Chapter 156 The Prefect's Daughter

As soon as Lin Yinan and his group got out of the car, they attracted a lot of attention. This was the largest restaurant in Nanzhou Prefecture. No aristocratic families would come out to eat together; they usually had their servants buy the food and take it home.

"Who are they? They're so tacky!" the woman in fancy clothes complained.

Looking at the poorly dressed members of the Yun family's main branch, Yun Hua couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"This is the family of my aunt in Beijing that I told you about."

Yunhua pulled the woman forward, "Auntie, are you dining here too?"

"Hmm." Yunmu turned around with a faint expression.

Yunhua didn't notice and still wore a polite smile, "What a coincidence, we are too, why don't we go together!"

Yunmu glanced at the woman beside her, who was dressed as an unmarried woman, and quickly declined, "No, I have many children at home, and I'm afraid I'll disturb your refined taste."

"It's alright, more people makes it more lively," Fan Yuejia said softly.

Her father had previously told her that he would arrange a marriage between her and the third son of the eldest branch of the Yun family in Shangjing, so she could take this opportunity to learn more about him.

The Yun family members all turned their attention to her. With so many people watching, Fan Yuejia wondered if she had been too rash.

Yunhua stepped in to help her out, saying, "Auntie, let's go inside."

"Please come in, gentlemen. Do you have a reservation?" As we entered the restaurant, the waiter came out to greet us.

Yunye: "We booked a private room in the highest tier this morning."

The waiter greeted him warmly, "So you are Young Master Yun. Please come up to the third floor."

Yunhua secretly glanced at Yunye walking ahead, surprised that they had actually booked a private room.

Upon reaching the third floor, the eldest sister-in-law asked the waiter to set up another small table and place a screen in the middle.

She said to Yunhua and the other person with a half-smile, "The children at home are really noisy. Hua'er, why don't you and this young lady sit at this table? It's quieter here."

Yunhua looked at the extra table next to the main table and was about to suggest that she and Fan Yuejia sit there when six guards pushed open the door and sat down at another table. Yunhua's face immediately showed some displeasure.

Seeing that Yunhua didn't speak, Fan Yuejia agreed, "Okay, Yunhua and I will sit here."

After saying that, she walked up to Yunmu and greeted her, "Auntie, I am Fan Yuejia, daughter of Magistrate Fan Xueli. I apologize for my rudeness to you today."

As she spoke, Fan Yuejia's eyes darted around restlessly, quickly locking onto Yun Mo, who was helping Lin Yinan sit down.

Lin Yinan frowned and glanced at Yun Mo, who seemed oblivious. Are all girls in the South so unrestrained?

“It’s just a meal, Miss Fan, you don’t need to worry about it,” Yunmu said.

Fan Yuejia's face flushed slightly. She bowed and hurriedly returned to the small table behind the screen to sit down.

"I didn't lie to you, did I? That handsome guy is Yun Mo," Yun Hua whispered in Fan Yuejia's ear.

Fan Yuejia's ears turned red. She lowered her head, her gaze intentionally or unintentionally glancing at Yun Mo through the hazy screen.

Not long after everyone sat down, the restaurant began to serve the dishes. The menu was ordered by Yunye and his group when they made the reservation in the morning. They ordered all of the restaurant's signature dishes, and each dish was very generous in portion.

Since Yunhua and her companion had an extra table added at the last minute, they ordered their food on the spot. After they finished ordering, Yunmo went out and slipped a few pieces of silver to the waiter, instructing him to bring the food in half an hour.

So, Yunhua and Fan Yuejia could only watch the Yun family eat through the screen, drawn by the aroma of the food.

Because they still wanted to go shopping, Yun's mother led the Yun family members, who had already finished eating, away while Yunhua and the others were waiting for their meals.

"Yunhua, please take good care of Miss Fan. We'll be going now."

Fan Yuejia was somewhat embarrassed, while Yunhua's face turned green with anger.

After leaving the restaurant, Yunyan asked her mother in a low voice, "Mother, is what we're doing not quite right?"

"This was supposed to be a family meal, but the two of them insisted on joining us," Yunmu said dismissively.

The street was bustling with people, and the children were quickly drawn to the hawkers' cries.

It was Lin Yinan's first time strolling through the streets of ancient times. She looked around curiously, while Yun Mo stood guard beside her, afraid that some careless passersby might bump into her.

Yun Mo noticed that she didn't eat much at the restaurant. When she passed by a pastry shop, she bought some Poria cocos cakes, dragon beard candy, and peach blossom pastries, carrying several bags in her hands.

"I noticed you didn't eat much earlier. Take these back and have something to eat if you get hungry." He said tenderly, stuffing the bag into Lin Yinan's hands.

The children looked at him longingly, "Third Uncle, Third Uncle, I want to eat too."

Lin Yinan took the snacks from him and distributed them to the children, leaving only an empty paper package.

Helpless, Yun Mo went to the pastry shop again and bought three servings of every kind of pastry in the shop.

Along the way, he would buy Lin Yinan anything delicious he saw.

"Master, there's a tail following behind us. Should we deal with it?" Yun Si walked up to Yun Mo and whispered.

A cold glint flashed in Yun Mo's eyes. "Ignore it."

The Yun family turned into a relatively secluded street, which mainly sold everyday items such as pottery bowls, earthenware jars, furniture, and bamboo crafts.

At the very back was a fairly large fabric shop. In the center of the shop hung several pieces of clothing with local characteristics. Yunyan and her sister-in-law took one look as they passed by and immediately fell in love with them.

Yunying pulled Lin Yinan into the shop. Several children sat in a row at the shop entrance eating snacks, while Yunye, Yunming, and several guards watched.

Mica has already started chatting with the female shopkeeper.

The clothes that Yunyan and her sister-in-law liked were simple in style and very suitable for working.

"Shopkeeper, how much are these clothes?" Yunyan took a liking to two sets.

The female shopkeeper smiled and said, "I usually sell them for 500 coins a set, but if you want them, young lady, take them for 480 coins."

Lin Yinan looked around carefully. The prices of coarse cloth and cotton cloth here were 65 and 110 wen respectively, which were cheaper than in northern cities. The cloth she had stocked up on last time was almost used up, so she thought she might as well stock up on some more here.
