Chapter 39 Reunion

Aunt Li, with her sharp eyes, was holding her only son tightly when she looked up and saw Lin Yinan and his group coming from the forest.

"Oh no! Where are Lin Shuo and the others?!"

She had a loud voice, and as soon as she spoke, the whole village heard her and looked in the direction of Lin Yinan and the others.

Lin Changsheng immediately spotted Lin Yi'an and Lu Changqing sitting on their tall horses. He struggled to break free from Aunt Li's embrace and ran towards them.

"Lin Yi'an, Lu Changqing, why are you only arriving now? I thought you were dead!"

Lin Yinan stopped the horse, a smile playing on his lips, and put the two children down. They were reunited with the people of Linjia Village.

"You're the one who's dead," Lin Yi'an said with a stern face.

Lin Changsheng hugged the two of them tightly, saying, "I thought I would never see you again."

Lin Yi'an patted his back, "We're doing just fine, aren't we?"

Lin Changsheng released the two of them, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Lin Yinan's mount.

"Why do you have two more horses?"

"We stole it from the Hu people, and we even ate horse meat."

Lin Yi'an tilted his head back, extremely proud, thinking that no one was as capable as his older sister.

Lin Shuo and Yun Mo discussed that since it was already noon, they might as well rest there for a while before leaving.

Aunt Li came over and listened to the two children's conversation. Her eyes were glued to the burlap sacks hanging on the horses, filled with envy.

"Auntie, is all this grain?"

Grandma Zhao slapped away the hand that was being offered to her.

“Where did we get so much grain? These two bags are chestnuts we picked in the forest.”

Aunt Li's eyes lit up. "Oh, is there more? Is it far from here?"

“We’ve been walking all day, do you think it’s far or not?” Old Mrs. Zhao rolled her eyes at her.

"Can I trade you some wild vegetables? I've been eating wild vegetable porridge every day, and I want to give Changsheng some nourishing food."

"Okay, but you have to do it quietly, since my family has more than a dozen people in it."

After discussing it, the two of them quietly asked about what had happened after they got separated.

Aunt Li slapped her thigh hard and said regretfully, "Don't even mention it, I should have gone with your family."

Hearing that the Hu people were coming, everyone was terrified and fled into the deep mountains with other refugees. They lost many of their belongings, and some were stolen by the fleeing refugees.

Most of the villagers in Linjia Village lost a lot of food and supplies, and several families went missing, their fate still unknown.

Having barely escaped robbery by refugees, they were attacked by a pack of wolves in the middle of the night a couple of days ago, and two villagers were killed and dragged away by the wolves.

Just when everyone thought the wolves had left, they came back late last night. Fortunately, the men in the village united and drove the wolves away.

However, several men were injured, and even Lin Zhaohui was scratched by wolves.

As Lin Yinan listened, it seemed even worse than dealing with the Hu people.

Lin Shuo and Lin Yiheng went to discuss matters with the village chief and clan leader.

The task of feeding the four horses and one cow was taken over by the Lin brothers.

Grandma Zhao secretly exchanged some chestnuts for Aunt Li's, then took her two daughters-in-law to cook. The younger children had already started playing with the other children in the village.

Only Lin Yinan, having nothing better to do, went to the place where Aunt Li had mentioned finding the wolf pack, but found nothing there.

When I returned, I saw Liu Yu struggling with a woman.

"Let go, these are my things, you can't take them."

Liu Yu tightly clutched the items to her chest.

"You little slut, what do you mean 'your'? This is my house, and you shameless thing stole it," Yu Suqin said in a low voice.

Eight-year-old Liu Yu was no match for Yu Suqin.

Yu Suqin suddenly exerted force, and Liu Yu was violently pulled to the ground.

Liu Yu cried and said, "Waaah, don't take my things."

Lin Yinan couldn't stand it any longer and stepped forward to pull the bag back from Yu Suqin's hand.

When Yu Suqin saw someone daring to snatch her things, she was about to shout, but when she saw that the person in front of her was Lin Yinan, she swallowed her words.

“Shout, why don’t you shout?” Lin Yinan said coldly.

“She’s not from our village, so don’t meddle in other people’s business,” Yu Suqin said stubbornly.

That bag was full of grain! If they were careful with their food, it could last them a long time.

If someone else took something from her, what's wrong with her taking something from someone else in return?

Lin Yinan said, "Those two siblings are people I want to protect."

Yu Suqin didn't want to provoke this ruthless girl, so she hesitated for a moment.

"Since he's your person, then forget it."

She turned her head and left.

"Thank you, Sister Anan."

"Next time you go camping, stay close to our house so that my grandma and the others can help you if anything happens," Lin Yinan said.

Back at the camp, lunch wasn't ready yet, so she simply spread out an oilcloth and lay down on the ground to rest.

Lin Shuo and the others returned from their meeting shortly after taking a nap.

The village chief and clan chief agreed to continue their journey after the meal. At the same time, they also realized that in the event of unrest, the first thing to do is to unite, rather than go their separate ways.

Just like this time, they ran around and lost a lot of supplies, and they were even helpless against a few vagrants who tried to rob them.

Several villagers also came with them, and when they learned that Lin Yinan and his group had brought two bags of chestnuts, they all expressed their desire to exchange some for them.

But they were all chased away by the formidable Old Lady Zhao.

They think they can just pick a couple of wild vegetables and weeds and exchange them for her family's grain? They're dreaming.

Lin Yiheng frowned as he looked at it, planning to have his sister secretly store some grain in her spatial storage that evening, as it would be too conspicuous to leave it on the horse's back.

With the arrival of Lin Yinan and the Yun family, the village chief and villagers felt more at ease. Dalian Jiao shook off the previous gloomy atmosphere, packed their luggage, and set off again.

However, not long after they left, a large pack of wolves, led by their alpha, emerged from the depths of the forest and sniffed around the places where Lin Yinan and his companions had lingered.

Following the predetermined route, led by Yunmo, everyone pressed on with great enthusiasm until nightfall before stopping to rest.

As usual, personnel were arranged to be on duty at night, and people from the Yun and Su families were also included in the night watch team.

Midnight.

Lin Yinan was trapped in a deep nightmare, chased by zombies into a dead end with nowhere to hide.

So she climbed up the drainpipe on the wall, when suddenly her ankle was grabbed by a zombie that had lost consciousness, and she fell off the pipe and was swallowed by the endless horde of zombies.

Lin Yinan suddenly woke up with a start, her heart pounding wildly.

It took her a while to calm her heartbeat.

Unable to sleep, she simply got up and sat by the fire to warm herself.

Yun Mo, who was on night watch with Lin Yiheng in the distance, saw her and wanted to come over and say a few words to her, but then he saw her pick up her sword, get up, and walk to the edge of the forest.

Lin Yiheng thought his younger sister was sleepwalking, so he carefully walked over and whispered, "Anan, what's wrong?"

Lin Yinan frowned as she looked at the pitch-black forest. A strong sense of crisis told her that something was watching them intently from inside.

She pointed to the dark forest and said, "Brother, there's something inside."
