Upon seeing her return, the guards automatically opened the door for her.
The lead guard often followed Yu Shida, and Yu Xunmei recognized him. "What happened at home?"
The guard lowered his head and bowed respectfully to her.
"I am here on the orders of the general, and I am not allowed to enter or leave. I know nothing about what is happening at home."
Yu Xunmei did not make things difficult for him and turned to go inside.
The housekeeper, who heard the commotion, came out and his eyes lit up when he saw Yu Xunmei.
He strode forward, a fawning smile plastered on his face.
"Oh my! Young lady, you're finally back!"
Yu Xunmei raised an eyebrow and asked with a smirk, "What's the matter that you're in such a hurry?"
The butler glanced back and whispered, "Something terrible has happened!"
Yu Xunmei paused, her gaze lingering on the butler's obsequious face.
The butler stepped forward and whispered in her ear, explaining the whole story to her.
"Oh? I didn't expect her to be so bold!"
"That's right. The incident was witnessed by a woman in the clan, and now the head of the family, the old lady, and many elders are interrogating the maidservant beside the lady in the living room."
Yu Xunmei's lips curled into an ambiguous smile. "It's so lively, I'd like to go and take a look."
Passing through the screen wall, Yu Xunmei saw a mangled, bloody body lying in the courtyard outside the living room.
The clothes she was wearing were soaked in blood, and their original color was no longer visible. Only the fact that she was dressed as a maid could be vaguely discerned.
Even in such a state of injury, she was still unconsciously murmuring, "What I said is the truth, Madam, you have been wronged!"
