The guard fired a signal flare, jumped down from the hidden tree, and bowed to Lin Yinan and the other person on horseback, saying, "Third Madam."
"Second Brother Yun, what brings you here?"
"Let's go back and talk about it." After saying that, Yun Er spurred his horse and headed towards the salt field camp.
Having received the news, Liu Ji and his men waited outside the gate of the saltworks.
"Sister Anan!"
Upon seeing the newcomer, Liu Ji, whose skin was tanned dark, grinned, revealing his white teeth. He looked excited and his smile was a little silly.
By the bright firelight, Lin Yinan glanced at him. The boy had grown quite a bit taller and was already showing signs of manhood.
"It's been a long time, Aji has grown taller again." She smiled.
Liu Ji scratched his head sheepishly, "Sister Anan, come in and sit down."
After dismounting, Lin Yinan, who hadn't ridden a horse in a long time, felt her legs go weak. Liu Ji was about to reach out to help her when Qian Wu pushed her away.
"Madam, are you alright?"
Liu Ji was stunned by the push and stood there dumbfounded.
"My legs are a little numb, but they'll be fine after a while," Lin Yinan said.
Qianwu helped Lin Yinan into the saltworks' office. Before turning around, her gaze swept towards Liu Ji, intentionally or unintentionally.
She felt somewhat unfamiliar with him after not seeing him for almost half a year.
I'd like to fight him now; I wonder if his skills have improved.
Time was of the essence. As soon as he sat down, Lin Yinan said, "Aji, go and tell everyone to pack their things and return to Longtan."
"Sister Anan, what happened?"
"A hurricane is coming soon. You should retreat to Longtan to take shelter and come back after the hurricane has passed."
Liu Ji raised an eyebrow, thinking it was something else, but it turned out to be this.
He said dismissively, "We get windy every few days here, it's fine, our houses are very sturdy."
“This time it’s different from the past; it’s much more powerful, otherwise I wouldn’t have come in person.”
Liu Ji said, "We don't have much to pack up here, but what about the salt stored in the warehouse?"
"Pack your things and leave immediately. I'll take care of the warehouse."
"Okay, I'll give the order right away."
Liu Ji then led his bodyguards out of the office.
Moments later, the entire silent salt field suddenly came alive with activity.
People held torches, some pulling carts, others loading things onto oxcarts and mule carts.
Besides the salt-making workers, most of the guards stationed at the salt fields were secret agents who worked methodically and extremely quickly.
The young men stood in neat rows on the open ground, giving Lin Yinan the feeling of a leader personally inspecting and guiding the work.
Liu Ji suddenly appeared out of nowhere, carrying large and small bags of things.
"Sister Anan, we've finished packing up here."
Lin Yinan looked at Yun Er, who in turn looked at a bodyguard standing beside him.
"Reporting to the city lord, we are also ready on our side," Yunxi said in a loud and powerful voice.
"Alright, let's go!"
The group started moving, winding its way up the path behind the mountain.
Liu Ji looked reluctantly at the place where the boats were moored. "Sister Anan, what should we do with these three boats?"
"You go ahead, I'll handle it." Lin Yinan smiled at him.
Qianwu mischievously stuck out her tongue.
After they all left, Lin Yinan said to the three people beside her, "You guys go and rest for a bit. We'll set off for Xihe County in an hour."
"Madam, what about you?"
Chika wanted to follow, but she stopped her, saying, "I'll go check out the boat."
“Third Madam, your injuries haven’t healed yet, I’ll go with you.” Yun Er was worried.
Lin Yinan rubbed her temples, somewhat regretting bringing them along.
"No need, I'll be right back."
After saying that, he used his lightness skill, lightly touched the ground with his toes, and quickly flew towards the direction where the boat was moored on the shore.
The three large, modified ships were a vital asset to their Longtan, and she couldn't bear to part with them.
Lin Yinan quickly untied the ropes, calculated the volume of the boat in his mind, then placed his hand on the hull, and as if by magic, the three boats disappeared into thin air.
A salty sea breeze swept over us, but it didn't take away much of the sweltering heat.
Lin Yinan went to the salt field again and looked at the piles of sea salt that had already separated but had not yet been bagged. She found a corner in her space to store them.
These are salts produced through the previous processes, and they shouldn't be wasted.
Finally, Lin Yinan walked around the entire salt field camp again, not even missing a small stool.
As dawn broke and the first rays of sunlight touched the sea, the waves leaped in the morning light, like countless silver sprites dancing.
Lin Yinan stood on a large rock, quietly admiring the scene, which resembled a beautiful scroll slowly unfolding before her.
"Are you done with your work?"
Yun Er's clear voice rang out from behind him.
Lin Yinan slowly withdrew her gaze and looked at that roguishly handsome face. No wonder Yun Ying was so infatuated with him.
"Did you sleep well?" she asked instead of answering.
Yun Er shrugged, glanced at Qian Xia and Qian Wu who were walking behind him, and said with a smile, "The horses have been fed, and everything is ready."
"Then let's set off." Lin Yinan lightly jumped off the boulder.
"Madam, why don't you go and rest?" Qianxia asked worriedly, as her injuries hadn't healed and she hadn't slept all night.
"It's hotter today than yesterday, and the hurricane is getting closer and closer. There's no time to lose, let's set off."
The four men rode their horses in the opposite direction from Liu Ji and his companions toward the West River.
When they arrived, the secret guards sent by Yunye to deliver the message had already arrived, and Yunmo was directing people to move things.
When he saw Lin Yinan leading his men on horseback, his smile was undisguised, his grin stretching almost to the back of his ears, his happiness overflowing.
