled up with tears. He bowed and rushed forward, his voice choked with emotion, "Master, this old servant has finally seen you! The old master has been sending people to search for your whereabouts in every county town, afraid of missing you. Today, my right eye kept twitching, but I gritted my teeth and went to an extra county town. Thank God, Master has arrived safely!"

The servant wiped away his tears with his sleeve and asked, "By the way, where are the Madam, Miss, and Young Master?"

Seeing her father's agitation, Su Yunzhi quickly said, "My mother and the others are behind us."

The master and servants exchanged pleasantries for a while, while the Yun brothers continued talking with Yun Xiangdong.

A short while later, Su Kunliang and his servants arrived before the Yun brothers.

Since Lin Yinan and Yun Mo wrote their marriage certificate, Su Kunliang has rarely appeared in front of the Yun family. He still harbors resentment towards Yun Mo. If it weren't for him, A'nan wouldn't have broken off her engagement with Yun Zhi, and Yun Zhi wouldn't have become so depressed.

Regardless, Su Kunliang was still very grateful to the Yun family. Without the Yun family, his family would not have been able to reach the South intact.

Su Kunliang and his son bowed to the Yun brothers. "I am very grateful for the care the Yun family has given us along the way. My father has arranged for servants to take us to Cangwu County. Cangwu County is not the same as the Southern Land, so we will have to go our separate ways for the rest of the journey. I will remember the Yun family's kindness. If the Yun family ever needs anything in the future, I will do my utmost to help them. Farewell!"

"Take care on your journey, Master Su!" Yunye and his brother returned the greeting hastily.

The servants who had come with them hurried off to the Su family's residence, some driving the carriages, others carrying goods.

Taking the opportunity, Su Yunzhi went to Lin Yinan's carriage to say goodbye to Lin Yiheng. Lin Yuanzhi, Lin Tiezhuang, and Lin Zhaohui also came, and the group bid each other a reluctant farewell.

"Cangwu County and the Southern Lands are on different paths, so we must part ways soon. Brother Lin, farewell!"

"Take care, Yunzhi!"

Lin Yiheng patted his shoulder and said casually, "We can meet again after things settle down. It's only a two-day journey between Nandi and Cangwu County."

“Yes! We must get together again in the future!” Lin Yuanzhi nodded in agreement.

Having said what she needed to say, Su Yunzhi looked up at the closed carriage door, cupped her hands, and said loudly, "Anan, I'm leaving!"

"Take care on your journey!" Lin Yinan's cool voice rang out.

Su Yunzhi left with regret, feeling somewhat reluctant to part, but mostly filled with sorrow.

The little girl he watched grow up eventually became someone else's wife.

Their relationship ultimately came to an end.

Su Kunliang looked at the Taoist priest lying lazily on the cart, basking in the sun, and said helplessly, "Old Taoist, are you really not coming to Cangwu County with me?"

Master Dao waved his hand at him with his eyes closed, "I'm not going! I'm not going! All good things must come to an end. I'm old and don't have many years left to live. Now I just want to live a more relaxed life. Teaching and educating people is too exhausting."

"Come visit me when you have time," Su Kunliang said.

Master Dao: "Definitely."

Knowing that the Su family was leaving for Cangwu County, Yu Qiutao's face twisted in anger, her hands gripping the hem of her clothes tightly, filled with resentment.

She found Zhu Jinhui, who was overjoyed, and knelt before her, weeping bitterly, saying, "Aunt Zhu, please take me away. I can't stay in Linjia Village any longer."

Zhu Jinhui was startled by the sudden scene. She clutched her chest, her face showing undisguised disgust.

"Hey! What are you doing? I don't know anyone as malicious as you."

Upon hearing this, Yu Qiutao was furious. Zhu Jinhui actually compared her to a lowly servant. Anger surged in her chest, and she stared at Zhu Jinhui's departing figure with bloodshot eyes.

If she hadn't followed Su Yunru's instructions, she wouldn't have ended up like this.

Su Yunru is just as vicious as her, and now she's the only one being punished, simply because she doesn't have a strong backing to protect her.

As the Su family members walked away, the village women whispered and pointed at her, and Yu Qiutao clenched her fists.

She vowed that she would never let anyone who had bullied her get away with it!

Shortly after the Su family left, the group, led by Yun Xiangdong, headed in the opposite direction from the Su family, towards their final destination—Nanzhou Prefecture.

The southern region has plenty of sunshine and water, making it the perfect season for planting.

Sitting in the carriage, Lin Yinan looked out the window and saw many farmers busy with spring plowing in the fields.

Not only the knife, but even the people from Linjia Village in the team were all excited, wishing they could immediately roll up their trousers and get to work in the fields.

"Brother, do you know when we'll arrive in Nanzhou Prefecture?"

"We should arrive by tomorrow afternoon at the earliest." It was Yun Mo's voice. He was driving the carriage ahead, and Lin Yinan didn't know when he had replaced Lin Yiheng.

Lin Yinan then asked, "Who is leading the way for us?"

Yun Mo slowly raised the riding whip in his hand, "He is a subordinate of my second uncle."

Which aristocratic family in this era didn't keep a retinue of retainers? Lin Yinan then asked, "How many retainers did your second uncle keep?"

Yun Mo: "About two thousand people."

Lin Yinan clicked her tongue in amazement, "So many?"

Fearing she wouldn't understand, Yun Mo patiently explained, "He is the governor of Nanzhou Prefecture and also the retreat route arranged by the Yun family in the south. All the rewards my grandfather and father received each year, as well as the spoils of war, are here."
