“Mother, the one who just went in is the city lord of Longtan County, Sister Anan, whom I told you about before.”
The crowd gasped in astonishment; they had all heard that the lord of Longtan County was incredibly powerful.
At that moment, the Chika sisters arrived gracefully, carrying bundles.
"Excuse me, ma'am, where is the kitchen? I'd like to heat something for my wife." Qianxia bowed to Shan Que Niang.
The mountain sparrow girl was so frightened that she took a few steps back. After regaining her composure, she smiled apologetically and said, "The kitchen is over there, please come with me, young lady."
After tying up the horses, two guards stood watch at the door, and Qianwu and Yun Shiyi followed one after the other inside.
As soon as Lin Yinan entered the room, she smelled the scent of herbs. An oil lamp was lit in the dimly lit room. Lin Shuo lay on the bed with a bandage wrapped around his head, and heavy breathing could be heard from time to time.
There was a person curled up beside the bed. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Yun Ming.
Yunming sat on a low stool, his head and upper body slumped over the edge of the bed, looking as if he were asleep.
Lin Yinan stepped forward and nudged him, "Yun Ming!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Yun Ming raised his head blankly, and when he saw that it was her, his pupils suddenly contracted.
"Third Sister-in-law, you're here! Am I dreaming?"
"Third Sister-in-law, Uncle Lin is injured! Please come and save him!" Yun Ming pleaded.
Lin Yinan pushed him aside and looked down to check on Lin Shuo's condition, having no time to pay attention to him.
Before Yunming could ask any more questions, two more people entered through the door.
"Eleventh Brother, Qianwu, you've come too."
He wasn't dreaming; it really was his third sister-in-law and the others.
"Qianxia, it's too stuffy in here. Open the window and light another oil lamp," Lin Yinan instructed promptly.
She just took Lin Shuo's temperature with a thermometer, and it was nearly 39 degrees Celsius.
I took a fever reducer from my space, pried open his mouth and put it in, then grabbed some water from the table and fed him some. Fortunately, Lin Shuo still had the ability to swallow, and he quickly swallowed the medicine and water.
After giving him fever-reducing medication, the priority is to prevent his temperature from rising further.
Glancing at the distraught Yun Ming, Lin Yinan asked, "Yun Ming, besides the injury to his forehead, where else is my second uncle injured?"
"It's on his stomach. When Uncle Lin fell, he was scratched by a branch on the ground," Yun Ming said somewhat sadly.
Lin Yinan lifted the blanket and saw that Lin Shuo's clothes were off, and his stomach was wrapped in gauze with some greenish medicine seeping out.
Upon removing the gauze, a layer of herbs was visible covering the wound, and the skin around the wound was swollen and lumpy, indicating that the wound was infected.
She carefully scraped away the layer of herbs, revealing a finger-length wound with the skin turned inside out.
"Miss, the hot water is here." Qianxia brought in a basin of hot water.
"Okay, bring it over."
Lin Yinan quickly got up to wash her hands, scrubbing them repeatedly. She then asked Qianwu to open the small bundle containing her medicine from her bag.
Seeing Yun Ming still standing there dumbfounded by the bed, Lin Yinan said, "Yun Ming, go to the side first, I'll re-bandage your second uncle's wound."
Yunming obediently stepped aside.
While searching for medicine, Lin Yinan used her body to block everyone's view and took out a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and saline solution from her spatial storage.
She sat down on the edge of the bed and began to slowly clean Lin Shuo's wounds.
The wound looked frightening, but fortunately it didn't damage any internal organs, though it did cause a minor infection.
Having missed the optimal time for suturing, Lin Yinan cleaned the wound, sprinkled some antiseptic and tissue-regenerating medicine on it, applied Yunnan Baiyao, and finally re-bandaged the wound.
She also disassembled the head wound, cleaned and disinfected it again, and then bandaged it.
After treating the two wounds, she noticed that Lin Shuo's temperature seemed to have dropped a bit.
Upon closer inspection, it was indeed found that the temperature had dropped to 38.5 degrees Celsius.
Then Lin Yinan rummaged through her bag and found some anti-inflammatory medicine, which she then forced down Lin Shuo's throat.
What needed to be done has been done; now all we can do is wait quietly for him to come to his senses.
After she finished dealing with it, Qianxia and Qianwu consciously stepped forward to tidy up.
Lin Yinan looked at Yun Ming, who was sitting pale and haggard by the table, poured him a glass of water and handed it to him.
"Tell me what happened?"
Yunming mechanically took the water, holding the cup in his hand. After a long while, he slowly began to speak.
“It was raining heavily that day. The cowshed collapsed, and the cows were frightened and ran away. We all went out to look for them. I found one in a grove of trees, but no matter how I pulled it, it wouldn’t budge. Uncle Lin ran towards me and shouted at me, but unfortunately, the rain was too heavy and I didn’t hear him. I was also struggling with that stubborn cow.”
"Uncle Lin ran over quickly and pushed me aside. Only then did I realize that the tree behind me was about to fall, and Lin Shuo was telling me to leave quickly."
"He pushed me away, saving my life, but he was hit on the head by a falling tree. When he fell, the branches on the ground tore his stomach open."
As Yunming spoke, his eyes reddened and tears streamed down his face. "It's all my fault! If I hadn't argued with that ox, Uncle Lin wouldn't have gotten hurt!"
He raised his hand and wiped away his tears. These days, whenever he thinks of that day, he feels extremely regretful.
Lin Yinan comforted him, "You don't need to blame yourself or be sad. Torturing yourself by not eating or drinking goes against your second uncle's original intention in saving you. You need to cheer up, eat properly, and finish what your second uncle didn't finish. Only then can you be worthy of him."
"You're all not blaming me?" Yun Ming asked, sounding like a child who had done something wrong.
"You did nothing wrong, so why should I blame you?"
"When I left, I promised Ah Song that I would take good care of Uncle Lin, but I failed to do so."
“I don’t believe he’ll blame you.” Lin Yinan said, covering her nose in disgust. “Go wash up and change into clean clothes, you’re completely stale.”
