Chapter 359 Substituting One Thing for Another

Not far from the maid, Fan Yuejia, bound hand and foot, knelt slumped to one side with a cloth tied around her mouth.

She stared desperately at the maid on the ground, beaten beyond recognition, making "Ugh! Ugh!" sounds as she tried to defend herself.

Inside the main courtyard of the Yu family mansion, the Yu family patriarch's personal servant was leading a doctor into the courtyard where Yu Shicheng was recuperating.

"Manager Yu, what brings you here?" The servant who was taking care of Yu Shicheng's eyes lit up as he stepped forward.

Steward Yu covered his nose with a handkerchief and said with a look of disgust, "It's nothing, the head of the family will have the doctor come and examine the young master."

"Doctor, this way please."

The servant led the doctor into the house, but Steward Yu, smelling the strong odor emanating from the house, dared not approach and stood in the courtyard watching.

A moment later, the doctor came out with a normal expression.

"Doctor, how is my young master?"

The servant chased after the doctor from inside the house. The doctor didn't even turn his head, carrying his unopened medicine box, and hurriedly followed Steward Yu back to the front yard.

Watching the two figures disappear through the hanging flower archway, and hearing a heavy slam of the door closing, the servant twitched the corner of his mouth and returned to the house.

"Amin, did the doctor say anything?" Yu Shicheng opened his eyes with difficulty and looked at Amin who walked in.

Amin forced a smile and said, "The doctor said that the young master's condition has improved a lot. He needs to eat on time and take good care of himself."

Yu Shicheng's eyes immediately dimmed, and he lowered his eyelids in disappointment, no longer speaking.

Amin wanted to say a few more words of advice, but then he heard Aliang's voice from outside the door.

"Young master, Ah Liang has returned from fetching the mutton for lunch. I'll go out and see what delicious food the old lady has prepared for you."

Yu Shicheng waved weakly at him. His thin, bony hands were covered with large and small bruises. Despite the sweltering heat, he was still covered with a thick winter quilt.

Amin left the house and gently closed the door.

Yu Shicheng could clearly see A Liang standing outside the door through the slightly ajar crack.

Strange! Why doesn't Ah Liang have a food box in his hand?

Wasn't he going to the kitchen to get his food?

Just as Yu Shicheng was trying to get a clearer view, he was completely blocked by Amin's back. So, he pricked up his ears and listened carefully to their conversation.

When A-Liang saw that his hands were empty, A-Ming questioned him, "A-Liang, didn't you go to get food?"

"The food in the kitchen is not ready yet."

Ah Liang's tone revealed his low spirits.

In fact, the kitchen hadn't been lit yet, and Ah Liang hesitated, unsure how to begin.

Amin glanced at the sky. "It's past lunchtime. What's going on in the kitchen today?"

"Something happened up ahead, and all the elders of the Yu family have come."

Yu Shicheng, who was inside the room, was startled. He was about to ask a question when A-Ming asked for him, "What's wrong?"

So, without a second thought, Ah Liang recounted everything that had happened to Ah Ming, completely disregarding Yu Shicheng inside.

"What? How dare the eldest young mistress?" Amin was so shocked that he was almost incoherent.

Ah Liang glanced at the half-open door, his voice unconsciously rising several octaves.

"That's right. The young mistress hasn't visited the young master for almost two months, but the doctor said she's over a month pregnant. How could she be pregnant with our young master's child?"

"Is there some misunderstanding? Ah Liang, go ahead and check again."

"Okay, I'll go right away!"

After saying that, Ah Liang took off running outside.

After standing in the courtyard for a long time, Amin finally turned around and went back into the house.

As soon as he stepped into the room, he saw Yu Shicheng lying motionless on the bed with his eyes wide open, the blanket covering him covered with splattered blood.

Amin reached under Yu Shicheng's nose and checked; he was no longer breathing.

He abruptly withdrew his hand and ran out in a panic.

The front courtyard of the Yu residence.

Steward Yu led the doctor back to the front yard. "Master! The doctor has returned after taking your pulse."

"What do you mean?" Patriarch Yu stood up excitedly.

The doctor bowed to him and slowly said, "Reporting to Patriarch Yu, the young master's body has long been hollowed out by the Five Stone Powder, and his body is already rotten beyond repair. There is no cure."

"Can my son still get a woman pregnant?" Old Madam Yu asked nervously, standing up from her chair.

The doctor shook his head and said decisively, "Based on my pulse diagnosis just now, there is absolutely no possibility of that!"

Madam Yu pointed at Fan Yuejia and shouted sternly, "You slut! The evidence is right in front of you, what else do you have to say?"

"Ugh! Ugh!" Fan Yuejia's face was pale as she shook her head, trying to break free of the ropes binding her body, a faint pain coming from her stomach.

Just then, Yu Shicheng's personal servant rushed in and knelt down with a thud.

"Master, Madam, something terrible has happened! The eldest young master... the eldest young master is not breathing!" Ah Ming ran out of breath and blurted out the words.

"What?" The old lady's vision went black, and she slumped back in her chair and fainted.

The head of the Yu family hurriedly ordered Steward Yu to bring the doctor over to see him. He seemed to have been mentally prepared, and his expression was indifferent, making it impossible to discern his emotions.

"Master, what should we do with this immoral woman?"

The clansmen clearly had no intention of letting Fan Yuejia go.

The head of the Yu family was in a dilemma. His daughter-in-law and her maid both insisted that the child in her belly was Yu Shicheng's, but the doctor's words made it impossible not to believe them.

Her gaze swept over the servant still kneeling on the ground, and she pointed at him, "Tell me! Has the young mistress visited the young master's room these past few days?"

The head of the Yu family stared intently at the servant, as if he would acknowledge Fan Yuejia's unborn grandson even if it were just once.

Clearly, the servant was going to disappoint him.
