Chapter 321 Hurricane

When Yun Mo returned, Lin Yinan was asleep in her chair, her breathing even.

He placed the food on the table, gently rolled up her sleeve, and helped her change her dressing.

The gauze was stuck to the wound, and Yun Mo gently pulled it off. After running around all night, the wound, which hadn't fully healed, started to bleed.

While disinfecting the wound, the intense pain made Lin Yinan, who was asleep, frown and then open her bloodshot eyes.

"Does it hurt a lot?" Seeing that she was awake, Yun Mo's movements became even gentler.

Lin Yinan glanced at the wound and said calmly, "It doesn't hurt."

Yun Mo pointed to the food on the table, "Have something to fill your stomach first."

Lin Yinan picked up the bowl and ate heartily. The meal was simple: rice with vegetables and stewed meat.

The food for Yunmo and the soldiers stationed here is prepared separately. They eat dry rice three times a day and meat once every two days.

By the time Lin Yinan finished eating, her wound had been bandaged.

Is there anything I can help you with?

After pondering for a moment, Yun Mo said, "Just take the pig iron from the warehouse, and I won't need to arrange for someone to deliver it back later."

"Okay, take me there."

"Don't you want to rest for a bit?" Yun Mo didn't want her to work too hard.

"I won't feel at ease until the job is done."

With Yun Mo leading the way, the two headed straight for the warehouse at the back of the camp.

As they passed by the smelting furnace, a Japanese pirate with iron chains on his feet stopped what he was doing and stared at Lin Yinan with a lewd look.

"Crack!" The soldier's whip struck the man, cursing, "What are you looking at? Look again and I'll gouge your eyes out."

Instead of getting angry, the Japanese pirate laughed and said, "That young lady is really beautiful."

The guard next to him stepped forward and kicked him to the ground. "How dare you look at our city lord with your filthy eyes? I think you don't want to live anymore."

Ignoring the punches and kicks raining down on him, the Japanese pirates never took their eyes off Lin Yinan.

Hearing the commotion, Lin Yinan's sharp eyes swept over the Japanese pirate.

"This man is the leader of those Japanese, he's usually very arrogant and difficult to manage," Yun Mo explained upon seeing this.

"Beware of them using the hurricane to cause trouble."

"Don't worry, everything is under our control."

Lin Yinan didn't say anything more after hearing this, after all, he and those guards had all survived the bloody battle.

When they came out of the warehouse, Lin Yinan keenly noticed that the atmosphere in the camp had changed.

Even Yun Mo noticed it, and he beckoned to the guards beside him, saying, "Have Steward Ma come here."

Steward Ma looked nervously at the handsome woman beside Yun Mo, who had a calm expression. He knew that she was the city lord that everyone was talking about.

After inviting him to sit down, Yun Mo went straight to the point and asked, "What happened outside?"

Manager Ma lowered his head and murmured, "Those Japanese are saying that divine punishment is coming down. The Dragon King has sent a hurricane to punish those of us who have committed too many killings. Most of the prisoners have been turned against us."

"It seems we fed them too much. Send down the order that the food given to the Japanese at noon be used to feed the pigs. If any of the other prisoners have objections, they should not eat it either."

Seeing his anger, Steward Ma nodded repeatedly in agreement.

"It seems they want to use this opportunity to escape," Lin Yinan also realized.

Yun Mo sneered, "It seems the fish I've caught is about to take the bait. Manager Ma, keep a close eye on your men. Anan, come with me to take a look."

"Your subordinate obeys," Steward Ma replied respectfully.

The three arrived at the empty square, where the Yu family prisoners were preparing to distribute food to the Japanese.

Steward Ma hurriedly stepped forward to stop them, "Third Master Yun has ordered that the Japanese are not allowed to eat today. Take them away."

The prisoners dared not say anything more, and hurriedly covered the wooden bucket containing the rice, cleaned up the bowls, and carried the food away with their companions.

The prisoners were numerous, and they huddled together in twos and threes, whispering among themselves.

"Why did you take away the Japanese people's food?"

"Bah! Spreading rumors and misleading the public, it's no wonder they're not being fed." One of the prisoner leaders disliked the arrogant Japanese.

"Boss, is what they said true? It sounds kind of scary."

"Never mind whether it's true or not, let's just do our work and eat our meals. Don't cause trouble, or you'll get yourself into trouble."

However, not everyone in the prisoner-of-war camp was so clear-headed.

"Boss, look over there, they're trying to go on a hunger strike with the prisoners."

"They're hopelessly stupid."

The prisoner leader rolled his eyes helplessly and told his men not to meddle in other people's business.

Lin Yinan and Yun Mo stood in the corner, watching everything that was happening below.

When will the furnace be sealed?

Yun Mo said, "The mining area has been shut down. This furnace was only lit yesterday, and it will take at least three days before it can be sealed."

"Reinforce all the roofs as soon as possible in the next two days, especially the walls, and check them carefully." She had a premonition that these people were not safe and that a riot was likely to break out.

"Deploy more secret guards."

Yun Mo took her hand. On this hot day, their palms were sticky with sweat. Lin Yinan tried to pull her hand away in disgust, but he held it tightly.

"Don't worry, they can't cause any real trouble."

I hope so.

Xihe County is near the sea, and as the hurricane gets closer, everyone can see various beautiful colorful clouds in the sky these days.

The sky was clear and blue, the wind was calm and the waves were still. Even the usually noisy tits and seabirds were nowhere to be seen.

However, all of this is merely the prelude to the storm.

Lin Yinan spends her days either researching information or going to the beach to observe and record the wind and waves.

According to data, the huge waves generated by a hurricane will arrive one or two days in advance of the typhoon. The direction from which the waves come in is the direction from which the hurricane is likely to make landfall.
