About half an hour later, they stopped in a bamboo grove.
Lin Yinan stared at the bamboo shoots of varying lengths sprouting from the dense bamboo forest, as if she had discovered a tremendous treasure. She stood there dumbfounded, her eyes filled with ecstatic joy.
She couldn't remember how long it had been since she had seen this thing; her ancestors had seen it when they were children living in the countryside.
She already had countless ways to cook bamboo shoots in her mind: braised bamboo shoots with pig's trotters, stir-fried bamboo shoots with cured pork, braised bamboo shoots in oil...
"Madam, why are you not going anymore?" Qianwu loves adventure, especially in the wild, and gets excited as soon as she comes out.
Qianxia saw Lin Yinan staring blankly at the bamboo forest and asked, "Miss, what's in the forest?"
She always preferred to call her "Miss" instead of "Madam" when they were alone in private.
"Do you see that? So many bamboo shoots!"
Bamboo shoots? Are they edible?
Chika grew up in the north and had seen bamboo, but had never eaten bamboo shoots.
Qianwu frowned, looking incredulously around a bamboo shoot, occasionally poking its hard outer shell.
How do we eat this?
"It's edible, and it tastes very good."
As Lin Yinan spoke, he drew his sword from his waist, cut off the bamboo shoot closest to his feet, peeled off the outer shell, and revealed the yellow-green-white bamboo shoot flesh.
To everyone's surprise, Qianwu went up and took a bite.
"Ptooey! Ptooey! It's so bitter."
Before Lin Yinan could stop her, she had already vomited, "Madam is lying, it's bitter and doesn't taste good at all."
Amused by her recklessness, Lin Yinan looked at the bamboo shoot with a bite taken out of it and said, "This bamboo shoot can't be eaten raw; it has to be cooked."
"Then let's cut more and cook them."
After Qianwu finished speaking, she drew her sword in a flash and, mimicking Lin Yinan's earlier actions, slashed at the bamboo shoot.
