Chapter 95 Refusal of Marriage Proposal

Lin Yinan ate three bowls in a row before putting down her bowl. She was still not full. The porridge would be gone after two trips to the toilet, but Yunmu next to her couldn't eat anymore because she was watching her.

From the moment she sat down until she finished three bowls of porridge, Yunmu kept giving her an aunt-like smile.

No wonder she can't eat.

Only then did Lin Yinan notice a pile of things wrapped in red cloth in the corner of the room.

After seeing that she had finished eating, Old Madam Zhao slowly said, "Anan, Madam Yun is here today to propose marriage to you on behalf of Young Master Yun."

Lin Yinan was startled. She had finally managed to cancel one engagement, and now someone else was proposing marriage to her. What a terrible marriage she was going through.

Yunmu lovingly took her hand and stroked the thick calluses on her palms from years of martial arts practice.

"Anan, you are a good girl, hardworking and capable, and a perfect match for my third son. I would like to ask you to be my third son's wife. Would you be willing?"

This matter could have been discussed directly with the elders of the Lin family without needing to consult her, but Lin Yinan is a person of strong will, and Yunmu would like to hear her opinion.

Lin Yinan was not used to being so intimate with others. She withdrew her hand without making a sound and said in a distant tone, "Thank you for your kindness, Madam, but I am not willing."

Grandma Zhao and Li Shulan were both stunned by her words. Yun Sanlang was a rare and outstanding man. It was a blessing she had earned over several lifetimes to have him take a liking to her.

"Anan, you need to think this through," Old Mrs. Zhao said in a trembling voice.

Anan and the Su family have broken off their engagement, and it will be difficult for her to find a good family for her granddaughter in the future. She is afraid that if her granddaughter misses this opportunity, she will never have another chance.

She's lived her whole life, and she doesn't understand what Anan has to be picky about?

"I've thought it through. Young Master Yun is still an outstanding individual, and he is truly unworthy of me. Please take today's matter as a joke, Madam."

Yunmu glanced at her daughter-in-law, and Li Huishan knew what her mother-in-law was thinking.

She shook her head slightly at her mother-in-law and said carefully, "Miss Lin and her third brother were chasing the Hu people the night before last. They were delayed until dawn due to the snow. There are some bad rumors about you in the mountain village right now."

"This matter arose because of Mo'er, so he should take responsibility for it."

Yunmu's eyes were full of worry; she was afraid that the rumors would hurt such a good girl.

"Thank you for thinking of me, Madam Yun. I am not the responsibility of Young Master Yun, and he need not bear it."

Lin Yinan looked at Madam Yun and her daughter-in-law with bright, piercing eyes.

Seeing the determination in her eyes, Yunmu wanted to say a few more words of persuasion, but Li Huishan quietly pressed her hand down.

“Miss Lin, my mother-in-law and I have come here today with sincere intentions. However, my third brother has left home and will not be back for a few days. Miss Lin, you may want to consider this carefully and give us your answer then.”

No matter how much time has passed, Lin Yinan's answer remains the same: since they have offered her a way out, she shouldn't make a definitive statement and leave each other with some dignity.

"Okay, I'll think about it."

Lin Yinan personally escorted the Yun family mother-in-law and daughter-in-law out of the courtyard.

Back inside, they saw Old Mrs. Zhao and her two daughters-in-law sighing over the gifts wrapped in red cloth by the wall.

Zhang gave her a resentful look, "Anan, Young Master Yun is really quite good."

Li Shulan hesitated, but Grandma Zhao spoke first, "Anan, tell Grandma, what are you really thinking?"

Lin Yinan sighed, realizing that even though they were still on the run, they hadn't forgotten to help her find a good family.

Does every woman have to get married?

She reminded her, "Grandma, we'll be setting off south soon. We'll be enduring wind and rain along the way, and it's uncertain whether we'll arrive safely. Let's wait until we've settled down in the south before worrying about these things, okay?"

The three remained silent, their recent stability giving them a false sense of security.

Lin Yinan leaned against the door frame, looking at the white expanse outside the window, and continued, "I don't care about reputation. My reputation might get worse in the future. If my reputation affects my family, I can leave."

Grandma Zhao stared at her with wide eyes, "What nonsense are you talking about? Don't worry, Anan, no matter what, Grandma won't kick you out."

"Yes, we will always be your family."

Lin Yinan dared not gamble. When she lay flat at night, she could feel a little bulge in her belly. Right now, her clothes were thick, so it wasn't noticeable. But in another two months, her belly would be impossible to hide.

She had thought it through. Even if she didn't go to the south with the Lin family, and instead hid in the deep mountains and forests, as long as she could give birth to the child safely, she and the child could survive well with her abilities and the supplies stored in her space.

Every night before falling asleep, she would place her hand on her belly and secretly make a wish, hoping that her child would grow up healthy and safe.

Three days have passed since Lady Li Yun came to propose marriage.

The weather was terribly gloomy, gray all day long, and the cold wind was still biting, the chill still biting.

"Looks like it's going to snow."

Qianxia kept doing needlework. The fabrics were secretly taken out of Lin Yinan's space. She asked Qianxia to sew a few loose, thin jackets for her to wear when the weather gets warmer.

When no one is in the house during the day, Lin Yinan will make some small clothes for the children and store diapers in the space.

During this time, she learned to cut and sew clothes from Qianxia. She could suture wounds, and although her stitches were a little crooked, they weren't too bad.

Upon hearing Qianxia's words, Lin Yinan put down her needlework and looked out through the crack in the window.

Just then, a pair of long, strong legs stepped into the courtyard; it was the guards returning from their shift.

As Lin Yinan was thinking to herself, she saw those feet walking straight toward the house where they lived. Was Yun San coming to see the Qianxia sisters again?

A knock sounded at the door. Qianxia glanced out the window, then quickly got out of bed, put on her shoes, and went to open the door.
